That’s exactly what the competition is about - which flytrap in the greenhouse catches their prey the quickest. Their timer starts from the moment a bug touches their trap until the trap closes

While I love carnivorous plants like Venus flytrap and the pitcher plant, I probably wouldn’t keep interest in videos like these if they were completely silent. As far as I know, you are the only KZbinr doing videos like these with Carnivorous plants. Keep up the good work! You’re producing really entertaining one of a kind content 🙌🙌🙌

If a flytrap is slow, it may mean it doesn't need the catch ... or is poorly, which is not the case here ... they need to have produced a certain level of (something, sorry, forget what) to reach a critical point at the second trigger ... they won't produce that something if they don't need the nitrogen

Something with how they close fucks the fly's take off too. In slow mo you see it reacting way ahead of when it needs to but then crashes a couple times. Slowed him down just enough for the plant to trap him

They’re not subspecies, they’re cultivars. However check out the International carnivorous plant society website and navigate to cultivars section. They have a list of all registered cultivars. Not all cultivars are registered with them as it is a hassle to do so (apparently) :)
