I know that some people will enjoy the original charm of the classic art work, but I can't believe they did not do a moderate reskin with somewhat fresh artwork. It is like the difference between San Juan by Rio Grande, which was the classic, and San Juan by Ravensburger, which was the reprint. It still feels the same, and it still looks the same, but little changes in artwork really improved it. I think a game which is this old could have benefited from some slight artwork improvements, similar to what Carcassonne did and San Juan did.

The blue-uniformed riders in the clip at the beginning, right after Dan says "15th century Spain", are the Swedish royal guards. Not really 15th century Spain, but even though the uniforms are just 100 years old the royal guards actually date back to 1523. So the right continent and almost the right century. Close enough.

I own and enjoy Tammany Hall, but it has one of the worst runaway leader problems of any game I've played, to the point where I've house ruled player order based on points scored to try and reign it back just a little bit. This is a common complaint of the game, though I've never heard anyone claim El Grande has a similar issue. Also, I'm really happy they kept Doris Mathaus' art. I think it's tragic that they've replaced her art in other classics like Carcassonne and Elfenland.

When everyone police's the leader we've never had this problem and the leader changes through the rounds

They should have made the Grandes as small houses in stead of big meeples. Would be less confusing I think.

Totally agree, they should have re-skinned this. I love the game but the cards are hideous

+TheGameBoyGeek - Hi Quality Hi Energy Board Game Reviews Agreed. I think we are probably on the same page here. My take on it is, If you want it the same, just make a reprint and call it such. I guess as a big box it does kind of imply the original. If it was a "20th anniversary Special Edition", a reskin would be more required. Keep up the great videos, Ian
