I agree Darth Vader could make great use of a heavier and more powerful lightsaber with his physical strength, height, and reach. However, I think Darth Maul would also do well with one. He has demonstrated his ability to fight with more exotic styles of lightsabers while being quite a physically strong fighter and he also did quite well with a single blade once his second blade was cut off. Another fighter who would do well with such a weapon is Anakin Skywalker post turn to the dark side but before actually becoming Darth Vader. As we see in Revenge of the Sith, Anakin becomes much more aggressive and violent in taking out the trade federation and the Jedi Temple and I honestly felt at this point his traditional blue Jedi weapon seemed a bit feeble in his hands for what he was doing. I could see a turned Anakin still sporting all his limbs, wielding a cross guard lightsaber with as you say, so much energy that it would explode without the vents to relieve the pressure, much like Anakin himself.

For Jedi, cutting the hilt is completely fine as it's main purpose is to disarm the opponent (a preferred outcome to killing for a Jedi) which means there's no reason sith would care at all since disarming ur opponent is kind of a neutral thing that can just happen from either side. The only reason sith care about the trakata form (lightsaber off then on) is because they see it as weak whereas the Jedi see it as deceiving an opponent which isn't the Jedi way.

Issue is. When watching the films, they work together on their own. The Clone Wars TV show is one massive retcon trying to cram a bunch of plots in between 2 + 3 that don't work. Thats why they constant forcing of Ahsoka into plotpoints is problematic.... I'm definetly going to tackle this subject though... :D - Thom

@@TheFandomeClips the way I see it is we have no where near enough context about anakins life from the movies you might get to see a month in total over a almost quarter century of his life from the movies so to show every factor that would lead to his turn to the dark side there wouldn’t be enough time to show it in the trilogy the mortis arc alone could be a movie that’s why we needed a show to show the day to day of his life in a coherent way that makes sense that’s why they put all the important plot points in clone wars to show the change because George Lucas knew that it would be problematic as you said but the clone wars was referenced in a new hope which shows the idea isn’t new so it’s not a retcon

The whole thing with the crossguard ISN'T that a crossguard wouldn't be a fantastic idea. It's that the crossguard is ALSO made of lightsabers. That's like making a crossguard out of two daggers. I actually think a cross guard wouldn’t be ridiculous for form II if it is possible to get the laser quillions without significantly increasing the apparent weight of the blade I could see them being a potentially useful tool for a form II user especially if they are angled up more (like you can do in Jedi Survivor). Also maybe it would be good for a form II user who has hybridized their style with form III or V. Another potential benefit of the heavier blade: it might make fighting someone using a Beskar weapon easier. Iirc one of the issues Jedi have with fighting Mandalorians is they aren’t used to countering a melee weapon with much weight/momentum. It is possible that a lightsaber with more weight of its own could help offset that issue.
@warlordofbritannia5 ай бұрын
So lightsabers don’t have mass but they do have weight? That’s…weird but makes sense in a “space wizard did it” type of way. I guess the law of conservation of mass/energy is the Force’s bissch.

When it comes to cutting off a limb instead of going for the saber I could see as wanting to collect it after killing a jedi like a certain coughing robot, love that you pointed out the downgrade to the light saber fights in the Disney movies as they bug the hell out of me with a lot of aiming for the blade not the person and unguarded spins, the original trilogy felt more intentional with it's movements like a stalking lion about to pounce and the prequels a display of what superhumans with a spider sense like the force can achieve at their best and I agree Vader is the perfect person to use a cross guard being more methodical plus being half robotic able to deal with any scratches it could do if he thinks it will win the fight, cool video as always though guys keep it up.

Originally he just wanted revenge and his sisters back but declaring yourself as king alienates players like stannis and others and makes alliances difficult. I can give the fights a good bit of leeway as if you think about it training wise things have gone down hill with how the story shows it. Old Republic lots of fighting of jedi and sith so the training and experience was at its best and that is why those trailers for the games are so good. Clone wars was just delecting blasters and form training without sword on sword fights because their were so sith but their was droids. But they still trained by masters but every few fought other lightsabers their was less than 10 lightsaber users for cis or sith. Empire time old masters who survived the clone wars but are old and focus more on timing and landing a single blow as they can't endure a long fight. Or they are young untrained like luke and are pretty bad and loose a hand. First order time their are no masters and everyone is just making it up as they go along and learning what works as it works.
