On my second playthrough of this game, I remembered this video and it occurred to me that it would have been a great twist if it turned out that all the drones Batman destroys with the Batmobile actually had Militia members inside...or perhaps more tragically, the evacuated citizens of Gotham. Fuck all that shit Scarecrow was on about, THAT is how you break Batman.

It may work in an elseworld story or something but when Batman actually kills people it ain't gonna make it to the normal timeline, even if the Arkhamverse is separate it's still a derivative of normal canon. Dunno man, if you really want a good Batman story check out the enemy within.

Actually, to get the main ending, you have to do ALL of the side quests. This includes every single one of those hundred or so Riddler Trophies.

The riddles in this game are actually easier than Arkham Citys. Fewer riddles. AK has around 250-ish and I'm pretty sure AC had about 400, not too sure. I just know it took me over a year of playing to beat AC while I did AK in about 3-4 weeks

@@qty1315 I'm sure there's some good arguments about Arkham City and why it could be seen as an equal or better game (I just loaded it up and started playing again last night coincidentally) but my argument for arkham asylum would be the condensed world design (not that city has a dramatically worse world it's just less intriguing than the mysterious asylum) and that alone, city has plenty of cool moments and areas that are more than worth playing it for, also really enjoy the challenge maps with the different characters.

Actually Yatzee the evacuation of Gotham isn't a plot hole at all. You find out that Scarecrow knew his gas bomb would cover the entire Eastern sea board and he told the city because he knew there would be no escape.

actually it does become quite a plothole when he tries to gas the city the second time. especially since he tries to act like he planned for batman to screw up the first attempt.

I assumed that Gotham's people would return home once the maniac threatening to fear gas the city was arrested. Crane told them because the fear of the gas is almost as powerful as the gas itself.

My problem with Arkham Knight is that anyone who watched Batman: Under the Red Hood knew immediately who the Arkham Knight was. They hyped this up so much as a brand new story and it wasn't at all

Correct, only not everyone has seen that movie or is even aware of the Red Hood storyline. This is introducing it to a new genre with a potentially new audience besides diehard Batman fans. Besides, it was actually surprising, not the twist because that was seen coming a mile away. Just that they did it at all

the second the Arkham Knight opened his mouth I was like "Jason Todd. It's Jason Todd." Because there was no way it couldn't have been Jason Todd. And lo and behold at the end of the story it turned out it was Jason Todd RIVETING So I spent the whole story annoyed that they were calling him the Arkham Knight, which was a fucking stupid contrived name made to fit it into the 'Arkham' naming convention. And that the marketing of the 'Arkham Knight' as '100% donut steel villain' was utter lies. And eventually you hear "Arkham" so many times that it loses all meaning. They already had "Batman: Arkham City" they should have just called it "Batman: Gotham City" and that would have been just fine. Then we would have just called it the Batman series and that's probably what it should have been called in the first place because when you have a title like Title Colon Second Title generally the first title is the _series name._

@@Miriam_J_ well...that's the thing. too much of Arkham Knight is the shitty bat tank. I thoroughly enjoyed both the Penguin and Riddler quests because it gave me the dual combat system, which was much needed evaluation if the bam-ham formula, but it didn't really matter how fun it was because you only got to do it for like six occasions. The Two-Face quest wasn't particularly great to me, but I can at least see how fun it could be to perfectly chain the environmental takedowns to rack up combos on goons. That's all I can recall enjoying about Arkham Knight. That's barely a third of the game.

Your last bit about all the characters, not just the women, having a terrible time reminded me of Game of Thrones. People threw a fit when Cersei had her walk of shame as punishment for being a terrible person, but cheered when Theon was forcibly castrated for being a terrible person when he actually wasn't. Sansa gets raped, bad. Oberyn gets his face squashed like a grape, not bad. Pregnant woman gets stabbed, bad. Her husband gets shot by a crossbow, not bad. Is the suffering of the women somehow less acceptable than the suffering of the guys?

***** The rape scene with Sansa didn't happen in the book, but what did happen was WAY worse. In the books Sansa's childhood friend Jeyne Poole is forced to pretend to be Arya so she can marry Ramsey and solidify his right to rule in Winterfell. When you next see her she has been beaten and tortured, with scars and bite marks on her breasts, and it's implied that Ramsey made her have sex with the dogs. So with that in mind, having Ramsey force himself on Sansa wasn't all that shocking. I hated that scene mostly because they had been building Sansa up into a force to be reckoned with, and I had hoped that she was going to take control of the honeymoon and consummate the marriage on her terms. Having her bend over and submit to him while crying just took all her character development from the past season and threw it out the window. She had already been abused by Joffrey, I was hoping she had learned from that and was going to be more proactive instead of being submissive. Instead she just let Ramsey abuse her as well. Frankly, that regression was even more demeaning than the rape itself.

Actually Yathzee isn't too far off. The entire idea of flooding the place with armies and riddlers trophies scattered everywhere is to spread batman so thin and wear him out that he either gives up or dies trying to find trophy number 238. So yes their strategy is to bore him into submission.

Does Yahtzee not know that Origins wasn't made by Rocksteady, hence the fact that it doesn't adhere to the trilogy timeline or have the same voice actors?

Asa Skinner Actually, if you go to the GCPD HQ and look at the stuff in the Evidence Archive Room, you can see some of the weapons that the bad guys in Origins used, such as the Electrocutioner's gloves. So it kind of IS part of the Arkham Timeline. The reason why Batman and Joker have different voice actors in that game is because Origins is the first game chronologically, thus everyone is younger. Kevin Conroy is 59 and Mark Hamill is 63 so it doesn't make sense for a Batman in his late 20's/early 30's to have the voice of an old man.

Its a rocksteady trilogy which is the majority of the arkham franchise. Origins is part of the arkhamverse, as you can tell via the evidence room as well as references from people such as firefly.

There are actually A SHIT TON of references to Arkham Origins in Akrham Knight. All the references of past villains in the GCPD building, Firefly and Deathstroke speaking of their last encounters during the Blackgate riots *arkham origins*, and I think there's even some newspapers that reference back to Origins.

jonn smith Yes but when you put traditionally strong female characters, such as Catwoman and Ivy, into the damsel in distress trope even I have to call that as being BS. Ive would of used either some plants to knock out guys and get away or pheromones to control them. As for Catwoman her character is established as being quiet intelligent so she never would of fallen for the whole "I have a job for you" crap from Riddler.

Ivy never really was captured. She knew she would survive the fear gas and batman didn't even know she was captured at all. Catwoman is intelligent, but Riddler didn't have an obvious reason to go after her, so she likely didn't expect the betrayal.

legion999 Lets see... I count three female main characters get captured and are then saved by Batman (Ivy, Selina and Barbara). I count five main male characters that are captured in the game(Tim, Jason, Dick, Gordon and Bruce). Now Batman did not save himself; Catwoman saved him and considering he is the primary main character. The percentages are 37.5% female to 62.5% male. Yeah, no.

I bought this game for the PC like 3 years after release with all the dlc's in a bundle for like 12 bucks and I can't imagine how dull the main storyline would have been with the incessant overuse of tank battles if you couldn't break it up every now and then to go fight the mad hatter or something.

Just to ruin the spoiler here, because it's your fault for coming to KZbin's comment section if you actually end up spoiled, but I suppose I can at least hide it from those un-curious, so don't click "Read more", unless you've already played the game. I really don't like that Joker was thrown in this game *yet again.* Not that I have something against the dude, but rather because it's a blatant revealer of how inept the writing in this game and alot of Batman material can kinda be. Joker is like this magic snake-oil that writer's use whenever in a ditch. When you're not good enough to keep interest up with the main story presented, you just put the Joker there to juggle his bollocks for a couple of hours to pull the curtains on us and steer our attention away from the fact that you can't make any other villain in this series seem interesting. I wouldn't be as pissed if: A: They already didn't use Joker as a crutch in the last game. B: This wasn't the fucking Scarecrow they were trampling on to make way for more Joker pandering. A villain I seriously fucking love from Batman's catalog of manevolent loonies. Top of the class, wrestling up there with the likes of Mr. Freeze and Joker. And yes, I do mean it when I say that I still love Joker, despite my critique here. It's just that we get so over-exposed to Joker that I simply want another villain to take the full spotlight all to himself for once without the need of Joker to do his thing to keep us entertained.

The bit about the empty city that Batman it just there for no fucking reason bit is kinda off - in the game it is explained fairly early on via the boring ass monologue (don’t blame you for ignoring them) that the ace chemicals building that you never go back to after the beginning was initially planned to cause a fear gas cloud big enough to cover all of the eastern coast of the US. The reason scarecrow gave everyone notice is to be able to remove all the civilians so they won’t be bothered by anyone and flood the islands with criminals to overwhelm the police force while Batman has to deal with that, the militia, and the entirety of every other villain running around. Scarecrow didn’t care about civilians running away cuz they would be hit by the gas cloud no matter what. The only issue I have with that whole plan is exactly what you sir have stated. Strap a fucker into a tank and Batman can’t do shit cuz it will kill him. Arkham knight shoulda killed Batman within the first 20 minutes with a helicopter instead of playing scare the big billionaire bat guy for the whole game. That along with just leaving civilians in so Batman can’t just go around destroying and blowing up shit with his literal fucking tank that can shoot a shitload of missiles.

You are kinda mistaken Scarecrow only announced that he will spread the gas in Gotham, but when you rescued one of the scientist he will mention that Scarecrow will spread the poison on the entire East Coast so basically even if they had escaped, the entire East Coast would die from the gas and well the people that are in the streets are just thugs that stayed instead of leaving Gotham. But amazing and great video keep it up! I love your videos and you're one of my favourite KZbinrs that put up their valuable time to make a great and hilarious video.

For once I must disagree with you yatzee. In the story missions, scarecrow says that the cloud would cover more than Gotham and the entire coast line when fully operational. All the people evacuating would have made scarecrows victory sweeter as they would have been given false hope and then become blinded by the blood trickling out of peoples stab wounds in the fear induced riots. Hatfall is actually really good. I was at Oakwood (Filled with roller coasters for all you people that don't know about the joy that is Oakwood), and instead of going on any rides, I just used their internet to play Hatfall. So now it can be said: Hatfall > Roller coasters.

You're forgetting a detail Yahtzee. The reason Batman is protecting a city with no civilians in it is because the Ace Chemicals building will release Scarecrow's fear toxin at a blast radius far beyond Gotham's city limits. He knew no one could get away from the blast fast enough. He just didn't want anyone getting in his way.

It isn't a stupid plan, he would have gassed tons of people far outside Gotham. Gordon simply questioning if he would does not equate to him only doing it to Gotham and Oracle states he is trying to do that. Either way someone has already pointed out that there are still a lot of innocents that could be affected in Gotham so even still, he is hurting people and fucking with Batman, who he wants to kill, the plan is smart.

Not to mention the apparently Life Time Supply of missiles, bullets and what ever the Batmobile runs off of.
