I fully believe that some of the gods in ASOIAF are real. Perhaps, they're jerks and don't care about humans, or maybe they're limited in how much they can participate in the affairs of mortals. I think that the Old gods and R'hllor are real, but I don't think that the Seven are.

The Greyjoys are a good example of how the Cult of Strength fucks a society in the long run, even if it benefitted them in the past.

In a life or death battle I got daemon he showed way more experience in 2 major battles in his area while Jamie would beat him in tourney but 1 battle he actually fought as the lead he lost to the young wolf 💯

I want a time-bending show of just two of them going around, messing/fixing all the things that they couldn't do separately in their own times.

Not only we have seen Ser Cole defeating Daemon, we also have seen Jaime taking care of participating in tournaments to assess the capabilities of possible rivals. So there is a level of foresight there. Remember what he said to Brienne, "there are three knights in Westeros that can defeat me". Intelligent to have them identified! even though he could have bypassed one or two more. Would ever Daemon have worried about that?

In the show it appears Damon was the better in war zone combat and Jaimie better at 1 v 1

Daemon is very cool and competent in his own way, especially with his dragon, but we also see him lose his very first fight in the series to Cristin Cole. Jaime, on the other hand, is undefeated in the books and the show untill he's captured by the Starks, and even then it's said he killed a dozen men trying to bring him down. He's pretty confident that he could take on The Mountain if he still had his right hand. George R.R. Martin himself has said that he thinks Jaime could defeat Eragorn, who is a mythical savoir of humanity with Elf blood and is annointed by God.

I agree with almost every point made except you've overlooked one distinction - Jaime is a knight and Daemon is a killer. Daemon's level of real world combat experience combined with wielding Dark Sister give him the advantage but the deciding factor is that you misjudge how Daemon would react in a fight considering what we see in the show. Consider these moments - Daemon laughs at Vaemond during Laena's funeral, he calmly intercedes to stop Cole during Alicent's rant in Driftmark demanding an eye for an eye and then calmly stepping in front of Aemond during the Last Supper in the Red Keep when Daemon 2.0 apparently wasn't in the mood to have pork for dinner. At no point did it appear that anger or rage would get the better of him. Lastly, could Jaime have coldly bifurcated the offending party's head upon hearing an insult hurled at Cersei only to then respond to Otto's subsequent shout to have him disarmed with a quiet and simple "No need" as he wiped the dead man's blood from his sword? I think not. Daemon was considered the most dangerous man in the realm and that isn't a moniker given to Jaime despite his prodigious talent. Daemon wouldn't get rattled in a real battle nor would he mess around or showboat like he did in his tourney loss to Cole. He could have insulted Vaemond or challenged him after his pronouncements but instead he cut him down with brutal efficiency. I think Jaime is more likely to let his emotions impact his fighting than Daemon rather than it being the other way around. Daemon is a killer... not a knight. That is the real difference and deciding factor. Well, that and wielding Dark Sister doesn't hurt.

Is there even enough characters for a top 10 Warriors from HotD? Daemon, Criston are the only sure fire names on that list that I can recall.

One thing I would like to note as far as the training that they would’ve gotten with weapons and all Daemon have been trained by members of the Kingsguard we see it in the main show where one of the members serves as master of arms, so we can somewhat make it a speculation that the Targaryen liked to have their children trained by loyal people, and who better than the people who are supposed to be guarding our lives one of the seven best Warriors in the kingdom at their time.

Ironically Jaime's fight IQ, anger, arrogance, and tactical abilities all improved after he lost his hand. His arrogance came from his outrageous skill. Deprived of that he became a much more intelligent and calm fighter and a better and more honorable man. I always wanted to see Jaime gain his greater humility and cool tactical head without losing his hand. Had this been possible he would have been truly unstoppable in combat or on the battle field. I only wish he could have gained this without losing his hand but then I suppose we would have lost his brilliant character arc.

I fully agree with the results here, though I might give a slightly more favorable win to Jaime than you did. While I do agree with the fight IQ and anger issues being the main source of Jaime's victory I also think with these two valyrian steel doesn't make as much of a difference as some others seem to believe. It is unbreakable and never loses its edge, yes but it's main advantage is being lighter and therefore quicker than a regular sword. Jaime is notably stronger and more muscular than Daemon meaning he simply won't be weighed down as much by his weapon. I've done HEMA in the past and in my experience one thing that can tip the scale is a fighter becoming worn out by the weight of their weapon and their arm getting more and more tired from repeatedly swinging it. To me this is the true advantage of valyrian steel. It's sharper and stronger but it doesn't cut through other steel so functionally in a duel it acts as just a sword. However being lighter weight without sacrificing any strength or cutting power is a HUGE advantage against some opponents. In the case of Jaime however, because he is notably stronger than Daemon I don't think it will make any difference. His sword will be of the best quality possible without having valyrian steel and his superior strength means he is unlikely to get tired out faster under the weight of his own weapon. To me weapons and equipment in this fight are dead equal so neither will really have an advantage on that front. This takes it back to skill and fight psychology and in both categories, Jaime wins.

Great comparison. But I do have to wonder if the fact that they come from different eras might also play into it. Swordplay changes from century to century, so it's entirely possible that techniques and skills are better or more refined in one time period vs another. And with 200 years between them, it's likely another feather in Jaime's cap, given that "how to fight with a sword" has likely come a long way since Daemon's time ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The books would give daemon the edge is physicality. The feat of leaping from one dragon to another to slay aemon is pretty insane. Think daemon could heavily tilt Jaime easy with the cersei incest stuff while daemon couldn't careless about banging his niece. I also think daemon is smarter and more calculated, while Jaime puts his faith in his skill over his IQ. But Jaime still wins based purely on how highly George rates him

This is not a close fight Jaime wins this easily. But daemon is not some complete bum or anything he’ll put up a respectable level of fight for a character of his skill. Unless something happens there’s no situations where daemon is the one that comes out of this alive.

I doubt Daemon was the best fighter in his era. Clearly Dalton Greyjoy and Criston Cole were better than him. A guy who been taking lives since he was ten and the guy who confident enough to suggest a 3v1 duel would be something to beware of.

Yeah this one is so close and to be honest with you I think as Daemon got older he kept getting smarter and his physical abilities didn't deteriorate that much so I could totally see this going Jamie's way

Jaime is the better swordsman. Daemon is the better warrior. I agree with you, in a sword fight, Jaime probably wins the majority of duels. But take away the swords, or even their sword hand, and I give it to Daemon 9/10 times. I'd put my money on Daemon in a knife fight, or a bar fight, or using, well, just about any other weapon. Even Jousting. Jaime's won some tilts, but he's not amazing, certainly nowhere as good at the joust as he is at the sword. He lost to both Loras and Jorah Mormont.

Uncle no brows probably wins. Jaime is probably the "better" fighter, but he's more honorable (in a fighting context) and Daemon has no issues fighting dirty whatsoever, Daemon is faster and has dark sister, plus books are impossible to judge by so going by shows, Daemon's armor is so much better than any armor shown in thrones. Daemon also was only "beaten" once in a situation where going by tourney standards, he already had beaten crispy cole, cole did a cheap shot when already beaten so that's not a great thing to bring up for Daemon "losing". Jaime is a beast, but cares more about fighting honor than Daemon, whom is considered as a ruthless bastard by literally everyone and earned that reputation in both tourney as well as years of war.

Brienne thinks to herself during their fight that he'd be putting up even more of a fighter if his hands were unbound, yet Jaime still attacks her while he is bound, malnourished, and hasn't had any exercise in months because he''s been locked in a dungeon. He certainly didn't have to deal with low self-esteem

In hopes of not getting roasted to oblivion, i have to ask. Do to this close level of...well...everything..to Jamie .would Daemon be one the list of those fighters who could beat the mountain in a duel ? I want to say "yes" and that he would be rather high on that list, since he is aparantly a slightly worse Jamie in terms of skills with some dirty fighting skills of bronn and of course with the "dark sister" to boot, buuut...y'know...that ego and temperament of his are quite fierce, so i am would rather here out those more knowledgable then myself.
