China does have some incredibly beautiful places. I think I'll go to Guilin some day. A couple years ago, my wife and I went to WuYiShan. We took a slow (6 hour) train there from FuZhou where my inlaws live and had a lot of fun chatting with the other passengers. They grow quite a bit of tea there, called rock tea I believe (I bought some so I can show you if you like to know the Chinese name). It was a guided tour with a small group and they took us to so many interesting places. We climed one of the mountains (well, by stairs though, not the hard core thing you do hehe). And perhaps it has something to do with the time of year, because we went there in June and it was also incredibly foggy. So we could look down from a railing into what must have been some green valley, because you can see the ground close to you slope downward, but as the ground just disappears into the fog after a few meters, we couldn't see the bottom, which gave an almost fantasy-world-like feel to the whole experience. The raft ride was really cool and if you tip the guys steering the raft, they may sing some songs and maybe let you steer the raft as well. It turned out I had some talent for it hehe. On the raft ride, wear shoes that you don't care about getting wet or slippers. I got some very nice pictures and memories from that experience. And they have this incredible show on a rotating platform, with light effects, late in the evening about the history of the tea trade, with some kung fu stunts. If you go there, try to get a seat by the stairs, I think they serve tea at the end of the show to the people sitting by the stairs. We were not so adventurous when it comes to food though, so I can't say too much about that. But we did have a tea tasting workshop.

Yeah, Fujian Province is a good place. Wuyi Mountain is famous for Rock Tea "Da Hong Pao". Da Hong Pao can sell for up to US$1,025,000 per kilogram or US $35,436 per ounce (20g of Da Hong Pao tea from one of the mother plants was sold for ¥156,800 in 1998

Guilin also smells so good. The osmanthus tree fragrance will be with me forever. Take some bottles home as presents of perfume. And another interesting thing to visit is the post office with so many interesting Chinese stamps. The karsts are amazing and the river tour we took was in a larger boat and we ended drinking with people from 5-6 other countries. And the little boats attach and come to your window selling fruit. Unique experience.
