Type1 for 49 years. Enjoy your food, don’t stress over it. I eat whatever I want, always have done. Ok I need to eat as healthy as I can, good veggies, proteins, fruits etc - vitamins and minerals. My blood sugars are better leaning towards lower carb. I enjoy sweet stuff, I have a sweet tooth!!! Don’t beat yourself up. Xxx

He has some really good advice on this matter and it's management of the condition, to keep blood glucose levels within certain parameters weather you have type 1 or type 2. I personally got for the time being, enough control by my lifestyle to not require medication. If I'm not over 130 organ damage is not happening, and I'd like to be between 80 to 100 with no more than a spike/rise to 120 after eating something.

Today this I don't know how some of my fellow type ones and many type twos are able to eat pancakes, pizza, desserts, etc., etc. I learned real fast after being diagnosed in 2009 with Type 1 diabetes that if I touch any of those foods my blood sugar is a mess for days even with insulin. I follow a very strict and austere diet

Love your channel! This was a great interview. It's given me a new perspective on how to manage my T2D (with insulin). Now I just have to learn to eat the foods I love in moderation. That's the hard part for me.

I agree that can be challenging. I generally try to do portion control by plating in the kitchen, weighing things out, or buying smaller portions. But it can be hard for me as well

Great video. I'm type 2 and a truck driver and my A1c is at a 10, I'm looking for things I can do and eat to help bring it down. I try to eat healthy while out on the road but I find myself buying a bag of chips or fried chicken or burger while out on the road. Looking for a few tips on what to eat and snack on while out on the road for a week.

Can you see a diabetic educator? Hopefully, they can learn about your options and help you. Can you make yourself sandwiches with things you like and increase your protein & veggies? I suggest more sliced real meat, less processed deli meat. More mustard, less mayonnaise, lots of lettuce. You can put the wet veggies in a separate container so it won’t make your bread soggy.

Other food options: make soup! A big pot of soup can be frozen into individual meals - heat & put in a thermos. Beef stew, chicken soup, chili, vegetable bean soup - put in spices that you like & they fill you up. A million times better than fast food on the road. Also, bananas & apples! Scrub & cut up carrots, celery, green beans. It takes time to prepare at home, but your food will taste a thousand times better & that A1C will come down, AND you will feel much much better! The time preparing good food will save you the time going to the doctor, and getting medicines, not to mention all the horrible health problems you are going to have if you don’t.

When I was diagnosed in 1970, my Air Force pediatrician told me something spot on: I didn’t really need to limit what I eat, but should just eat like all people should eat. Meaning make smart and balanced choices.

I’m all for eating in moderation but you have to find what works for you. The Bernstein approach would make me one depressed individual

Maybe you can eat a cookie and take a bunch of insulin to cover it. A cookie does damage to every organ in my body
