Alex Wiebe I wholeheartedly agree, while playing advanced warfare a while ago I was crawling through a cafe in cover and stopped behind the deserts counter to admire a small bottle of water on the floor which had the label, bottled from the last glacier's and I found myself reading the entire label for the next 3 minute or so in the middle of a shootout and just appreciated the one guy in the art department who took time to make the design and the label, which in most games would just be unreadable squiggles and blurry colour

Alex Wiebe kinda makes me realize how much I appreciate modders, especially modders of games that without certain mods are literally (and I MEAN IT when I say that) unplayable. The New Vegas modders are lifesavers.

I saw that suiting-up scene in a video and it is absolutely hilarious. It's like 4 bullet proof vests and a bra. You just have to wonder, if the female version is so small, why does this particular room have the exact right amount for their squad?

The female armor is Anya's, who is JD's mother. If you re-watch the video it tells you why they have the exact right amount of armor as well. Marcus kept JD's and Del's from when the left the COG and of course he has his own.

I'm one of those artist that painstakingly makes cobble stones that would look good to an ant. I realized a long time ago that all the work we did, will mostly be ignored. I worked on The Rockband series of games, doing instrument models. I've never seen anyone give two flying rats behinds about any of the instruments, or any of the artwork we put into it.

Considering how well Gears of War 3 ended with a pretty epic boss fight and a pretty solid: "The Locusts are all dead" It seems like it's forcing itself forward with this fourth one and struggling to find a bad guy. It's like Halo, the triology is done the enemy is fucking defeated, let's do something new.

Yeah, it seems to be the same thing that happened with Dead Space 3: Awakened. "Alright writing team, we've killed off Isaac Clarke, permanently stopped the Necromorph threat, and tied up all remaining loose ends in our franchise's story. Now let's make a DLC where Isaac gets saved by aliens who went extinct millennia ago so he can fight even *MORE* Necromorphs!" "But boss, we've already established that the Necromorphs are all gon--" "Make up an unsubstantiated excuse for how they survived, or you're fired!"

No Dead Space 3 didn't kill Isaac, at the very end of the credits you can hear him try and call Ellie and they never established all the necromorphs are gone through little fun things. Such as if you read the first letter of each mission it tells us basically that those evil moons have awoken.

At least the Reclaimer saga so far at least make sense within the lore. Obviously billions of extremely passionate Covenant aliens wouldn't just vanish from the galaxy because their main leaders died, have you learned nothing from real life terrorism? Also there's plenty of other stuff that's not Covenant related to deal with. But here if I understand correctly they practically completely reversed a major plot point from Gears of War 3, which makes Gears of War 4's entire story's foundation on top of a plot hole. And if you know anything about construction, houses tend to fall into sink holes.

I too have always felt bad for environment artists in games where the player is expected to sprint through rooms blowing stuff up as fast as they can. This is why i take my time in any game and appreciate the work put into it. Like how I, and millions of others, will never play Dishonored 2 the speedy violent way despite all the trailers being about stabby stabby run run

I did get a good laugh every time 'Sarah Palin head on a bot' showed up to chastise you and then act surprised when one of the receiving characters then breaks it for being such a twat. I think he actually likes most games, these series are meant to shit on any game it review because its all satire and it wont be funny if he praises it. Take the new doom for example. Honestly though, Gears 4 was a bit naff. And I really liked the other three *and only three* Gears of War games and I'm enjoying reading the novels for the first time as well. I can't believe it ended when it did. It wasn't as completely abrupt as something like Rage, but when I realized that the pathetically easy even on hard difficulty monster that came out of nowhere was the final boss, that was disappointing. And a lot of the story elements had me thinking there must have been some tie-in book or other media that I missed because the game acts like there's a whole bunch of backstory to all the new characters that the player should already know, so it doesn't bother explaining anything. Very frustrating. *SPOILERS BELOW* Also it really pissed me off how they just decided Anya was dead and didn't care to explain why. I even went back through the game finding all the collectibles in the hopes that one of them would add some lore to help explain that shit, but nope. Doesn't exist. The most you can do is look at her grave which prompts Marcus and JD to have an incredibly short conversation about the windstorms putting leaves everywhere. What a crock of shit. If you want to kill off a major character, fine, but don't do it like that. This shit is almost as bad as the way Volition killed Johnny Gat in Saints Row The Third. Maybe worse, because I don't think Anya is going to get to have her death retconned in the next game like Gat did.

Well said. There was a lot of stuff that is sequel bait, like the part ware a pouncer shots that robot and it looks like the robot is being controlled by something else for a second but then it brakes and they never speak about it again. Anya was just carelessly written out for no reason, yet she is in the campaign (in the prolong only) and still playable in multiplayer with one of her skins being a new look she only had in trailers! They should have gone back in time there is plenty of room in the lore for a prequel and gears 3 ended thing so well.

Looking at this game, without having to play it. I'm thinking this game could have benefited with a completely different planet and different place and setting. Like let 1-3 (Too bad Judgement was cancelled ;) ) be the Sera or Marcus saga, and build a new saga from the ground up basically. It can keep the Gears of War tagline but something new like, "Gears of War: Cogs in action" and let it take place on the planet Yharnam or something. It seems like at some point it's easier to create a new less complicated story rather than have a story continue on while trying to make excuses why it should go on.

I thought much like Yahtzee does about GoW players, with my tattooed, rebellious 1980s rocker-uncle as a clear example of people who enjoy the game. Then I saw the man shed tears for Dom and Maria and pause the game to kiss his kids at the end of GoW 3. Dunno what to think now.
