I watch a few English meal programs and I must say that I like that you do not serve chips at every meal, you include a variety of fruit and vegetables, and you balance out the carbs. Your family is well fed, with interesting meals.

I would put a little of the fruit syrup in a tall glass and top up with tonic/soda and ice.

Lovely food recipe ideas Vicky. What a good tip about the hot dogs, I have used the rolls pre sliced and they split when you put sausage in so next time will use a french stick like you did, thank you. xx

You are so welcome! It’s so frustrating when they split!

The hotdog mini-baguette thing reminded of the best hotdogs I've ever had. Little service station in Brittany (clearly a favourite with the coach drivers). Just cut the baguette across the middle into two 'ends' - roughly cut out a bit of the inside, then smeared inside with some butter and mustard and popped a sausage in it. Almost like an ice-cream cone. But full of mustardy, buttery sausage :)

That sounds like a great idea 💡 I do love a French service station 🤩

I use lots of different fruit for crumble and that juice would go in the dish. It can be dry if not. Lovely meals Vicki. Thankyou. 🇬🇧🥰

Luckily it turned out well as the fruit released even more liquid when cooking, beginners luck 😂

Nice meals. That lasagne looks really nice something a bit different. I've made a few of your lasagnes , the butternut squash & spinach 1 was really good and a chicken 1. At the moment I'm having a lot of potato salad with things, I put chices, red onion, parsley & celery in mine, sometimes apple if I have 1 knocking around in the fruit bowl , & lots of black pepper & salt. Makes a nice meal as well. My husband dosebt like it as he don't like mayonnaise or salad cream so more for me !!!

Your bololooks delicious, I'm going to try your tip of having high heat for the mince. Good idea cutting out the rolls for the hotdogs... you could turn the cut out bit into garlic bread sticks? Or croutons

You could have made salmon patties out of that small amount of potatoes and bread crumbs you talked about with the bread you pulled out of the hoagie bread. Stretched your items for another meal…also, I agree with another viewer that you needed some of that liquid from your fruit mixture for your crumble. So just either make a syrup out of it for pancakes or waffles, Some jam (get a box of sure jell) will give you directions. You also could have used your shrimp and salmon to have made stuffed seafood baked potatoes…but since your son doesn’t like cream sauces…another way salmon is really good is to cook it with a glaze, then serve it over mixed greens with plenty of fresh caramelized root vegetables and candied nuts along with some Craisins all served with a maple flavored or balsamic vinaigrette. I had this in a restaurant and went home and recreated it. So good! I am going to try using some roasted butternut squash in it next. Just some ideas to help you think outside the box a little bit. 🙂
