I love your decorations for Easter! And I love your new Easter dress! When I was a child, in the 60s, my mother always dressed my sister and I in dresses with can-cans underneath, little white gloves, and new white patent leather shoes. She would always wear a new dress, gloves that pulled up halfway between her wrist and elbow, high heels, and a hat that usually had the little bitty mini veil. Ready for church! My mother use to steam her ham like that except she didn’t use brown sugar, just the water. It does make it more tender. Your new dress is pretty. I’m like you as I have varicose veins from working as a nurse for a lot of years so therefore I do t wear many dresses. No panty hose for me either. Yes I can remember as a little girl getting a new dress and some patent leather shoes with little white anklets. We also wore gloves and sometimes a little straw hat and purse. Sweet memories.😢 I’ve never heard of a Bin Store, but wish we had one. You’ll have to show us your Easter Frock when you get all dressed up. 🐰✝️🐇

We love country ham. We like it in grits with red eye gravy, with eggs or in a homemade biscuit. I have memories of going with my Grandpa to his smoke house and seeing the country hams hanging up curing. Country ham doesn’t taste the same as it did out of his smokehouse. Yum

Oh we love country ham biscuits here. I make your biscuits quite often and we have ham on them with either pumpkin butter or apple butter. The sweet and the salty on those biscuits is divine!

I have had country ham for Thanksgiving (along with turkey) Christmas and Easter for 65 years. My parents used to boil whole country hams in a lard can and then wrap in about 10 blankets and leave it overnight. Unwrap the blankets the next morning and ham is done. So good! I don't do the lard can method these days but was a tradition in our family. We eat country ham all year long now. We are from Kentucky. GO BIG BLUE!!

✍Hello Leslie...So good to see you tonight. That country ham would be delicious with some Northern beans and fried potatoes and sweet cornbread. I think just about everybody at one time or another in the 40-50-60-70s we always got new Easter clothes. When I had my girls I'd buy or make Easter dresses for me and my girls. But like you said as we got older not so much. I guess I should decorate for Easter but have been ill. We should all be aware why Easter is so important to each one of us...Jesus paid the price not for anything He did but for Our sins. That thought that He suffered and was tortured for Our sins to save us should make us ashamed but also greatful...Thank You Jesus 🙏 Your decorations are pretty. The dress does look like Easter. I miss going to church but I just have to pray Jesus understands. Please continue to pray for me🙏I'm over Covid but the health issues with my kidneys and liver I had 3 months before Covid have come back. The Dr.had me get a prescription for an antibiotic and if that doesn't clear it up he's having me get a CT scan and possibly seeing a kidney specialist. Growing up, my mama would always use black coffee (like you use sugar water) to make red-eye gravy with the country ham. One morning I was drinking grape Koolaid from one of her coffee cups. I left it setting on the counter and mama poured that into the pan instead of the black coffee. She didn’t realize until it was too late. Daddy said it was the bed red eye gravy ever. 😊

Hey Leslie, we buy a whole Smithfield country ham for Christmas and share with family. We live just outside of Richmond, Va and Smithfield, Va is famous for country hams. We get our ham at Costco. They make the best ham biscuits. When we’re almost to the bone, put hock in great northern beans for another delicious meal. I do not like the packaged 2 slice ham, not salt cured. During the year get the Red eye country ham slices in the deli section to make ham biscuits.

It triggered an idea for another flavor to try would be to use maple flavor or syrup as well. I ate country ham when I was a kid and we lived in North Carolina. I love it especially on homemade biscuits. My grandfather used to smoke it in his smoke house. Great memories.

Leslie, I have vericose veins in the bend of my knee and slightly below. I buy inexpensive Elf or NYX foundation in a color a little darker than I get for my face. I add it to the lotion I put on my legs and it covers a bit and no need for pantyhose! A little confidence boost.
