The abusive relationship of the Dr. Jamison towards his daughter Lydia is BY FAR the most distressing and horrific aspect of this Story. The SCP comes in as different metaphors for real self-harming behavior & more, giving this horror a poetic aspect. Thanks for the Video! Very apt for October!

All he had to do was say he's proud of her anyway and he could have done nothing else different and it would have worked out so much better because then she wouldn't be holding on to that trauma. Yeah he'd have high expectations for her but everything would have went a lot better if he had just said that to her at that important time. Heck it would have changed his Outlook as well.
@quicksilvertongue3248
@quicksilvertongue3248 11 ай бұрын
I think calling him abusive is overselling it. He's certainly not a great parent, but ultimately he just had one really bad day, in a very high pressure situation, and then didn't reverse that decision as quickly as he probably should have. Ultimately, I think the fault lies with those who blacklisted him and made it so difficult for him to provide for his family. Expecting him to maintain a Jesus level of unconditional love and self sacrifice indefinitely under such punishing circumstances is not reasonable.
@hawkticus_history_corner
@hawkticus_history_corner Жыл бұрын
Jesus this whole thing was a mess. Jameson was a man who lost everything except his daughter and then had some sort of breakdown after he saw the way out collpase in fromt of them. Obviously thats way too much to be putting on your daughter but him just falling apart like that is, sadly, believable. Which makes what Lydia did afterwards even more sad. Just, just an awful time all around

Y’know, one of the worst things you can do with your trauma is trying to compare it to others. It creates a pride in the pain that’s sure to lead you way off a good path forward. For your own sake, realize that pain is relative, and that your pain is just as tragic and important as anyone elses and vice-versa. It’s how we form bonds with eachother instead of burning bridges as an emotional response to the pain we’ve been forced to carry within.

This one was brutal, but such a gripping narrative, exactly the kind of anomalously enhanced horror I came to expect from an SCP. It's a pretty straight forward story, but it leaves a lot of potential space to explore with how this anomaly works, it could be used in many ways, anything from a very risky impersonation concoction to a rather horrific weapon. I mean, you can literally melt people with it, think of the narrative possibilities for a tale.

I am probably going to explain why a single dad who is a doctor can’t afford to support himself and his daughter. What I am getting from this story is that dr. Jamison had a very nasty divorce with his wife which somehow caused to be either got blacklisted from the company where he practiced medicine and now he can’t get a consistent job as a doctor. Normally in court, between children the court favours the mom because the law that children are more likely to be with there moms. In this situation but somehow Dr. Jamison fought so hard to keep his daughter and knows how to take care of her. It is possible that his ex wife either cheated on him or started to become neglectful to take care of their daughter. This explains the torn photo. Also the reason he lose most of his income that he saved up to support his family but as you know courts aren’t nasty when it comes to the care of children. He did win his custody of his child but he came to the point where he became a low income individual. If that explains why a doctor doesn’t have enough money to support himself and his daughter. I think it is good enough.
@quicksilvertongue3248

Most likely the mother was a predatory sociopath who only bore a daughter for the sake of hooking a rich man in order to steal all his money by divorcing him. Our legal system does a great job of allowing evil women to get rich this way. Jameson's love for his daughter was finite, yet infinitely greater than the mom. He was lying to himself when he said it was okay for his ex-wife to take everything but the daughter from him. Sadly, if you're suffering badly enough in all other aspects of life, loving your child likely cannot be maintained.

Confused by comments from 24h ago when the video is 4m old, but just wanted to say, your work is amazing TES, keep that shit tf up, you almost always seem to know just what’s right to cover… though I daresay some older SCPs worth the time have been missed… generally your content always covers the best, and even with all the time that must go into finding that, the content itself is still good. Hell yeah. Keep that shit up

RIP that one dealer kid who got brain-bashed. Let's hope he managed to patch himself up somehow, but I doubt it since they haven't found him yet

If he’d lived the Foundation would have listed him as a Person of Interest, and there probably would have been an addendum where he’s being questioned about where he found the Reshape

Man … now that I'm a parent these really destroy me, if i can wish for only one thing in life is to never be this kind of person to my child, even in my darkest most difficult moment.

😢 that one was gut punch 🤜 . In the end I think it was a broken heart that killed him even if he could have I don’t think he would’ve let it go cause it said he tried to embrace her tighter before he expired

You're telling me that the SCP Foundation doesn't pay a doctor well enough to raise a single kid?

He wasn't a Dr with the SCP foundation, he was blacklisted from a bunch of the hospitals according to the document, and he likely had to pay a sizable amount of money to his ex-wife, knowing how divorce works in the USA.
