We need a vampire, or something else, game where you have some preset weaknesses, such as silver or whatever, and can't be harmed by anything else. As you go through the game, the more your enemies deal with you, the more they learn about you and the better adapted they become to your strengths and weaknesses, being able to counter your attacks while also taking advantage of your vulnerabilities. You'd be encouraged to be stealthy because if your enemies don't fight you directly, then they don't figure out what DOESN'T work against you, but if you take a head-on approach, they adapt to you and your abilities, leading to stronger enemies and harder levels. There wouldn't be a "right" way to play the game because one way would just be harder later with enemies learning all about you earlier than they should so you'd have a harder time defeating everyone, while taking the stealthy approach would be its own difficulty throughout.
@AlluMan96
@AlluMan96 8 жыл бұрын
That sounds cool, although I would rather go for pure stealth in that Thief-mentality of "If you're doing it any other way, you're playing the game all wrong." It might be just fatigue, but I'm sorta getting tiered of games that offer radically different options on how to play. They work in something like a multiplayer-focus, where everyone has a unique role to fill in a functioning team or in action RPGs, where it's just sorta standard. In alot of circumstances though, it feels less like a refreshing buffet of variables and more like the game isn't at it's best in any of the fields, when all encounters need to be made possible in either or. Also, if you are completely immune to a certain type of damage, the question of why even have enemies that can't hurt you would be a rather prevelant one. Perhaps non-lethal assaults could still physically wear you down, healed by a simple drink of blood. Early-game encounters would then be all about making you weak and finishing you off with the ol' steak to the heart, avoidable only by a button mash sequance (with deminishing reutrns, each time doing it during 1 encounter getting harder). They couldn't even preform it unless you were below 50% and after that, the lower your health goes, the harder it'd be to button-mash out of it. Then, by the time you get farther in the game, more enemies will have weapons like silver bullets and UV-flashlights that simply skip the "wearing you down" part and just chop your health down right then and there (needing a signifigant amount of work to patch up from) and pretty much kill you more efficiantly.
@avalonwillowbloom1590
@avalonwillowbloom1590 8 жыл бұрын
I like games that reward the stealth but don't force you to play like that, plus you could have the additional challenge of having elite death squads sent out to kill you with full knowledge of who you are. The game becomes either a Thief-esque stealth-em-up, or a fast paced fighter, or some mix of the two, depending how you play it.
@avalonwillowbloom1590
@avalonwillowbloom1590 8 жыл бұрын
I get what you're saying, but I think the player should have the choice to be exclusively stealthy, if they want. We've got the technology to handle this kind of computational load, if we'd only let go of the graphics a wee bit. Things can look like a video game, that's okay. None of us have ever been convinced the game we were playing was literally real, no matter what the graphics looked like, but I digress. My point is that we need a true RPG with this kind of system. Something akin, but not identical, to a moral choice system with nuanced gameplay differences that mount over time. Perhaps a system wherein the more conspicuous you are, the more alert guards and citizens become.
@AlluMan96
@AlluMan96 8 жыл бұрын
***** The technology is certainly there, but the issue lies more in a design dilemma that's timeless. A stage that is designed for both Stealth and Action will inevitably be lesser to something that picks the 1 thing and trying to handmake seperate level design to your chosen playstyle would be a needless exhauster of both financial and human resources. I just think that the thinner you stretch yourself, the less you can do with any 1 piece given. This is beyond balancing issues and whatnot, something that most games of this nature are plagued by. I usually commend developers that are able to stick with 1 thing they wanna do and do that thing the best they possibly can. The early Thief games are a good example of this. Thief 2 especially made some quite intuitive and well-weaven levels you sneak around in. If Thief 2 boasted an option to take enemies head-on, it'd just undermine such intriquite design and would need re-tooling to befit the new angle, thus taking away from the stealth. It's simply a clash in design-philosophies, we have here. 2 hands pulling simular ideas in different directions. I believe rather firmly in the idea of specialization than being a jack-of-all, but I'm not everybody, now am I? I do think there have been examples out there that have pulled off a marriage of stealth and action. How Batman Arkham did it was rigid, but functioning. It's just that I respect that craft less than I would the games that define their identities around 1 central mechanic everything works around.
@franzsanders9573
@franzsanders9573 6 жыл бұрын
What you could do is that non-lethal attacks instead _impair_ the vampire PC instead of killing you. For example, the PC can’t do the Darth Vader choke if they get their hand blown off by a shotgun, and they need to readjust their playing style to account for that new weakness until they eventually heal their hand.

Can anyone make a video game alphabet to see if Yahtzee has reviewed a game for every letter? That would not only be impressive, but I would like to see if it's true.
@marthia8015
@marthia8015 8 жыл бұрын
Challenge accepted! I'll only mention one game per letter, a "The" in front of the title is ignored, and in case of franchises with titles in the style of "Franchise: Subtitle" or "Franchise [Number]", I'll just leave it at the name of the franchise. A - Assassins Creed B - Bioshock C - Call of Duty D - Duke Nukem Forever (or Dark Souls, but Duke Nukem takes the cake here) E - Elder Scrolls F - Final Fantasy G - Gears of War H - Half Life I - Infamous J - Just Cause K - Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days L - Legend of Zelda M - Mortal Combat N - No More Heroes O - Does the Orange Box count? If not, take Overlord. P - Portal Q - Quantum Conondirum R - Rock Band S - Silent Hill T - Two Worlds U - Uncharted V - Volume W - Wolfenstein X - XCOM Y - Yoshi's Wooly Word Z - Zombiu There might be more fitting titles for some letters, but I just scrolled down the playlist and picked whatever seemed most important.

Who thinks of Twilight (spelling intentional, by the way) when they hear Vampire? I think skin as white as snow, short slick jet black hair with a hint of male pattern balding, eyes deep set the radiate sorrow and not much else, formal clothing with a black cape held over his/her mouth, and above all I think of something that is lost about Vampires on those who make Twilight even more than the other things: intelligence. I think of Vampires reading books, painting, learning, I think of scholars, NOT girlish men and mannish women, both of whom have the collective I.Q. of a cucumber sandwich!

+karl seider I agree with pretty much all of that, with a few additions. I also think of people that exude power, physically and socially. People who are incredibly charismatic, but are only slightly above average visually. They're people who get whatever they want, either by earning it, or by being able to manipulate people into giving it to them, supernatural powers notwithstanding. Vampires, being ageless, are impossibly well-traveled, absurdly cultured, and more knowledgeable than almost any one, with older vampires being experts in multiple different fields of study. Vampires are the pinnacle of what humans could accomplish; they're what humanity could be if it weren't concerned with running out of time.

+karl seider I think of red-skinned, swollen, reanimated corpses that feast on people's blood while they sleep. It's what classic vampires were, before Victorian literature turned them badass and 2000's literature turned them shitty.

Facial expressions are an involuntary and voluntary response to display one's emotions to another. It is one of the base forms of communication in mammals. The letter that comes after "X" and before "Z" that is sometimes used to replace a vowel at the end of a word, and is replaced by "i" when using the same word as an adjective and "es" whenever used in plural. There are exceptions that exist.
