This is by far the best summary of what the FS series stands for, and what it means to this community! I love the goofy videos you usually post because they show more of a "playground" side to FS22 than Klutch, Austin, DJ, or King's videos do. But this, my man, is a love letter to the entire series itself. You're paying homage to everything that brought us to the limitless possibilities we can all find in Farm Sim. I have friends around the world because of this game, and I've chatted with people who live in my state because of this game. This may be your best video ever, Jake. Bravo 👏

IMO, there's one extremely important aspect of FS: it's _creative_ rather than destructive. Combat is the #1 motivation in video games, but some of the best selling ones are different. In Minecraft and Factorio, creation is the #1 motivation, and combat is only one of the means to that end. In SF, many foes feel less than Satisfactory (lol), because they're basically just trolling the users. SF would be a far better game if they added a creative mode, which both FAC (sort of) and MC have. Another game that fits the theme well is the entire Sim series: your ultimate goal is to build something. And I think that's one aspect the industry just doesn't get. "Let's make yet another 'Firstname Lastname's ' or 'SportsAssociation ', bonus points if you can fit 'American' in there" is all they seem to care about. "Triple-A" titles? Maybe, if the A's are "Antisocial Anarchists Anonymous."

I literally play this game everyday. I'm 32 and it's my stress relief at the end of the day and on my days off. Its a fantastic game and the continuous release of MOD's keeps you excited about what's next as well as new additions. Some of the MODs are honestly better than what the developers can come up with its underrated beyond belief and I'm glad it's becoming more mainstream.

The same here. 33 and this game is just relaxing and fun. Also this game learned me a lot about farming. With those mods like seasons (since 22 standard build in) and precision farming gave a real feeling how difficult and strategic you have to be to sow your field right. Also the weather can ruin your harvest or hay/grass yield.

This was definitely the best way to explain farm sim, I'm a full blown city boy who came across farming simulator on a whim, back in 2017 the psn had it on for 1.99 so I downloaded it not thinking I would actually enjoy it. Fast forward to 2022 I've turned into a farming nut, even moved out of the city to be closer to the pure serenity that is a farm. Keep making the fun and informative content Jake 💪

Little personal history: I work in the 3D market today because of this game I started playing in the 2009 version and got quite curious about the modding side of it, kinda played around with the map editor but nothing else. But them i touched the 2011 version and it was amazing, learned how to properly make a 3d model, got in touched with the brazilian mod community and did a bunch of friends in the way, because of this game i got in love with 3D moddeling and i loved every second of it.

The appealing aspect to me is starting a business from the bottom, and getting to a point where you are successful and paying employees like a true business owner. The best part about that climb, to me, is the ability to completely build a farm how you want. It's literally like a land development sim. Buying huge plots of empty land, mowing the grass, plowing new fields, build warehouses, storage sheds, garages, buildings, etc.

I remember my brother buying FS2011 and it came with 2 disks. One was the actual game, and the other contained all the tools you would need as a modder. They really pushed modding from the early and it is the thing that keeps the game interesting. like I would not have still played it if I couldn't download all the machines we have at the farm in real life.

I quit FPS and MMORPGs a couple of years back due to lack of a good internet and i'm so glad at it, nowdays i can see backwards and tell that i was not having fun at all, just repeating the same thing over and over again in a "competitive" (or a grind environement in the case of RPGs) with everything giving into your nerves and frying your brain, winning was not worth the tradeoff. Indie and rhythm games now are my passion and the only thing i regret about is to not figuring this out sooner, even though i don't have the same time to play anymore haha

Wow, I've never really thought about the topics you've discussed, all valid points. Think for me and most people, its the fact you can create a world where you can dream your future and or take the experience from your gameplay and live it. For myself I've stopped a few times and thought about going to school for ag. The Farming Simulator series for me allows me to live my many dreams, like fire fighting, or operating a heavy wrecker (of course those are mods) to maybe one day drive a fire truck to save a life or operate a wrecker and clear the road. Farming Simulator in my opinion shouldn't have the title Farming Simulator. Its should be Dream Your Life Simulator. Cause that's what it does. Great video and you cured my boredom...lol Keep it up, all of you!

I got fs 19 for free with epic in 2020 I had zero interest in farming but the game was free and a buddy of mine had a dedicated server. Ever since then I've been hooked I had zero expectations going in not knowing what to expect. What I got was honestly one of the best video games I've ever played in my life and I mean that. The game doesn't hold your hand there is no real narrative just a massive sandbox of endless possibilities. Nov 22nd is my birthday so ofcourse I got fs 22 and its everything 19 was but more streamlined. I don't even farm that's the beauty of this game I mostly do logging and city work. From construction to mining and with mods like terrafarm I can use the equipment to do things like landscaping and road building. I've got hundreds of hours in the games and haven't touched a field in months. I actually turned most my fields into forests and now I'm logging them. These games are extremely good and I never thought I'd ever play a farming game now it's been installed on my ssd since launch when the likes of cyberpunk and dying light 2 or read dead are not. Witch is kinda crazy because I thought it would very clearly would of been the other way around. If your on the fence get it you won't be disappointed. But for warning the game won't run as smooth as you'd like. Base game is fine but mods kill fps and while wheels are supported the ffb isn't good at all and is better turned off. Overall this game is way beyond expectations

I had the FS 17, skipped 19, and joined with 22 again. I am that kind of player, who plays the game, while watching a movie or series on second screen. I am very interested in how the machines work. All the moving parts. FS gives me an overview, and when i have found something very impressive, i search on YT, how that works in RL, and i am impressed, that so many machines do their jobs without any space tech. For example a baler. Its nearly completly mechanical. No fancy electronics. And sorry, i don't play multiplayer. I just want to have some fun with heavy machinery.

I was one of the people who got farming sim as a joke from a sale. Then I got completely hooked. Played FS17 for close to 200h, FS19 close to 1000h and FS22 so far is 132h and counting. I leave the AI worker on while doing chores and I can watch videos and browse on my second monitor while playing. Just perfect relaxation :)

To be honest, I have played FS17 and a bit FS19 on multiple platforms. As someone who hasn't done much multiplayer FS17, for me it is still my favorite, most nostalgic game to this day. The soundtrack is pure gold and I agree that mods greatly improve the experience. I think what makes farming simulator so relaxing and fun to play endlessly is: You can choose what to do, there isn't really a story or defined path to follow. Having an almost infinite amount of mods and normal vehicles and buildings to choose from. And being able to take your hands off the controller or keyboard and come back after an hour without losing what you spent your time on. If you don't feel like spending 3 hours harvesting a potato field, you can buy or borrow harvester(s) and let npc's do the job for you.

For a game with such a seemingly restrictive concept, it's amazing how many different directions you can take it in. If you want to take the game totally seriously, budget your spending and toil year round to turn a profit, you can. If you want to cheat in a ton of money, buy the biggest tractor in the game and make crop circles, you can do that, too. Plus, in a sea of games where your main objective is to kill as many people as possible, simulators in general are a breath of fresh air.

In my opinion, in recent years, they have given players tons and tons of freedom. The ability to hook up as many trailers as your device could handle, being able to do just about what ever you wanted is really what sets it apart from other games. The maps have little to no invisible walls other than the outside border. FS19 is my favorite. The UI is very easy to use, the graphics are really good, and the amount of mods made for all platforms. FS22 still has some tweaking needed. But it's the player freedom given by the devs. If FS was made by any other dev, we wouldn't be able to have maybe no more than 3 trailers hooked up at a time. And mods would only be on PC

I think the majority of the fun lies in how simplistic the concept of the gameplay loop is. Sure it’s about farming but there’s so much more random nuggets of fun sprinkled throughout you inadvertently find. My fondest farming simulator moment was when me and my brother were playing and bought chainsaws on a whim, then realized that every tree in the map was fair game, not just the ones on the farm. So needless to say we hopped in the started truck and would chop entire forests down just because it was kinda funny.

I poured absurd amounts of time into farming sim over the years, both on pc and mobile. I can effortlessly spend hours a day without even noticing while playing the game with over 150 mods. I already have... probably few hundred or thousand ours in it, without even thinking twice to do it again. I always enjoyed and will enjoy playing farming sim. A great game for people who want something relaxing, and where they can do whatever they please.

I lost my job March 2020 and had Farm sim 15 on steam, so I used my wheel from racing and got to it. Within a month I got 19, and now I have 1000+ hours on 22. I've abandoned every single game, including my childhood favorite Minecraft. I've attributed this to my family being farmers, but who knows. This game series has my soul.

When I first saw farming simulator it was for 15. I thought it was super dumb when I saw the commercial on TV. My brother wanted to get it cause he was like 10 years old and saw cool tractors. He tried to play it but never understood it. I tried it and fell in love because of the progression and sense of accomplishment and with 15 I loved doing forestry and getting tons of windmills.

This video just popped up in my recommended so I'm watching it almost a year after it was released. Everything you stated was absolutely true. I really only play simulation based games such as flight sim, truck sim and of course farm sim. The absolute variety which farm sim brings to the table is unique to the others. Yes, I can fly different types of aircraft in flight sim to add variety and somewhat the same with truck sim between ETS2 and ATS. But farm sim beats the other two genres in the variety dept. for all the reasons you mentioned. Unfortunately for all the awesome things you discussed about why farming simulator is as popular as it is, there is also a growing dark side to it as well. Like most things in the world around us, one can apply the 80/20 rule to farm sim as well. Meaning for the most part everything about the supporting communities are good. But unfortunately over the years (and it really seems to be much worse in the past few years) there seems to be a lot of hate being thrown around within both the creator and modding communities. As I'm sure most who play farm sim and enjoy mods are aware that we continue to lose talented modders, or force these talented modders to only create private mods. This hurts the entire community. People who have no skill for converting mods will take existing mods and do a half-hearted attempt at converting and then upload them to these vile sites just to make a few bucks. The content creating community isn't immune either to the growing darker side of things. Again, while certainly the smaller percentage applies....in the past there have been some of the larger channels creating an environment of hate towards smaller, newer content creators by encouraging their larger viewer communities to attack the smaller channels. Just like the TV set, if you don't like what is showing, turn the dial.
