John Galliano Is Leaving Maison Margiela (A Return To Dior Looming?)

It is rumoured that John Galliano may be leaving Maison Margiela soon to join Dior & Fendi. In this video we discuss all possibilities.
The musical chairs of creative directors continues. This time, it appears that John Galliano is preparing to step down from the helm of Maison Margiela, a Parisian house he has creatively led for 10 years.
It is believed that Galliano is set to make his official exit in the autumn of this year, a source for Fashionnetwork said, having decided to not renew his contract despite requests from executives.
A spokesperson for the brand’s parent company, OTB, told the media outlet: “As you know - and it is normal in our industry - there are always a lot of rumours when creative talents are concerned.
“We never comment on them. All we can say is that relations between John Galliano, Maison Margiela and our group chairman Renzo Rosso, are very good.”
Speculation about Galliano’s next step has already begun circulating online as many fashion houses are currently operating without a creative director following a slew of departures over the last year.
While Fashionnetwork said we could next see the veteran designer at Fendi, citing reports from insiders, Miss Tweed suggested Galliano could be making his way over to the LVMH-owned Dior.
Since his appointment at Margiela, Galliano has been widely praised for his theatrical takes on the fashion house’s heritage. His efforts also seem to be paying off financially, at a time when the current state of the industry has been less favourable for the luxury sector.
In its latest fiscal year report, OTB said Margiela’s turnover for the year to December 31, 2024, rose by 23 percent, driven by the Chinese and Korean markets, where sales were up 72.4 percent against 2022.

Rather than John Galliano going to Dior or any other brand, I would want him in his own brand, John Galliano by John Galliano again. With all of the events and even prior, with all the managing of Dior, John Galliano (the brand) was sent back and now is as a sleeping beauty. I think John has done more than enough for other brands and although he is a well known name in fashion, I want his own brand to shine and to continue down the brilliant path that it was on before

Galliano is a Creative Force...his past was as a sincere creative who was young and got carried away in the lifestyle of fame( drugs, alcohol and extreme behaviour) he had to re hab himself after his impact on Dior's brand was negative and his life fell apart. He grew up...and I believe he deserves and has made the most of a second chance at Margella...his interviews are humble he has a sincere desire to help Coutour rise and be the beacon of excellence that it always has been. His fearless desire to be creative at all cost makes him the powerful designer he is. I would love to see him return to Dior...and it would be a sign he has been forgiven for crossing a line with bad behavior. Thanks for the show !!

It's interesting that so many houses have been refreshing their creative direction of recent. Considering Galliano has such a distinctive vision (which would certainly displace existing clientele for many brands and not be a great fit), I wonder if he's been in talks with LVMH (or whoever the current owner is) to take back control over his namesake company? If rumours hold weight, it seems a likely move for his current renaissance and ultimately where it would make the most sense for John to be at this point in his career. So difficult to see him anywhere else if leaving Margiela.

The reason they wanted John out at Dior was squarely because of Celine and Phoebe and what she was doing over there at that house, times had changed on John and women changed and his overblown looks had become repetitive, the anti-semitic comments just help with the push out. but rumors were already swirling that they wanted him out. Look at John last three years at Dior and look at Celine, who is the contemporary woman in that time frame it's not Dior. Ayo! Long time since I’ve commented. But I believe Dior would great at Dior (again) but I doubt he would go. Fendi would be great also, given time to fully cultivate his intentions. Someone mentioned McQueen, which would be CRAZY!!! For sure he wants to change the narrative. The pressure of these jobs are insane. The pressure of simple senior level designer at any company is very intense. Victor and Rolf should return and to Margiela!!! Regarding his issues ( Galliano ) people change and grow and I believe people should be able to move past old problems if they truly left that shit in the past. Gucci was @ it's zenith during the Tom Ford days; Dior was both a critical acclaim & a commercial success when Galliano helmed the creative team. LV soard with Marc Jacobs...
