How to increase Water Level in Front Load Washer

Here I will show you how to get more water in your Energy efficient Front Load Washer. A lot of the latest Front load washers went over the top with saving water...meaning too little water. Top loaders on the other hand are using way too much water and don't get your laundry clean. You should only do this adjustment here after your warranty expires to be safe, because it might void it.

And thus the clothes' fabrics remain soaked in washing powder residue and dirt residue because rinsing uses too less water for proper flushing of the remaining molecules. Hence the need for double or triple rinsing. That's some water saving... ;)

There is no adverse effect. I did this about 10 years ago to my Samsung and it still work great. Before the adjustment I would open the door and use a hose to add more water. Then many times, I would miss the rinse cycle so I had to do re-do the wash, just to get the clothes rinsed properly. Basically the second wash cycle became my main rinse cycle. All that because some government regulators decided that a washing machine should only use X gallons of water. I am sure that running the machine twice, used more water than having enough water in it to do it right the first time.

Exactly. I have this model and hate it. My clothes come out damp and sometimes they've come out completely dry. I have to sometimes do the same load 3x, how is that efficient? Not only a waste of water but time and electricity. Plus the cycles take forever. I only have till noon on my energy saver program with electric company, so I can only get in 2 loads before noon. I regret getting rid of my top loading Kenmore washer and dryer, they were 28 yrs old but they sill worked. I donated them to my son's friend who recently got married and needed a washer. While I've been manually adding water to my new washer, he tells me my old washer work fantastically.

Takes 2 men & a dog to take the top off my GE front load. It's a stacking set & the dryer is on top of the washer. That dryer just isn't a feather weight object, thus the dog to lift & move it. I think the inventor of front load machines, & especially HE/low water, never did a lick of laundry before inventing this disaster of a machine. I received it for free when one of our children worked for GE & won it as a bonus for a job done well but who din't need it personally. Have battle with getting clothes clean in it since 2006 when we got it. I think I've martyred myself enough. It's going to find a recycling location one of these days.

In addition to doing this, which actually does work. IF one has lower water presure as those in third world countries do. Who rely on gravity presure from tanks on their roof. There a little, generally blue in color restrtictor in one of the hose's that come from the generally black in color selinoids that supply water. Using a two to three inch long 1/8 in diameter screw inseted into the restrictor sufficently far enough to get a good bite on it. Then using a plyer's, pulling straight back, and it being very tight will take some doing. Pull it back and out. Replace the water tube. And the time it takes to fill to the level will be faster.

Years ago I did this to a high end Samsung. The machine was priced at somewhere around $1600 and could not wash anything properly. Two pairs of jeans would not even get completely wet. I adjusted the water level so that it comes up right to the opening for the door and now the machine works great. I don't blame Samsung for this. These same machines are sold in other places in the world where the government regulators don't have rocks for brains. Actually rocks would be an improvement. They have fecsl matter where the brains should be.

Frankman711: You mention that hot water is not necessary. This is frequently true. However, running a wash cycle with HOT water (especially the ones where the washer heats the water) about once a month will kill any residual mold & eliminate all odors. No special additives needed. The usage recommendations on most HE detergents are also quite conservative. Often, much less can be used; detergent levels should always be adjusted for load size and how dirt the clothes are. Reducing the amount of detergent will help prevent odors and mold. Finally, leaving the door cracked open after the last wash will help the drum dry out and prevent residual mildew formation.

Thank you for the video. It is very helpful. Nevertheless, perhaps you would consider to edit the video for it to focus on the important items that you want to highlight. Opening of top cover should be like 30 second rather than the whole 3 minutes without need to wait for the right screw driver to use or show the whole screwing process. The testing of water level should be like 30 sec as well. And the drainage... you shouldn't have to include the whole spinning. Also, there is too many silent moment in the video. Suggestion for you to focus on the location of the adjustment screw and how it is connected to the water inlet. Thank you again for the video. It give me some ideas 💡

There's a countable amount of water that's needed to dissolve a given amount of washing powder and an estimated amount of dirt. Using not enough water only leaves a residue of washing powder and dirt inside the fabrics and thus creates a need for a second washing (which wastes electrical energy). The same with rinsing - there has to be enough water to properly flush the said residues out of the fabrics (transport the molecules of the said residues). Insufficient water amount only makes it necessary to rinse twice or triple. Again: waste of electrical energy. The stupidly low water level in washing machines is an unscientific scam.

@@TheFrankman711 I’ve looked everywhere, I’ve looked for items that don’t look like examples. I have noticed at water intake, hot and cold, 2 (looks like Phillips head), BUT in the center is a small spike, preventing adjustment. Also another inline part, has a head but not straight or Phillips head. Can’t see what would work.

Would anyone know how to increase the water level on a Miele W5873. I've looked for the screw and cannot seem to find it anywhere.

I didn't think german washer machines would need the water fix as well

@@TheFrankman711 It does, it takes in very little water except on one program setting. Was able to make the adjustment on an LG front loader though just cannot see anything similar on this machine, though I'm sure it's there.

I understand why you did that, but, your going to cause water to go places it should not be. You will have leaks and machine damage. Good luck.

My front loader (2004 Whirlpool Duet 3.8 cu.ft HT front load washer) fills up to the door. I have never had a leaking issue out of the almost 17 years of having it.
