In this soft spoken ASMR sleep story, we explore the significance attached to various colours along history, how pigments and dyes were obtained, and how the status of colours changed over time in society, consumer goods or art. I focus on three colours in particular: blue, green and red.

French Whisperer is so pleasant and tactful. Aside from the amazing content he provides, it's his microphone set up. So many other ASMR content creators don't take in to account the "wetness" of their mouth. I have a small case of misophonia, so unnecessary, unconscious noises people make will drive me INSANE. Mr. Whisper is so clean, without odd guttural noises, lip smacking between words, or any of that.
@TheFrenchWhispererASMR

Glad you say that, because I spend an insane amount of time manually cleaning up audio tracks from that kind of sounds (they don't happen or go unnoticed when you speak normally, but when you speak softly they are unavoidable - and I also dislike when there are too many of them in ASMR videos).

I used to have a few relaxation and meditation cassettes, back in the dark ages. Some players were noisy when (automagically) changing sides and I am a light sleeper. Really annoying, as are sudden loud noises or suddenly talking louder on ASMR vids. People need to control their voices/audio. But no worries about that here!

They did exist on CDs in the 80s and 90s, they were just rare and you had to depend on whatever your record store stocked. Reel-to-reel tape goes back to the 1950s, and home recorders had several speeds, so a 1-hour tape could go three times as long at a slow speed. The tradeoff was sound quality. Prerecorded tapes were done at the fast speed of course, or at least the second-fastest speed. Incidentally, the size and speed of a phonograph record was designed to fit Beethoven's 9th Symphony. And tapes and CDs kept that album length more or less, just lengthening it by 10-15 minutes.

I saw an amazing documentary (part art history, part anthropology) on the history of the hue blue. Blue was cherished and revered for its rarity in painting. The materials to mix and make blue were incredibly rare and expensive. The amount of influence one color can have on a species is WILD. Blue, like the flame has a sort of visceral part in the human imagination.

Thanks! Music in videos is very polarizing and many people dislike it, which is why I generally don't add music to the entire video. And there is also the issue of copyrights: if I use copyrighted music, the monetization benefits the rights owners and they can do whatever they want with the video, including adding loud video ads every 5 minutes (it happened to me on an old video about Bach). I'll have another look at the KZbin library of free music though, and see if I can find something for my next art video, which should be about Impressionism.

That's really interesting. I've carrying out a study which, amounts other things, includes "your favourite colour". Blue was was one of the multiple choice options. Although many candidates would have chosen another colour, limited top those presented in the multiple choice option, they almost (to a 90% option) chose Blue. I suspect that the fact that I live in Spain, a country known for it's blue skies and a people who enjoy the outdoors socialization that that brings, is not irrelevant.

I love your material. The one critique would be the ambient parts you've put into a few videos. I usually fall asleep well before the end of the talking section so the extra hour of sound is excessive particularly since it's voice not sound that works best for me. It's just excess data usage. That said you are my favorite asmr artist. I actually get to learn something instead of just answer questions while i get my hair cut 😉

Thanks. I know not everyone likes these ambient sounds but they are quite popular overall and I get more requests to add more than complaints. What you can do if you are on the YT app is set a timer to end the video when the story is finished (it is always indicated in the timestamps in the pinned comment). Alternatively, the downloadable audio tracks I put on Patreon are just the voice without sound effects.
