I don't own a vw engine yet but i enjoy watching all yours and vwdarin's vw related video's You are both sharing a lifetime's worth of knowledge from two different perspectives. I love hearing about your driving the dunes. Its such a young mans game and im not feeling that young anymore. Id love to get back into the dunes maybe with a vw.

+builtrodewreckedit Thanks for your loyalty and friendship. It is hard for me to talk about those old sand days without getting the itch to do it again. VW engines are so dereable and there is a lot of room for error IMHO. You will manifest one if you keep thinking about it.

TheEZGZ what do you think about engle w120 with 1.25 rockers in a 2276? Heads are wedge ports 44x37.5 with 650 springs. Chromoly push rods

I like the stock german steel lifters reground. I have had many of the other after market ones fail. especially the ones with the holes. stock springs work fine it all depends on how many rpms you are revving I never run my vw engine over 6800. but usually not even that high anyway.
@TheEZGZ5 жыл бұрын
Your running a lot more cam and a lot heavier springs to see those kind of RPMs. I like something that run's all day at under 5k and gets fair mileage.

Thank you EZGZ for all your videos and sage advice. I'm beetle shopping at the moment. I drove my friends in high school and have always wanted a classic beetle. Thank you again!

+Ian McClendon I hated Volkswagens in HS. Especially Buss's. I was almost 40 when I got my first ride in VW sand car and that was the game changer. We were always wrenching and trying to make our cars lighter and faster. I accumulated enough parts to get a bug together to drive back and forth to work. Had one ever since.

dear Ezgz, great lesson! it makes perfect sense... I'm going to watch your video about springs; I really like this subject. are you considering making a video about the cam's specs? cheers!

morning EZ. I have an Erson Cam. Have you ever heard of them? It's an Erson H1V2 with .350 valve lift, .006 valve lash, 290 duration, .320 cam lift, 107 lobe center. Do you know what Engle it would be close to?
@TheEZGZ8 жыл бұрын
+chris hormachea That's is an old name. Kinda like Isky Engle has a online catolog. If I were you I would look there in the VW section. Thanks for watching and commenting

Holly crap so much to think about, So glad you made this video.Thank you for pointing this out, Can you please do a video on how to lighting the lifters or have you already done one for this?
@TheEZGZ8 жыл бұрын
I don't lighten lifters. I just put on heavier springs and run expensive oil.
@tommy20596 жыл бұрын
smart man good video
@betareybill94005 жыл бұрын
It does help if you can lighten the lifter in theory...IF the lighter lifter were just as robust as the heavier/denser lifter (BUT the same could be said of the pushrod, which you so eloquently explained deforms at much higher rpm's) which is why the heavier/denser lifter is required if building a performance engine and running at hog rpm.

Good video, thanks for sharing. What were those last pushrods? I've seen some HD aluminium rods on sale, about 2x the CroMo rod prices. Are they worth paying extra for?
@TheEZGZ8 жыл бұрын
+Jon Laws I bought these because they were cheap and I thought I would give them a try. carcraftstore.com/mantonpushrods.aspx

No I do not but not a bad idea ether. Never really felt or saw anything that looked like trouble. I will try and remember to have a closer look next time. Thanks for the heads up. Always more to learn.

TheEZGZ what all do i need to buy to install a 110 cam in my bug? Im asking everybody but im not getting a solid response. Hope you can help out
@angelgil95277 жыл бұрын
what do daul carbs do ? do they increas horse power? torque? or are they just for looks
@TheEZGZ7 жыл бұрын
It increases Horsepower and Torque and when using a performance cams allows it to idle smoother than stock if you use the Dual throat carbs on both sides. Port on Port baby. It;s the only way to fly.
@angelgil95277 жыл бұрын
TheEZGZ thanks because im trying to fly appropriately

Weight them. The engine doesn't like a heavy valve train.
