Yeah, as a cupioromantic myself I do not enjoy being cupioromantic. I want a romantic relationship, I want to experience romantic attraction but, like you said, don't have the feelings for it. I still want the companionship and affection and overall just a person to spend my life with but our relationship would be different than most because I can't feel romantic attraction. It's not that I don't want to feel romantic attraction but that I physically can't. I want and plan on being in a romantic relationship someday, but it's not a necessity like it is for some people. I am may or may not be cupioromantic (I'm certainly quoiromantic), but a lot of hesitance for me is that I'm very much content (now) with the idea of never feeling romantic attraction. I would be very very happy in a romantic/queer platonic relationship, and the lack of romantic doesn't bother me because I know I'd love the person, just not romantically. Engaging in romance and romantic activities and all of the cheesiest stuff is something I still want. If I am cupioromantic I definetly have it better than most, and while the definition fits like a glove, I feel guilty putting myself in the same group knowing that I'm not suffering from the same anguish that almost everyone there is To all the cupioromantics, yall are beautiful, never forget it ❤

to define isn't to limit. in fact i would argue finally finding a definition/explanation for something you've been feeling can be quite freeing. the younger generation seem to have a real distaste for queer labels. it's sad to see so many misunderstand them and paint them as some kind of limiting prison. queer identities aren't limiting, they are flexible and maleable. it's not a one and done label situation. you can use whichever you feel fits the closest, but it doesn't have to fit 100% either. it's your identity, so you get to choose how you use it and how it defines you. for example, personally, while a few of the more specific identities/microlabels in this video (lithromantic and cupioromantic) fit what i experience more accurately, i choose to use aromantic instead as a broader, umbrella term, and then i can either leave it at that if i don't feel like sharing, or explain further if someone is interested in knowing more about my experiences and i feel like telling them. the point of these identities is to use them as descriptors for your experiences (which may or may not change over time), not boxes you're confined to.

I've had crushes in the past and pursued intensely every time they weren't reciprocated, but the only time one of my crushes eventually was reciprocated, I suddenly wasn't interested didn't want to talk to them anymore. I couldn't understand why, but it just repelled me somehow for no reason, but this explains that there's nothing wrong with me and I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one like this. Whatever, most of my love life existed inside my head with fictional characters, a few string of anime characters as well as a few characters I've made up myself. Maybe a lot to do with real people being untrustworthy as well as finding nobody in real life who share my values and interests.

As a demiromantic, what sucks about it that nobody tells you is that it's extremely hard to move on. Like once you're into a person you're INTO THEM. Even if you get rejected it'll take quite a while for the feelings to fade. And then it'll be a long time before you fall in love again. It's like the amount of time it took you to fall in love is the same amount that it'll take you to fall out of love if feelings aren't reciprocated.

5:49 As someone who is Electio aroace, or in different words, someone who is both cupioromantic and cupiosexual, I think this is a great description of it. In simple words, I just don’t feel people attractive. It’s always been hard for me to say “I love you” to people, even my family. I do want to experience having a relationship and the things that come with it but it’s really difficult when I can’t really feel love. I remember it was especially difficult when I was in my pre teen years and everyone was talking about crushes and it was extremely confusing to me because I have no idea what a crush feels like so I ended up sort of forcing myself to have “crushes” on my friends which caused most of those relationships to end. Luckily that was back then and I’ve learned a lot more about myself and found out I was electio aroace which was a huge relief to finally have a word that describes what I feel. I hope others who are struggling with their identity find things like this video that help them find themselves like my best friend did for me. Thank you Axel

Thank you so much for posting this video! Ive been able to find a label that fits me for every aspect (gender and sexuality) except for romantic. And have struggled with figuring out what I am romantically for almost 5yrs now. But Caderomantic is definitely what I've been looking for for so long, with some grayromantic involved. I've always felt like a mix of many and none of the lables I could find in the aromantic spectrum. But Cade and gray just makes sense and feels right!

Also an identity that some would consider an overlap into the aro spec would be abroromantic, which is similar to the varioromantic attraction, but it more refers to your entire orientation shifting in addition to attraction intensity etc.

The thing about varromantisism and other fluctuating aro labels is that I'm sure some people who don't experience it will look at this video and think "wow! How awful! This is just an excuse to be distant/cheat!" But here's the thing: there is never an excuse for cheating, and these labels aren't meant to cover for cheaters! They are legit labels to describe real groups of people and their notable emotional patterns. In fact, someone with fluctuating or dissapearing romantic feelings can feel extreme guilt for these emotions that they can't control! TL;DR: You can blame a person for commiting harmful actions, such as cheating, but you cannot blame a person who does no harmful actions for their _feelings alone._ Attraction cannot be controlled, actions can. So do not go around assuming that having a fluctuating romantic or sexual identity makes a person automatically bad!

Yippee!! I'm on the aromantic spectrum sort of! It's hard to explain because my experiences with romance and attraction are so specific and intense... For me, platonic and romantic attraction are basically the same thing? There are differences in those I see as friends and those I see as partners, but the line is very blurry. I tend to enjoy typically romantic things, such as cuddling or kissing from friends! I experience love so intensely that it's hard to tell what I'm actually feeling! Because of this, I usually focus more on what I'm wanting. Do I wanna be friends, or just partners? Do I want physical affection or something more? So on and so forth. It's very confusing and sometimes troublesome for me and those I'm close with given how much I struggle with differentiating them. Especially since most people want to know "do you like me as a friend or as more?" Rather than "what do you want from our relationship"

As someone on the general aro spectrum this is a really nice video, it made me realize there’s a lot of overlap in the labels under the umbrella. Partially a lot of these because yea idk what romantic attraction feels like, but if someone falls in love with me im more likely to fall for them- except that’s like a .0056% chance of happening- but also all those dates sounds cute and fun to go on. My aromantic experience is just friends with benefits, but the benefit is just me living life easier. Like for example i am fine with finding a life partner or going on dates, but thats only for the benefit of "having someone taller than me so i can grab that one snack on the upper corner of the shelf", "opeen that one bottle, bc i am too weak to snap it open", "an excuse to go outside"... Im still unsure whether i can call myself aro, but I'm slowly realizing that my view of romance is different than nost people. Like thinking about your type, daydream about the best couples in your head, the perfect date, prince charming, etc. When a friend asked me at which age i want to start dating (was around 10, 12) and i said 18, bc i didn't felt ready currently and thought maybe when i reach adulthood, then id be ready. I was surprised that they were surprised, bc it sounded logical to me. When i think about romance now, its not like im disgusted or anything or cant understand people when they say i are so in love to want to do anything for that person. I thought about it and id be ok if i were to get into a relationship, the benefits definitely helped with realizing that it might be good hahhahaha. But I'm also content with being single or at least for a long time. (Like im surprised that people tend to stress you about finding a life partner. Like if it happens it happens, if we vibe we vibe. Ok i do think i have an attraction towards male characters, but thats more like aesthetic attractions or i just like their personality. For example i have a obsession with hawks from mha in a way, like i love that man's personality, wings, every frame hes on screen, have hundreds of his fanarts saved on my phone (to use as profile pics). But the second i think about dating him, kiss him or anything romantic or intimate at all, it feels uncomfortable, weird and also kinda disgusting in some aspects. Even if i dig a real life mens aesthetic, it feels more cosplay than anything, and i have a more stronger desire to BECOME him than actually dating him. Like who tf doesn't want to become a sexy man with dope as drip??? Anyways its 4 am, im tired, i like ranting and its probably bc of my adhd idk.

My only personal edit would be that I can get that butterflies/anxious/jealous crush feeling for people I'm sexually attracted to and/or people I really want to be friends with. I've never gotten that feeling for someone and felt the desire to start a romantic relationship and be lovey-dovey with them. It makes it kind of complicated because I'll be getting that butterflies/crush feeling for people that I just want to bang and/or befriend.
