I just received acceptance letters from both Pratt and SVA's design MFA programs and I would like to say thank you to The Futur team! As an illustration major, just a few months ago, I had no idea how to approach graphic design but I learned a lot from your logotherapy series and your live typography/poster reviews. I feel like all I know about GD is from you guys and I can't wait to delve deeper during my master's program. I'll be sure to support your channel as soon as my next paycheck comes in. Just know that you made a difference in this gal's life!

@thefutur (American Airlines) I’m honestly surprised he did not use a star as part of the “A” or research the “Flying Ace Medal” also known as the feeling cross or flying circus medals. Plus I thought American Airlines already had American Advantage? I may be wrong. This may be because I come from a flying family. (Jet2) that Jet2X idea Chris suggested was really great. Personally I would use the plane as the”X” It would tie back into the original logo and make it scaleable and interesting.
@cfowlerdesign5 жыл бұрын
Jet2X might have worked in the US but, in the UK we don't say 2X we say 2 TIMES instead so the brand name would have ended up being Jet 2 Times. Which doesn't exactly roll off the tongue and it kind of sounds like two timing which is also bad 😂
@LittleMissDesmo5 жыл бұрын
@@cfowlerdesign interesting culture perspective. That is true US and UK don't speak the same english slang. ... if you can even call it that. Its english yet not. lol

How do you account for varying cultural perceptions, especially with naming? The "vista" and "star" suggestions made sense to my Western ears. However, would those concepts stand-up against the "Signature" concept with South Asian audiences? Perhaps that audience associates more pomp and glamor to "Signature" versus "star" or "vista". "Vista" makes me think of "views" or "the sky" when I hear it, but that's because many Americans know vista's root meaning across Romance languages. How many South Asian audiences would make the same association at first glance? While not brand intended for a purely premium occasion, Emirates' Skywards mileage program came to mind. At first glance, the name is quite generic and doesn't espouse anything unique about the airline or the UAE itself (I get it confused with Delta's SkyMiles a lot in conversation). But Emirates markets itself to so many audiences with their own unique cultural perceptions. In that case, "Skywards" genericism is probably a great, neutral name for their multi-cultural audience.

I'm not sure. more research would have to be done for a truly global brand.

What’s good FUTUR Fam 🧡 Totally root 4 Each and Every creative shown for the great work them made. Personally living and socialising in a german centristic Slice of Creative Life’s, i top urgently feel, that one highly valueable thinking process weren’t mentioned in prototyping. Referring to the very special and most revealing case, of SWISS Air. It’s, that Swiss values, like, order, are, like Chris said, of the same tissue, as strictness. Said that, the experience you gain, by socialising deeply connecting w/ Swiss folks, you see, that, using, ever one another anglocentric word, in, even a Sub Swiss brand, will shift, the center of communication, away, from a swiss/german centric median. Conclusive processing could be, finding rather a proto/indo-european naming which inter-resonates W/ spheres and societies, like perhaps :: 1. Altus - SWISS ALTUS 2. Summit - SWISS SUMMIT 3. Peak - SWISS PEAK Considered, this is shot right off the holster ;) Colossal Kudos 2 the FUTUR Fam...moving a movement
