We've done all of our videos on the M50 and a Hero 7 Black. The M50 is a little beast of a camera! We did a ton of research not only in the choosing of the camera but also in their platforms. The m50 gets you a great image, decent range of native lenses for someone with a realistic budget (looking at you sony) and a size that makes it so usable. The 11-22mm is super nice and the 22mm is great for lowlight. Picked up the 18-150mm lens and although its not the fastest, the range image quality and size of the lens has been great! I shot with the 18-150mm for almost all the of shots I ended up using in our Belize edit. Love your channel, been watching for a while. We will definitely be checking out your new channel!

@Coo Koo I have an m50 and use it as my primary for recording but I also have two Sony ZV1s I use for overhead and secondary cameras. I would recommend the ZV1 over the m50 because it works great out of the box in low light, 4K, and autofocus. Plus the ZV1 has a clean hdmi out which on the m50 you have to turn off autofocus to achieve.

Great video. It seems people are really flocking to both the EOS-R and the m50 recently, and it's because of 'real world' users like us. I routinely get lots of questions and compliments from media camera folks when I shoot events with the R, and a lot of it is curiosity about my getting shots down low with the flippy screen (not laying across the floor), or the 'portrait' shots from down low, touch clicking the shutter as I hold the camera sideways with the touchscreen out. The M checks all the boxes. My original 'video' DSLRs were a 5Dii eventually supplemented with a 70D as a B-cam. The 70D's crop sensor was a nice complement to my full frame cams - great for a long lens at events, but really nice with video shoots - I'd stick a 50 f1.4 on the crop and an 85 f1.8 on the 5Dii. The m50 becomes that complement, and now it's becoming my family function/travel camera too. I bought the EOS-R the day it came out, and it's my main work camera (the 5Dii has my 70-200 f2.8 IS pretty much permanently mounted on it, as I shoot events with the R and the 5Dii with a 24-70/f2.8ii and the big lens). The R has become my main work camera, but I sold my 70D to an aspiring student recently, and missed having a great crop sensor video B-cam and the m50 fits that slot nicely. I love the way it fits in my hand, even though it's tiny. Canon is king of ergonomics. It shoots better video than the old 70D - or the 80D for that matter. I'm finding that I take it more for run n' gun stuff too. With the M22 lens, adapter & 50 F1.4, a Manfrotto Pixie 2, an ND filter, and my Rode Wireless Go, I'm ready to shoot anywhere, anytime. There's a reason why Canon makes up 40% + of the global camera market. Like 'kodachrome' they're synonymous with 'camera'. Something that just 'works', is easy to use and get great results, and now, comes in a size that you can fit in the palm of your hand - but can still mount a 70-200 f2.8 IS ii on. Keep on rockin' the great vlog!

Great video. Glad to see some love for the M50. I've noticed a lot of videos lately coming out where people are finally realizing the M50 and the EOS R are much better cameras than the specs suggest. I have been very tempted to switch to the a6400 in the past few months, but it's always that ease of use and that killer touch screen on the M50 that makes me stay with it. Also nobody has ever said the image quality on any of the videos Ive made on the M50 is not good. I installed the Technicolor Cinestyle profile on my M50 and it gives a little flatter picture profile that helps a bit with dynamic range. You may want to give it a try.

One thing that you did not mention is how incredible this camera becomes when you add a speed booster. Viltrox has an amazing M to EF mount speed booster. I can really tell the difference between my SL2 and the M50. (The M50 is sharper that the 80d with the new processor) Recently covered a conference on my channel and the M50 looked amazing! Definitely a solid choice, especially for content creation! Cannot argue one bit about the bang for the buck and the usable content creation features in the M50. As somebody who splits their camera between content creation and casual cinema shorts, IQ definitely means a lot to me. Not sure if your A cam was the Z6 or the A6400, but the image was SO much better than the M50. I personally found my A5100's 1080p to be way cleaner and high resolution than my M5's mushy 1080p, which is why I ended up switching. Definitely a thumbnail beast. This bit of the video got to me and I feel like I should make it known -- Canon will never provide a firmware update for a camera unless it's some sort of catastrophic failure with the camera.

Isn't canon supposed to bringing out a mark 2 version to this camera soon. Been very tempted with the m50/5 but holding out for the rumoured new release. I have the R and the footage is lovely, but heavy for hand held vlogging.

For making travel videos , the G85 or any Panasonic has the stabilization I would need without a gimbal or stabilizer. But the image quality on every other similarly priced camera seems to blow the g85 out of the water . What would you recommend?

Vincenzohh g85 has amazing picture quality there is no other cam that „blows it out of the water“ video quality is even better than in many much more expensive cams.

Yeah us Fuji users barely exist but we do 😂 I’m looking for an upgrade camera for my buddy, I got him a lumix GH1 as a beginner camera and put the 100mbps hack on it. It’s either the A6500 or the M50 but he has always liked Canon even though he’s never had a camera. Bonus as well the M50 is a complete steal for its price!

I have to ask, have you ever tried doing a night time long exposure time-lapse with the m50 ? I am thinking of getting an M50, but I am seeing a lot of posts about it's long exposure limitations.

Man i'm really debating weather I should go with the a6400 or M50 and I don;t know which one! It's a struggle!!! Lol

I want to say thanks. My old Nikon d3100 I have been using for my channel has died and I have to replace it soon. I am going to get the M50.

The 80D can do ALL-i though (90mbps 24fps, instead of 30mbps), none of the other APSC Canon camera can do that.
@MicheletDiez5 жыл бұрын
but the m50 is just lighter, I have the 80D and I wish it was mirrorless.
@clowerbtw5 жыл бұрын
Isn't the ALL-i codec Motion+JPEG, a horrendously bloated codec with little usable data? Correct me if I'm wrong I know that is the primary complaint with the 1DXii and 5DIV not sure about the 80D
@MicheletDiez5 жыл бұрын
@@clowerbtw I just know that the 80D can become really heavy files 4gb or so, for a 20-22 min clip, and it gets split. I think the m50 has smaller files, I just have the 80D because if a better photo camera than the m50 and I mainly work as a photographer.

I LOVE the ALL-I in the 80D. I rely on it as much as DPAF.

ive found out the 80D splits files around the 15 min mark and I don't think its due to the SD card speed. On my work field it's not too big of a deal, or maybe it is but ive gotten used to it. In the long run 80d is easier to work with because of the dedicated dials, but i still prefer the M50 cause of its size, especially on this age of gimbals and stabilizers

Did you do a comparison between RX100 mark V and M50 ? If not I think you should

Wow, that makes me want to buy it.

I don't remember the last time I recorded myself while seeing it. I frame the shot, hit the button, and hope! And probably have a higher tolerance for iffy shots. I'm not running a camera channel. :D

Is Go Pro Hero 7 better than M 50. If I have already Go Pro Hero 7 does it make sense in having M 50 or Sony A6400. Please make a comment.🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

120fps @720p for video ,comedic actually ,add to that ,that ridiculous crop factor in 4k,nope I'll pass. Technology has moved on. If you're on a budget ,although the Sony A6400 is more expensive, for value for money it's better. The drawbacks in the Sony menu system/touch options is fixable via an software update. Maybe I,m a bit biased as I just got the A6400 Lol, and I have the A7. Did you flog the A6500, by any chance cheers?
