The Day Before is a good a example of why I don't trust in so called "indie studios" making a game that's coming off looking like to be a big Impressive title. But doesn't have any big publisher backing it up. That's a red flag. 🚩

The devs are in Russia (yes, seriously). While Fntastic is registered in Singapore, they are really in Russia. It's currently IMPOSSIBLE to launch a lawsuit against anyone in Russia if you are in the U.S (Russia isn't willing to cooperate with the U.S and most other countries due to what's happening in Ukraine and the sanctions). And you can't go after them through Singapore either (Singapore gave the devs money years ago and the devs have that money in Russia with them. Singapore can revoke their registration, but that means nothing since the devs are in Russia).

The map of the game is literally an asset flip from the Unreal Engine Marketplace. Even you could go and buy it for 300$, they only made minor changes. The menus, the third person survival kit, it's the same as the marketplace

I heard someone found out that most if not all the assets in the game are not even there. The developers bought around $5,000 of assets on the store from looting mechanics, characters animation, even city building packs. some of these asset packs did not exist prior to oct 2022 which implies a much shorter development period.

It's not very good either (the multiple "Trials" you have to complete during the mid part of the game is freaking HORRENDOUS and one of the worse gaming experiences ever since you have to follow a terrible checklist and HOPE what you are looking for is randomly generated) but Anthem did have some good stuff in it (more so AFTER the horrible, craptacular "Trials" crap. The missions AFTER the crap trials had some good stuff in it). It's just that Anthem needed A LOT more to it (something the Anthem Next 2.0 update was suppose to do, but then EA decided to be EA and screwed that over). But Anthem is still playable today and it has it's good moments (even if there are some terrible moments mixed in as well). This is A LOT more than I can say about The Day Before (I don't think anyone can defend The Day Before in any way).

Somebody looked into the game's assets and found that a HUGE number of the assets, models, and even game code are from an asset storefront, many of which weren't even created or uploaded until THIS YEAR. Although the game wasn’t terrible especially for a early access, it just proved not everyone knows what the hell they’re doing. The lied and scammed about having a studio and devs, I truly believe they didn’t really have a studio at all. It was probably just a group of people that thought they could make something, gain traction from streamers and blow up into something. Sadly that wasn’t the case & I knew it when somehow every single server was FULL 10 minutes into the game being launched. How do you have supposedly 200+ servers from America, Asia, etc and it’s that hard to to even launch the game. I swear it took over 1 hour just to launch the damn sever then when I finally got in…. It lagged like hell even on the opening cutscene… I get past that, get my loot to explore this world they hyped and talked about…..and my game crashes. It was a great thought and concept & had a real legit indie studio worked on this game it would’ve been decent buuuuut. We got scammed.
