I've been playing Aiden as a special needs idiot, trapped in the delusion that he's a superhero, oblivious to the fact that he's a public nemesis. He also doesn't realise that his niece is actually on an exchange trip to France and his so-called nephew is actually a little French boy who can't speak a lick of English. That game existed for a long time now, a decade before this necropost. It was called "Lifeline" (PS2), you couldn't physically do anything more than switch cameras and give the gal commands with PS2 microfone. There was also "My name is Ellie...help me out...please", but it was far shorter - an hour long psychological horror quest.

Y'know, I just realised something. This game is about a long coat wearing "badass" sneaking around Chicago doing some occasionally legally wrong stuff in order to fight off the city's shady underbelly, all with the aid of his seemingly magic items. Somebody could replace Aiden's phone with a blasting rod and all the bad guys with vampires and we would almost have a Dresden Files game.

Bought the game two days ago at the Steam summer sale and I have to say, for a hacker who is not very good with the gun the game forces the player quite often into a offensive position where the survival rate is pretty low. The big city is nice to cruise around but only if you ignore the other traffic participants who behave like someone the day after passing his driving test.

My favorite part in watch dogs is the time I decided to park my car while being pursued by 6 or so police cars. I parked, got out, and walked, not ran, walked. The police kept shooting my car as I juts strolled along and stood next to them. I stood next to an officer for about a minute, watching them put holes in my car until I stole another car right across the street and drove off.

Brandon MacLeod I remember hearing the term "standard protagonist" from Red Letter Media, which is pretty apt for Aiden and most other AAA main characters that follow a template I remember hearing about elsewhere a few years ago: - Male. - Caucasian with brown hair, maybe some five o'clock shadow. Might as well be 'round the clock' shadow, 'cos it never changes. - 30-something years old. - Voice like a gravel pit. Actually, literally, chewing gravel when he speaks. - 'Dark and brooding' in the way that the character himself might think it's cool, but all everyone else sees is an emo manchild with a gun. - Speaking of which, he can use guns. Any gun. Has actual military-grade training with every gun ever. Somehow. No problem with killing, either. PTSD? What's that? - Leaves humour to the plucky comic relief, meaning he has no sense of humour at all. Might throw in a poorly-thought out snark every so often in a cheap grab at someone's funny-bone. - I dunno, maybe gets the girl. You know, the girl. The 'crew member' with two X chromosomes. The person with the lady parts. The 'not a guy but one of the guys'. The 'Missus'. Little Miss Two-Breasts. - Needs to be moderately attractive. You know, the kind of face we can plaster on fuckin' everything. Posters, boxes, action figures, cups, toothpaste, body spray, whatever. Now, while I agree that Nathan Drake and Desmond Miles don't follow this down to the precise detail, they're still the same character that Nolan North has been pidgeonholed into doing over and over. A "Nolantagonist", if you will.

This was a fair and funny review, but I have to say that I really enjoy Watch Dogs, it keeps me hooked and it is a lot of fun, even though it can get repetative at times.

I actually really enjoyed this game. The hacking is fun, the shooting is fun, the slight parkour is fun, the side missions are fun. The story itself is pretty shit but the story missions are fun. The criminal convoy side-missions meant that you could set up your own ambushes and really lets you be creative. The gang hideout side missions mean you can really get creative with the hacking, I've cleared out entire hideouts just hacking, never even going inside. It's not the best ever, but it's honestly really enjoyable in my opinion. I still play it a lot.

I bought this game and I'm really liking it, my only real complaint is that the world opens up too quickly. Look at GTA IV, you unlocked every feature of the world mission by mission making everything feel useful. In this it just kind of gives you everything right off the bat and it makes none of it feel cool. There is also some really dumb design decisions, like a mission where you have to take down a group of organ harvesters with the non-lethal takedowns. The problem is that they are in cars AND YOU FAIL THE MISSION IF THEY DIE! WHY IS IT VITAL TO KEEP THE CRIMINALS ALIVE, BUT IT IS FINE TO MURDER A BUNCH OF INNOCENT PEOPLE ON THE WAY TO THEM?

My favorite moment of Watch Dogs was one of the invasion bits. If I recall I was invading someone and trying to stay alive while fucking with their data or whatever. I literally stood behind a large rock while they blew up a road until their time ran out. Best moment of the entire game.

I am so glad I rented this before buying. It's not a hugely bad game, but the hype they built around it led to a very disappointing result. I'm glad I'm a cynical cunt who doesn't easily get hyped for a game. Bloodborne is the only game I'd say got me hyped in the last few years, and that's because it's a Souls game. And let me tell you, it lived up to my expectations in almost every fucking way. Goddamn it, if only every game could be like that.

Rejoice! At the end there you described a game that exists, called Republique. It's available on iOS and soon will be available on PC. It was the first Kickstarter I ever backed. It is literally you guiding someone around while watching from security cameras. And the beauty of it is that the person you're guiding isn't a moron! She will actively avoid a patrol herself if you just leave her in the path of one. Great game, episodic, not yet finished.

I liked the spying on people in their homes. They should have made way more of those or at least let me repeat them. I also liked that I could take the train and walk slowly through rough areas that reminded me of home, without actually stepping out my home.

SPOILERS BELOW Call me soft, but in the end, I kinda thought that Aiden Pearce had enough of killing people, so I had him walked away instead of killing Maurice, showing that he hasn't completely lost his humanity in the progress of getting revenge. I was also quite sad when Clara died, even though she betrayed him, and I would liked if she lived (though that's because she's basically a bad copy of Lisbeth Salander, the hacker from Millenium trilogy, so I projected my sympathy for Lisbeth into her). In the end, the best thing in the game are the amazing graphics (with the worse mod, at least), and the story could have been a bit better, especially some side missions (the serial killer one was very anticlimactic, all hyped up creepy music on the crime scenes, and then it's some random guy in an intervene-to-stop-this-crime mission. And his final letter about slaves in heaven is a bad copy of the San Francisco's Zodiac killer letter. I mean, they could have imagined something more creative for the find-the-killer mission. Maybe you find out that he has kidnapped a woman and have a countdown to reach some abandoned shack and save her or something. Let's hope watch dogs 2 has more interesting story and side quests :)

I shot Maurice instantly, because to me Aiden does not work as a "good" protagonist or even a well adjusted human being. You steal people's cars, money and murder innocent ctOS guards, who merely worked for a paycheck. To me, Aiden Pearce is a sociopath with delusions of grandeur and desire to BE the vigilante like Batman. That includes a strong want to control ctOS, even though he said no-one must have such a power, even Blume (that also makes him a hypocrite). After killing Quinn he remarked about feeling alive. And he had no trouble killing or using anybody just to save his skin or his family.

I've been playing Watchdogs and I do enjoy the game overall, but every single point Yahtzee makes is 100% correct, and it almost makes me hate this game. Either way, I'm just gonna finish as much as I can this month and then trade it back in to Gamestop before it stops being worth anything. Fun gameplay, but it sure as hell didn't live up to all the hype.

The way he described the game at first reminds me of the film hackers, a film from the 90s when people understood even less about hacking then they do today, the main protagonist was a hacker called Zero Cool and they all went around skateboarding and acting like something that even back then was heavily outdated. Once again, awesomely done Yahtzee. And I also have to say that a game where you are the tutorial voice is actually a pretty good idea (in my eyes). Here's how I'd imagine it: Simply put, you are the tutorial voice or master in the game, however there's a little more to it than just that. Also being able to create your own levels and then play online with other people where you actually have to guide them around with your inputs over the mic or in a chat box on screen. I know that provided the game is decent and if you can play with randoms online, the game would be truly hilarious. No that I've got a basis out, what would you lot add or take away from this game? If it's a good enough idea (which the community will decide on) then it may be published as an indie game. Not big enough for AAA, but it could be popular... Derpy guy Watch Dogs was supposed to be the next big thing. Some even said it would be bigger than GTA V. GTA V was so big that it's been 2 years and the game is still super popular. Watch Dogs was actually forgotten about after a few months. For a game that had a hype train of 2 years and the fact that everyone was talking about it like it would be huge and how it would be better than GTA V and be the GTA killer and how it would kill GTA V and then go on to last for years but instead it only lasted for a few months before dying out. There were even alot of youtube let's plays of watch dogs (like things to do in watch dogs) which was supposed to replace the GTA V let's plays but for some reason they all just stopped played WD and went back to GTA V.

GTA V is popular because Rockstar showed how much they can do with the limited hardware of the PS3 and Xbox 360, and they cared about both Last Gen and Current Gen, and the game has a lot of things to do, like exploring the wilderness and see some animals and carry a fucking mini-gun, let's not compare Watch_Dogs to GTA V because we know how well is that going so let's compare it to Red Dead Redemption...... Well Red Dead Redemption has a good atmosphere that you feel like in a real 1911 in the west of the United States, and Red Dead Redemption has a satisfying bullet impact on enemies where blood comes out like it's real, while Watch_Dogs has none of the mentioned, shouldn't be surprised that no one kept talking about it.

Derpy guy I just hate how Ubisoft kept on saying that WD was the true next gen experience. They said it would be the game that defined next gen and when you think of next gen you'll think of WD. WD on current gen does absolutely nothing that any previous gen games could do. In fact there are things WD does worse than previous gen games. There's no real reflections or mirrors, there's always just 1 person in a car, when you flip over a pedestrian car they just pop out, and the A.I are all stupid and every one of them reacts the same way to every situation. I also hate how they kept on advertising the PC version as the lead version and how it was built from the ground up. The PC version of WD is nothing more than a horribly unoptimized port which requires a god PC just to run smoothly. Overall the game got alot of controversy mainly because Ubisoft advertised it as something that it simply wasn't. It's a perfectly average game that one would play for a few weeks and then forget about it but Ubisoft said that it would be a special experience that would be remembered for years. It wasn't special at all and it was completely forgotten about after a few months. It was supposed to be the next big thing but it wasn't even close to that and it died out very fast. I know this was a long comment but I just don't like it when companies false advertise their game just to get more money.

You forgot the fact that when you run into a chain link fence it shatters into pieces like glass. And fences make things explode. There's no bullet impact animations (maybe there are now) And cars will get their meshes stuck in one another.

I personally liked Watch_Dogs, cause it was quite a unique idea(in my opinion) and everyone seemed to give it hate, to which I thought they based their negative opinions on what they saw, and not how they played it. WD actually has a decent story if you actually payed attention to it (like me) and it's a good one to get indulged in.Some people had all their stuff lost because of some corruption on their Xbones or Piss-station 4's because of some bug apparently. But you see, I had it on PS3 so I was fine, and everyone gave it hate because of it, in my opinion, they seemed like they where blinded by their own ignorance. Sooner or later I eventually convinced myself to actually get the PC port, because I thought "Hey, it might actually be a decent port, compared to their other crap", it was then my PC said "You sir, are a massive cunt for downloading this horrible port", I couldn't even get 30fps on lowest graphics, and there was me thinking I could actually have fun with a Ubisoft PC game. Overall, I think people who criticized WD for having an uninteresting plot should play the game start to finish, without doing side missions. Take what you will about my opinion, I'm not fussed.
