When I was a child in 1977, 10 years old, I had a projector throw a roll of paper under Roynel brand, and I used to draw customized cartoons, static pictures, non movement, just one lens, metallic case and a simple bulb. The projector here shown has two lenses, giving effect of movement. Great! Huggs from 🇨🇱 Santiago, Chile SouthAmerica. 😉😀

The card stock that was used to make the lamp housing, was used through several manufactured products in it's time. Camera housings, toys, even car and truck interiors. This toy housing would have been steam bent. The material used to assemble it is called buckram and was used to cover books.

I guess it was used as it would not heat up too much with the close contact to the bulb & would protect a 50's kid from contact burns.

ages have past, since these machines had been coveted, no longer seen as the wonderous piece of human ingenuity that they are. stained and replaced, rusted and worn, these machines wither in silence and suffering. yet even in the cold, uncaring world, unable to see the perfection in even the oldest of machines. there are the faithful, those that know the centuries of curiosity, and hard work, in each of these relics. these faithful few that rip away the cruel chains of rust, and remind these hardworking machines. that no matter how old they are, they will always be the glorious creations of mankind, deserving of respect and admiration. praise the wheel, praise progress.

Wow, the movie at the end was epic. The suspense, the drama, the action were out of this world, Hollywood can take note from this for future movies. Almost forgot, a very good restoration but for the light bulb cover i would try to use hard leather or something similar to the original piece in order to be as authentic as possible

I had a Thing-Maker as a kid in the 60's. Plug it in, heat the metal mold up and pour goop in to cook up little Creepy Crawler creatures. Hot enough to blister a finger. Safety concern? We didn't touch it until the creatures cooled, problem solved!

that's both a quite neat design and a little painful to watch as the end, this uneven blinking and image offset... but otherwise alternating those two sets of image make for a pretty well done feeling of animation, I like it. otherwise great restoration, so many little parts ! an good idea to replace some rivets with threadlocked screws, it's probably better this way.

Was going to say it's not a movie projector, it's a still picture projector but then I see it really is kind of a movie , a two - picture animation. Never seen anything like that. One of cooler toys from the 60s I remember my sister got from somebody for Christmas a Kenner Give- A- Show projector with reels of 8mm cartoons on continuous wind reels like an 8 track tape. My sister didn't know how to use it right and broke all the films to which I then fixed it and used to show movies on the wall. Tennessee Tuxedo, Mr. ED,

Disney had a product in the 1970's similar the the Kenner Give-a-Show, called the Donald Duck projector, also using 8mm continuous loop films. It came with brief black-and-white clips from *Snow White, Peter Pan,* a Goofy cartoon, and one other I don't remember (you'd think it would have to have been Donald Duck, though, right?). I believe the film was moved by a hand crank, as opposed to the Kenner projector, which I think moved the film with a battery-powered mechanism.

@@oliverbrownlow5615 no, Kenner one had hand crank. I think they might have made a later one that had motor, or even one like a TV that had motor driven. They made some crazy stuff.

Great restoration and filming, as usual, but this time I can't give it the thumbs up because you absolutely have to use a 3-wire cable and ground the housing if you make it from metal, otherwise there is a risk of a deadly electrical shock.

Oh wow ok 😐 You’re right tho, but the plug and the switch are brand new with only two slots. The socket is in bakelite so there almost is no possiblity to have voltage contact. Well I agree with you, it would have been safer 🙌

Yea, you had my heart going when you plugged that raggedy cord in. And that's 220 volts not 110 like here in the states. 😊 You're a brave man . Really nice restoration tho. Looks great 👍
