It has been reported that the "Gospa" was asked "Does God want all people to be Catholic?" and that she replied "no". Maybe the news reports are wrong but I only can go by what I read. I was interested in Medjegory for a while. It was quite the craze, but as soon as I heard this pronouncement that God wills all religions I knew immediately it was of the devil. It was during that time that a devout Doctor we were friends with told me to look at the apparition's feet to see if they're hooves. Yikes! Because the devil will impersonate the BVM. I believed it for years....financially supported Caritas here (Birmingham) every month+ then I read a statement that made me question the whole thing and I really started digging...if you dig deep enough you will find proof that this is a SHAM....I would hate to be the visionaries at the end of time!! Said that the feet were invisible but that when it walked, climbed or descended stairs, the ankle part was raised several inches off the floor / steps. ). Some people compare Medjugorje to Garabandal, and there are some geographic coincidences too. However, while Garabandal was neither accepted nor refused as a supernatural occurrence by the Church, Medjugorje has too many problems Garabandal did not have. Medjugorje was on several occasions studied, and by many Yugoslavian bishops rendered as *not* a supernatural event. Then Gospa (Our Lady in Croatian language) apparently protested against some of them, often accusing the local bishop for “not having faith”. Our Lady, to accuse? Compare this to Garabandal, where witnesses told that Our Lady requested them to give respect to priests *before* her. Many messages in Medjugorje were and are confusing, doctrinally are totally wrong, and in period from 1981 to 1984 especially, plagued with prophecies (with a short life span) that never came true. Not to mention Gospa, apparently, initially said she will appear *three times only*, and then .. we have 33 years worth of 'appearances'! Contradiction after contradiction. It is almost as somebody is insisting forcibly we should believe something that is not worth of a belief. Both the current bishop and the previous bishop did NOT and do NOT support the so-called "apparitions". They continuously discourage other bishops and priests of the world from sending people there. To a smart and obedient Catholic person, that is enough of a warning. But in today's deluded environment, every person THINKS to have the freedom and authority to do anything, authority above bishop's, each person "magically sees own spiritual advancement", disobeys orders and warnings at will .. therefore such pleas fall on deaf ears. Bishop of Mostar complains that nobody is listening to him. Medjugorje was, from day one, a place of mass-scale disobedience, on all levels, then a place of split, a money-making, money-laundering destination in one of the most lawless countries in the world, and an escapist "beach" of the so-called "spiritual tourism". There is a halo effect around Medjugorje that goes on for decades, with some apparent good side-effects, and some people may feel it is then from Heavens. However God may turn even devil’s workings into our benefit. Many times in history people have witnessed conversions and change of habits based on works of evil; say, a start of the world war may trigger a sudden interest in prayer and that prayer may genuinely transform many lives, but the cause of that conversion was not originally benevolent - it was started for our destruction. Some good side effects of the war do not mean we should proclaim beginning of a world war worth of a worship, and even expect the next one! Then we would be totally disoriented.

It does no good to convert to Catholicism if one does not believe the entire Catholic faith. Marie, I have an idea that you are a good and true-believing Catholic. I urge you to pull your sights away from apparitions that teach heresy ("all teligions are ewual before God") and to concentrate on the basics of our faith---Mass, Eucharist, Confession, rosary. Padre Pio is an established fact. Medjugorje is not accepted after a long process of checking out. There is a specific procedure that the Church follows. From some of the comments below, I get the impression people didn't watch the video. And for all the instances of miraculous healings, remember that Satan can also perform miracles due to his preternatural being. The Antichrist will be able to perform miracles but obviously not because of God's grace. Such miracles should be looked at in context of the first and most important question: do the apparitions teach truth? As a last comment, this so-called apparition has caused many to become ignorant of the true messages of Fatima and the consequences of following what we want to hear instead of what we need to hear.

I'm not aware of any official teaching of Pope Francis that says you do not have to be Catholic to be saved. In fact, Pope Francis has said that those who do not pray to the Lord pray to the devil and it is a contradiction to claim Jesus without the Catholic Church. Regardless, even if the Pope did say such a thing he would be wrong. He cannot officially promote error for the entire Church to believe but he can wrong and a heretic. The Church officially and has always taught that there is no salvation outside the Catholic Church, this can never be changed.

My understanding is Our Lady did not say all religions are the same. Instead what was said is that God's truth is present to a greater or lesser extent in all religions but that apparitions of his type only happen within the Catholic faith. In other words yes Catholics have the fullness of the faith but other faiths share in aspects of this. That makes sense to me when I see very Holy faith filled people in other faiths proclaiming Christ and the kingdom better than many Catholic brethren around me. You cannot limit God.

I see a lot of supporters of this “apparition” not actually addressing any of the points in the video. If it’s teaching something against Catholic dogma - it’s not from God. However, I am also interested in how many converts occurred from this. Is it possible that the visionaries were influenced by the diabolic and lied, but Our Lady has helped some of the zealous souls who went on pilgrimages there? At the end of the day, private revelations are unnecessary for salvation. So it’s best probably not to worry about this, as this is not necessary for salvation but it is also something that might lead to your condemnation if you become a formal heretic.

I have been to Medjugorje 4 times and can be put in the "believer" category. When our Blessed mother said that members of all religions were equal before God and presumably have an equal right to salvation as we were all made in Gods likeness and image. Its true that we are divided on earth when it comes to religious beliefs. What our Blessed mother said at the beginning to the visionaries is that Medjugorje was chosen because of its holding fast to the (Catholic) faith, for its loyalty. She told them to attend mass as often as possible as this is the highest form of prayer, and to go to confession at least once a month. Not very satan like would you say. There are many souvenir shops in Medjugorje but none of them try to coax you into buying any of their wares, its all very subdued. The "visions" have become secondary and Medjugorje has now become known as the confessional of the world.

The quote cited by the moderator here --- that the Blessed Virgin said that "all religions are the same," is not really what she allegedly said. She said something more akin to "all religions contain some truth," which from a Catholic perspective is true. Catholics believe that only the Church contains the fullness of the truth, but that in no way negates truthful aspects of other world religions. So, this message, at least, cannot be used to discredit the Medjugorje apparitions.

God gives grace to all men, both the good and the bad -- to the good that they may progress and persevere, and to the bad that they may attain faith, charity, contrition, and union with the true Church. Pope Innocent IV, some 800 years ago, granted use of local language in liturgy in Croatia and its territories - they were only ones in the entire Catholic Church world at that time and later allowed not to use Latin. That is why those territories have always had a special relationship with the Church, and many rules of the Tridentine mass were preserved long after the Vatican II reforms. That is why you saw little or no communion in the hand, only priest administering communion, etc. However, that, even with some conversions, many people of good will praying, fasting, etc. is totally unrelated to the problems with that ‘apparition’ that almost all of those people do not wish to hear about. Even priests are blinded and did not notice anomalies, but even published obvious problems as 'new truths.' There is even a new 'calendar' the alleged apparition introduced, and they printed it, etc. People only see what they want to see. They disregard warnings and conclusions of bishops from 1980s, they insist on ‘it must be true!’, like yourself, relying on sentiments and weak arguments, despite many crucial details pointing that suspicion and greater care would be a better course.

Medjugorje wreaks of the seedings heading towards a "one world religion", preying not only on the "faithful" but the "unfaithful" to add extra spice in their ruse over humanity. I find it interesting that the movement of "Our Lady of All Peoples" had the same theme in tact. For my own sake, I wanted to go through all the messages in detail and I have been researching them for two years, and I read them all wearing a prayer rosary. In no message did Our Lady say that it does not matter which Church you belong to. State in which message, you have them all at the Medjugorje stations. I read them all in detail, it doesn't say that anywhere. It is also not true that Our Lady says that all religions are the same, she does not mention it at all. They should read the messages, and not quote secondary sources that interpret or speak, and distort what was said.

Sadly, Mr. Veneri's attitude, comments regarding Fr. Laurentin and lack of knowledge of the subject matter negates any points that he may have. Fr. Gruner is right that Medjugorje should be tested. The testing has been taken over by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith for a good reason. Remember that there were lots of rumors and misinformation about St. Padre Pio that caused great troubles for his bishop as well. Many good people have opinions on Medjugorje both for and against. As always, we must look to official Church pronouncements and use caution and proper discernment regarding alleged apparitions.
