The majority of workers in the kitchen are men, it's honestly really difficult for a women to advance in the industry unless she has many leadership qualities, those women are highly valued. Restaurant industry is cut-throat, no one gives you their respect and if you want any respect you have to speak up or you can happily be paid minimum wage and make good food.
