Besgrow also have a nice grade of Sphagnum moss here in New Zealand called petal grade Sphagnum which I also use, really awesome media to use.

What humidity level do cephalotus like? I have a dry and a humid area so I was wondering where I should put mine.

They can get used to both, but higher humidity is generally better for them. However, you need to ensure there is good airflow to prevent mildew which is prevalent in these plants

I GROW ALL MY CEPHALOTUS IN STRAIGHT LFS OR LIVE SPHAGNUM USING THE WATER TRAY METHOD OUT IN FULL SUNLIGHT & HAVE NEVER LOST A PLANT, I PRETTY MUCH GROW ALL MY CARNIVOROUS PLANTS IN JUST STRAIGHT LFS OR LIVE SPHAGNUM NOW, PLANTS DO AMAZING.

Glad you're feeling better, sorry to hear about the rough time in Portugal:( I have a question about growing carnivorous plants outdoors Have you ever had problems involving strong winds knocking pots all over thr garden? How frequently? And do you have any advice to prevent such a thing from happening? Thank you!

Yes it happens, I usually ensure that the pots are tightly packed together in their trays and have their trays full of water to help weigh it down. However it sounds like your wind is more extreme than anything I’ve had

Try pure long-fibre chilean sphagnum moss, the high grade "orangy" one. You won't be disappointed!

What I have learnt with them is better to raise them up like they're on a hill. So the middle of the pot will be raised up with the plant in the moddle in the hill. So it gets less water near the top, and the gravity does the work when it rains.. for the stones on top, i would use more fine stones that are cleaned and flushed of any minerals or chemicals that may have been added. Best to always clean and flush and check on the rock you are using as the roots can get damaged as you know. The rocks have their own minerals that can seep very slowly and maybe fast into your soil, and it could set back your plant or even worse. It could eventually kill your plant from root burns from too many minerals in the soil

I killed my cephalotus recently, I think it was too damp and i didn't use sand in it's pot.

Yea if it’s too wet that happens, I only water them like 1-2 times a week when the pot is dry

hello, a very beautiful 4-year-old cephalotus died, it grew up beautifully and healthy, but it started dying about 2 months ago. I replanted it but I couldn't help it, only one small plant remained, I hope it will recover. I will put pictures on your Facebook messenger. P. S.
