Went to a yard sale, did a bit of shopping with my son. I would like to buy your tote bags over comer and do what you think you can't do. Is there any way to get them at the bundle price of $22, or is that only for 2 of the do what you think you can't do totes?

I have had kind of a rough day. I don’t have CF but I have been very nauseous today. I am prescribed to take Zofran 3 times a day for my nausea but one of my doctors thinks I have a gallbladder problem that is causing constant heartburn and nausea and usually after I take my Zofran I am not nauseous anymore but today I still am. So that isn’t great but I am taking it easy. Not this week but next week I am going to the hospital for three days to get tests done to hopefully correctly diagnose my GI problem this time. So hopefully I get that worked out. Happy Saturday Peter and Mary.

You can call TSA CARES in advance of any flights. Someone will meet you at security and walk through/explain to the TSA agents. I have had to fly with IV fluids/pump, Dexcom, insulin pump....TSA CARES was very helpful.

Hello Freys! Just a tip if you guys didnt know, you can often pick what they call bulkhead seating for about $25 extra, it's the seats that face a wall instead of having a seat in front of them. They tend to have extra leg room and Ollie would have more space to stretch out. God bless

Hey Peter and Mary! I’ve been watching your videos for a couple of years now. The first one I saw was your Dollar Tree Hacks if you got locked in one overnight. I laughed so hard I cried! Every night since then, I watch your videos right before I go to bed. I feel like my day is just not complete until I watch your video. Anyway Mary, I love your black and white striped tote that you carry on the plane! I wish you would make one like that with the giraffe on it! I just ordered one of your Laugh Every Day hoodies even though here in Texas, the temps have been in the 80s. Go figure! I would have ordered a t-shirt but you don’t have any with 3/4 sleeve lengths. I don’t like to show my flappy arms in public! So I opted for the hoodie! Anyway, I love you three! Thanks for brightening my days...umm evenings!

I’ve seen a broad spectrum at TSA screenings with my ileostomy. Some people are very knowledgeable and understanding, while some just have never heard of my device. When they say “what’s that???”. Sometimes I just want to retort “it’s my poop!!!” :) Talk about awkwardness with the liquid rules

Oh no!! I have type one diabetes, so airport security is super hard for me too. I also tested positive for explosives once, but the security agent was super nice about it. I was like "WHAT?!?!?! WHAT COULD THAT BE?!?!" she said other chemicals can set the machine off and walked me through what was going to happen next before she proceeded. So, just a couple of tips: If you're traveling inside the US you can call the "TSA cares" support line and give them a heads up that you're coming through with a bunch of weird medical stuff and/or might need assistance. I always ask for a "passenger support specialist" or a manager, because these people have specific training on how to handle passengers with disabilities. Every airport is different and my experiences are always hit or miss unfortunately, but I do find security tends to be a little kinder/smoother when I call ahead and know who to ask for. At the very least, it helps put me at ease. Also, I have a Dexcom G4, and I was under the impression from the manual that it couldn't go through body scans or medal detectors because the scanners could cause damage to the medical device and impede it's ability to give you correct readings. You can call Dexcom customer support for clarification, but just a heads up for you here! Unfortunately that DOES mean you have to "opt out", which means you're opting for a pat down, but I'd rather that than possibly damaging my Dexcom. Maybe I misunderstood something, but I figured I'd tell you just in case!

I'm a security agent based in Italy, but I work on American flights, so we have to respect both Italian and American security procedures from TSA. Airlines really look out for customer service, but we also have to do our jobs, and sometimes one thing doesn't go with the other. From experience, we see hundreds of passengers every day, with like a million stories and different needs, and it's impossible to be able to know all of them, especially since they usually teach us only the security procedures. Sometimes we don't even know how to help with stuff like tax refund or give precise indications. I've been doing this job for a very little time, and in this time I've had a looooot of first times, with passenger conditions, passports, visas, alarms and general airport knowledge, and I can also tell you that sometimes it is not easy to have to deal with like two hundred passengers who are irritated or angry at us because their flight is late, when probably that is not even our fault. But it's obvious that not everyone can know everything about who works at the airport and who does what, and it's undestandable that people get upset if someone does something wrong or seems rude, the only thing that I would point out is that sometimes it is just a matter of misunderstanding, or very simply a very bad day (on one or both sides of the airport population) I hope I said things without sounding rude, because that's not what I wanted, and thank you if you will ever read this

I have the same issue at airports and any security area with being patted down. Because I'm completely wheelchair bound I have to be patted down every time, but my conditions mean that I dislocate or break bones easily and I always worry something's going to get damaged along the way. I hope your crash isn't too major and you manage to get some good rest over the next few days. Time to catch up on NASA videos!!

Get a TSA passenger support specialist. This is what they are for! I have implanted medical devices and am disabled and they make air travel work! They will review everything prior to your travel and advise, then will make someone available during your travel to come go through the process with you and "handle" the other TSA staff that has lesser medical knowledge. Other then wider access, the wheelchair line of TSA has the body scanners available...I must use those I absolutely cannot walk through a metal detector which could trigger either of my implanted devices. I have medical cards but they rarely even give them a glance...but whenever I use the passenger support specialists I get through much more efficiently.

Mary, I agree..even though they all have to be at the top of their game, concerned about explosives and such, they should always remember to treat everyone with the upmost kindness. It's a fine line with many workers I'm sure, but one can be very respectful and do their job at the same time. Also, much training over a variety of circumstances is needed with airport workers. Welcome Home xo

Mary Reynolds, I agree....we all need to treat everyone with respect. I do think that it is hard to know and be trained regarding everything that we will come across, no matter what field we work in. Sometimes if we treat people with kindness, it will make an impression on those around us, who need it most!

at least in NJ, most airports out of which I fly the TSA agents take courses and learn about various medical devices. they learn what they are and what they can look like (i know diabetic dexcoms can be in the arm, leg, stomach most commonly, and they do vary in size and shape). it's necessary, both for rendering first aid and for potential bomb threats. being able to identify devices like a port, insulin pump, or dexcom should be standard!
@kimbo500
@kimbo500 6 жыл бұрын
TeenDream888, Oh I see. I was not aware that the TSA had such in depth courses. That is an awful lot of learning to do, with the vast array of medical devices out there in the world! That would be a difficult job keeping up with the latest of all of them. Even more reason for us to use that opportunity to NICELY explain to them what something is. I'm not excusing any rudeness on their part, I don't like to play that 'tit for tat' thing. I'd rather show some kindness, and it's amazing how often that might change someone's attitude. Of course....no guarantees!! :). Happy travels everyone!!
@TeenDream888
@TeenDream888 6 жыл бұрын
I'm always leery about training which can vary by airline and airport, although the devices should be something everyone is aware of. I hope everyone who's diabetic like me, or needs other devices, also carries their TSA Notification card and doctor's note. i also call ahead at the airport and make them write down my name and flight info so when i do arrive, the screening and boarding process is much smoother!
@kimbo500
@kimbo500 6 жыл бұрын
TeenDream888, Good point! Most of us have some sort of documentation from our medical teams, and if we do not...it's easily obtainable. It is a good reminder to everyone...Thanks! I so agree, that if you call in advance to help alleviate some potential travel issues....it is SO helpful. Talk about decreasing the stress that can be involved with travel. A brief phone call, can not only save you time, but SO much emotional AND physical stress. Let's face it, stress has a huge negative impact on all of us. I'm all for minimizing it as much as possible! :)

The security gate situation is probably that they move security people around to the different stations, also not all people that needs a wheelchair or stroller have a lot or any of medical supplies they have to travel with. Also about the liquid medicine, the airport wouldn't want someone to have an explosive liquid and claim it to be medicines. I looked it up, the only way to not get a screening for explosives in your medicine, is to travel with only 3.5 fl. Oz. Containers and each person flying is only allowed one quart of fluids in total, which isn't much when have to use feeding tubes to survive for multiple days.

I went through security twice this week and it was obnoxious as normal. I chose to fly unhooked to Madison, WI to help avoid the pat down. Nope. I've lived through it since 2012. They never quite understand things. However the only place that caused me issues (and made me cry) was in Atlanta on the way back from Zurich, Switzerland. Despite doing the accessible line (which is supposed to better trained depsite how it actually works out. They yelled at me for going through with a backpack and not unhooking. I had enough at that point. Blah. Thankfully my service dog (epilepsy and mobility) and I can go with the flow and do not have issues. I had issues with an Uber driver this morning about my service dog. though.

Airports are the worst for chronically ill/disabled people. Even when i was a little kid, airport security was unkind to me. They constantly tried to tell us we couldn’t take my wheelchair on the plane (when we knew we could, and had proof that we could) and would often separate me from my parents to pat me down. It sucks :/

I scroll down the the comments and see only 2 comments. I'm like, what the French toast.. then I scroll back up and see just a few views, no likes or dislikes. I was sooo confused. Then I realized, I'm pretty early 😂

Maybe next time when you fly just have your feeding tube totally disconnected. Just your button and fly with all the other stuff. Then you could even hook up once you are through security. No pat down that way.

Peter I like how your hair looked when you got home. For some reason it made you look younger! I am a hairdresser so I tend to look at peoples hair, so forgive me for noticing. As always Mary I wish you a better day today than you had yesterday! God bless you both!

Get some R & R when you get home. I am the same way after long trips. Your lungs will appreciate you later if you rest :)

Dear Family Frey, Having seen you out travelingmakes me happpy and I hope that the crash wont bee to severe. Being someone that has lung issues (not CF) my hart cryes when you Mary have your choughing fits because I know how hard it is, how draing it is and how much it hurts. Even before my lungs stoped to do what they are suposed to I have some problems after a car accident. There came a time when I had decide between keeping my independence and how hard the traveling crash was going to be. I decided that I had to swallow my pride and start to use the disbility friendly help at all airports. Usually that meens that I ask for wheeelchair assistance. Sometimes there will be a person driving me (chair or buggy). Take me through security bording and to the plane. When I arrive the same servce but fliped. My husband usually comes with meand get the same priority service. I taste bitter every time but I have to admit that I dont arrive completlt ded on my feet. Maybe somthing to consider for yournext tripp. Yiou three live your life as you can and I will se your antics in your vlog My Best regards, Ann

I agree. It’s a respect thing. When I traveled during my cancer treatment I asked a tsa agent if I could leave my hat on which they said was fine only to be screamed at by another tsa agent. It was embarrassing to be yelled at in that way. If they had told me nicely I would have taken it off but it’s a sensitivity thing.

I think it would be nice if the security screeners did have a little training about medical equipment/devices! You'd think they might just so they can tell if someone tries to sneak through with something suspicious!

That might be a good suggestion to make to the airport; education for the workers in the lines for medical issues.

I could so use some of your strength right now. I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks (also Aspergers) and I am going on a plane for the first time in 10 years, I think, from Sweden to San Francisco, tomorrow morning, and I am freaking out a bit right now, its time for bed soon. I get claustrophobic and I am tall so I don't fit in the seats very well, and that is a long flight!!! And I cant get off! I hate that. I am a non believer so I obviously don't pray. (everyone do as they see fit, I believe) I am going to train my labradoodle Millicent to be my service dog once she is old enough, she is just a puppy right now so she is staying with my mom and dad, I would have loved to have her with, even though she isn't trained, she still calms me down. Sorry for ranting, made me feel a bit better though.
