That comment about "vast nothingness" is probably going to come true. So many games these days that are open world that don't need to be. So many games that are live service that don't need to be. I'll reserve judgement until the game drops but your assessment is pretty accurate to what is going to be the most likely outcome for this game like with that Avengers game, Gotham Knights and Guardians of the galaxy. All in the same WhatsApp group. Games with potential but will likely be poorly executed.

@@Eagles083 I think they fall in the same bucket. Coz they aren't inherently bad games, just games with unfulfilled potential. That's why I always laugh that they age well coz usually given some time they get patched and fixed and have things added that should have been there at launch etc but they ultimately end up being meh to the potential that could be realized with that kind of IP. Coz let's keep it a stack minus the names attached to that IP people would probably be more brutal if we replaced those names with generic new titles that weren't attached to all that superhero IP.

Especially some of these games that just come out of nowhere and end up blowing all expectations out the water on an undersell overdeliver vibe. I just wish they would stop pivoting to live service so often coz not everything needs to be live service and end up having the studios shoot themselves in the foot when certain targets aren't meant when especially they end up struggling to add value to the game outside of random battle passes, skins snd loot mechanics and it's the devs who always end up getting axed first.

One thing I will say abt this game, the city itself looks really good imo. The buildings actually look like places of business, coffee shops, office buildings etc. If u go look at Arkham knight and city, the buildings don’t seem to have the same level of purpose( outside of places like Wayne tower obviously)

I think I understand what you mean about something looking cheap or not right. There's not as much weight to the characters and their animations, when moving, vs in the Arkham games. It's all a bit too "bouncy" and they go from 0 to 100 without much acceleration and momentum in-between. The 3rd-person camera may also be set a bit too far behind the character models. I don't think that the graphics and art-style are the issue, those look fine to me.

David Zaslav just came out and said WB will be doubling down on live service. The reality is that WB has no money and have been canceling movies left and right for tax right offs(batgirl and now an animated peace maker movie). WB’s gaming future doesn’t look great but I’ll reserve full judgment. One thing is for sure, Zaslav WILL make a Superman game, unfortunately it’ll probably have live service elements.

I mean Arkham Knight was kinda empty cause they evacuated all the people from Gotham. IDK been awhile since I played it. This game actually looks okay. The combat looks fine. Needs more substance besides shooting. It at least looks better than avengers. They got some good voice actors. I feel it should be something on Game Pass so its gonna be hard deciding to spending a full 70 on it or not. The battle pass stuff is ridiculous tho. It looks like it could be a 6 or 7 out of 10 at most. It's ashame it has come to this. I much rather have another Batman game. Just don't go in expecting too much or wait for the inevitable price cut. Unfortunately that is modern gaming now. It's sad but it is what it is. I hope I'm wrong and it blows me away.

If I could compare another group to the suicide squad, some white, it would be guardians of the Galaxy now the guardians of the Galaxy game that came out in 2021 or 2022 was a sleeper hit. suicide squad could be that, but from what I saw it won’t be Rock that he just fell off. It’s not really about the suicide squad. It’s more about the developers. Some of these studios that triumph for years are falling off. The main studio I’m concerned about right now is rockstar.

Yeah I still have 0 interest in this game. Just doesn't look all that fun. Plus the fact that it's a live service game doesn't help either. And the vast nothingness is why not every game NEEDS to be open world. A smaller, more tight nit yet still relatively explorable world would fit this game much better.
