Guys, if you want to stop tampo from happening, just tell her upfront that you are going to go walk in the mall, or on the beach, by yourself, when she WANTS to do the tampo thing, and that you will be back when you think she might be done. I remember starting about $750 usd at first for the first year and she graduated this year. I paid about $1,100 for the last year. And this school was not based in Manila, but in Nueva Vizcaya.

This one hit close to home. My niece is studying to be a teacher there and is also going to be entering her 4th year. Even going to a public school with no tuition, there are many expenses. Uniforms, projects, baon, it just seems to never end. I honestly don't know how most students are able to afford a higher education without having a sponsor. Good luck to Anne and her future!

How much would you say it costs per year? My filipina has 2 years left in her teaching. She doesn't like to ask me for money but does on occasion when her parents are struggling to get money in time for a project or uniform and I am happy to help when I can. She might have to quit if her parents can't afford and I will help her stay studying if I can afford it. When I visited her last month her father was not working as he was waiting for surgery on his arm. I'm sure it makes things more difficult financially & I know she worrys about having to quit school if they can't afford it.

My fiancee is a little jealous at times. We were on a short holiday at Boracay Island and we were on one of the small buses. We were the only passengers, but a group of 5 or 6 pretty young women got on the bus. I could tell she got tense, but i put my arm around her shoulder and she immediately relaxed. We never said anything, but from that time i sensed a change in her. She now knows my love is just for her. Sometimes its the simple acts of human connection that are so important. HI Pea. Another very good post. Very interesting information. My ex wife must have been part Filipina. She never saved, never planned ahead and would never ever admit she was wrong. She had a car wreck once because she ran a red light at an intersection. Some how she concocted a story and said it wasn't her fault even though it was blatantly obvious she was. Also, thank you for supporting Anne. When I was going to college I had to work 40 to 60 hours per week because I paid it for it myself. It took me about 6 years. Anyway, I stuck with it and finished.

As a retired professor in bioethics and married American expat living in Davao as a permanent resident, I know your gift will provide benefits not yet imagined. My prayers are with your friend for a successful completion of her college education. Let me add a few comments about the first part of your video. Many of the characteristics you covered are positive and good, and they are exactly the reason why I am married to my fabulous Filipina wife. Fortunately, she has little or none of the negative characteristics you mentioned like tampo and being unable to accept responsibility when she messes up. She is more mature and self-confident in these instances than the Filipinas you described. That's why she is the queen of my mountain and the only one on the mountain. Filipinas need to discard the bad and improve on the negative to catch a Western man. (Obviously, men need to do the same to catch a good Filipina.) Hi Pea great video. That was priceless to see the look on Anne's face when you told her she would be supported to finish her last year of school. Education is very important and even more so in the Philippines. In the west it is easier for students to keep going to school as they can get a job to support their education unlike here where you need a college education just to get a simple job as a cashier in a store. In my experience, admission of fault is rare among women of any nationality. That's not particularly a Filipina thing and most men are used to experiencing this before arriving in the Philippines. Perhaps that brings the expectation that we would see it less here. Actually, we become willing to put up with it a bit more here, because other aspects of the Filipina personality are a breath of fresh air after the women of the west.
