I see the word watercolor on the video and instantly decide to watch it.. I recently figured out a way to use my watercolors that makes sense to me. thanks for always sharing your knowledge and skills [i'm probably going to get hooked on markers soon], I feel like I've taken such a huge leap forward with my art-related skills and it wouldn't have happened without your videos so yeah, huge thanks :)

Great and helpful video as always Lindsey just wanted to let u know most dual tipped markers do best if stored horizontally as the ink reservoir is shared by both nibs.....gravity still applies.

Thanks for that tip of reactivating a marker with denatured alcohol! Sometimes a cap doesn’t close properly and they dry out. I got that skin tone set a month ago and it’s all right for the price. A couple of the markers have a very soft (squishy) brush tip compared to the others. I wonder if I could replace those tips. I’m going to check out those watercolor markers. They seem similar to the Zigs and those are great. I could use more color variety.

Thanks so much for this. I've wavered for months about alcohol markers....I really can't justify the cost of copics right now and I keep reading reviews of various other sets and hesitating. These look pretty good. I have some really decent watercolor ones(both types) and the only problem I have is when I have a larger area to color. Anyway. This was very informative and helpful, thank you! LOVE that butterfly stamp, btw. And the reverse looks really cool :)

Hi Lindsay. I love the water based colors. I have some alcohol ink markers that I used to color paper for paper beads and the ink soaked into the paper and was duller than I wanted. What paper, if there is one, will keep the true color of alcohol ink? Hope that makes sense. Thank you!
@thefrugalcrafter5 жыл бұрын
Marker paper, it is really thin so I don't like it for cardmaking but it has a coating that keeps the ink on top and vibrant. Rendr also keeps markers bright but it doesn't blend well.

Very similar to arteza, if you have one you dont need the othet:)

I have the TOUCHNEW ! I have the skin tone and the grey tone! The grey ones help you get use to warm and cool colours. I know this is sad but when I select a grey I try and guess whether it is a warm or cool grey! This seems very elementary but sometimes the colours can throw you!

@@thefrugalcrafter That shouldn't deter anyone from buying the product! When I first started out i hated the term Swatch your colours! BUT this is the best method to get to know what your mediums can and can't do! And now....highly recommended! Swatch your stash! Very rewarding! AND experiment!

I think the higher concentration of alcohol like 90% from the drugstore will be fine, the 50-70% contain water too and it won't be as effective.

Have you ever printed an outline picture and used markers like this to color them in? Can I just print on a water color paper or do I need special ink so these markers won't make the printer black bleed?
@thefrugalcrafter5 жыл бұрын
You can print on paper and color with alcohol pens with no bleeding but watercolor markers will smear the ink of an inkjet print but a laser printer will work if it can handle the paper.
@boopeep96705 жыл бұрын
Making a simple window card then covering the bare cut edges on the inside of the card with a paper frame would be a great way to feature both sides of the alcohol marker image. Then you don’t have to choose just one side 😃🦋🌼 I’m shocked the watercolor is more vivid than the alcohol version.

A long time ago, 45 years ago, when I was a teen I used watercolor markers because alcohol inks were not as common. One problem I always had was if you got a darker shade of blue on your lighter blue then it was hard to get off. I started using a dried up marker as a "dirty" marker for blending. I two or three for darker colors such as blues and greens. I thought I was very resourceful at the time. I loved watching this it gave me so many ideas. I get bogged down with wanting to buy new products I don't enjoy and use what I already know. Thank you for all of your videos and ideas as usual a good one.

The touch new seem to be similar to my touch five markers... are they like a 'fake' touch five marker?
@thefrugalcrafter5 жыл бұрын
I don't know, I think most of them are named after Shinhan's touchtwin marker that because a really popular low cost copic dupe or it might be that the word "touch" is a common descriptor for markers in the east kinda like we use the work "magic" marker here in the west.

@@thefrugalcrafter lol you may be right maybe I am used to hearing touch by the touch twin markers! Well anyways all of these markers blend beautifully and those colors were fabulous so it sold me!!! Like I need more stuff! I could use markers though it's tough to blend without a ton of colors!!!

Is there any way to make the Alcohol Marker colors as vivid as the Watercolor colors. Is it the paper used, or the brands?
@thefrugalcrafter4 жыл бұрын
With alcohol markers its harder to blend the vibrant shades so you want to go a bit lighter if you want to blend.

Are alcohol markers harder on the paper? They appear to have more of a “drag” on the paper. Curious .
@thefrugalcrafter5 жыл бұрын
oddly enough they are not because te waterin the watercolor marker actually can warp and pill the paper especailly if you use a felt tip watercolor marker.

I'm confused about what the difference is between Artx and Touch New, if they are the same brand. Is there a quality difference, or is it just the form of the barrel?

I didn't notice a smell so less strong than a sharpie I'd say...Let me go sniff them and report back... OK, they are not bad, at 2" away from my nose there was no smell but if I almost touched my nose with the tip there was a faint alcohol smell.

I think you had 17 alcohol markers and 11 or 12 water based. That might make a difference. Though the caps came off easier from the water based markers.
