Enjoy a catalogue of some of the most staple mods that are deemed 'essential'. This is of course subjective from person to person, but many of these are familiar enough that you'll most likely come across in most modpacks. Let me know your thoughts on this video! Did you like it, what did you want to see improved and would you like to see other videos like this! 🙂 Disclaimer: The results in the performance mods will vary from machine to machine and depends on other factors (memory, specs, version, how many mods, etc.)

In case you care, at 08:53 your book flyout for Lithium is showing Phosphor info instead. This is a great overview of the backbone modpack mods and I really appreciate the extra notes on which versions a particular mod is useful on due to native Mojang fixes, etc. Thanks for sharing!

For the "Enough Items" mods, do you know if there's a mod or some config option that allows repeated recipes/items like doors, for example, to be "folded" into a single entry on the "Enough Items" menus? I could swear that I've seen that modification on some older YT modpack playthroughs but I can never seem to find the way to actually fold the recipes in any of the mods. Much appreciated if you could either find that option or mod.

@DontBother_YT There should be some config option in the main Enough Items mods to be able to change it. Never really done it myself, but if there's anything to 'fold' repeated recipes/items, it would be in their configs. Possibly in REI or EMI, though I'm not sure what it would be labelled as.

Waystones is simple but very useful if you like exploration-oriented mods, but don't have the time or patience to return to your base to drop off your loot. I don't always use it, but it is vital to me personally when I go heavy on exploration mods and it really keeps the excitement from devolving into tedium. Though I wasn't able to get it to work on my desired setup Wormhole (Portals) is a good concept for portals you can link distant areas of your world without having to traverse the Nether every single time you want to go to a specific far away place you frequent while maintaining some balance if you want transportation to still be somewhat expensive.

I highly recommend not using optifine, or any variant of it. It changes the game in ways no mod ever should, such as deleting functions that java relies on and replacing them with inaccurate ones. It has been known to cause all sorts of unpredictable issues both on its own and with other mods, and the performance improvements are hardware dependent at best, on some devices they don't improve anything at all. Another thing it does is sometimes decrease your render distance by 2, but then say it isn't changed, leading to a fake performance improvement just by doing less work.

@@CrittersModMenagerie Those performance mods are amazing. I obviously knew a few but had no idea there were plenty more which actually boost performance or reduce lags(I am using Bliss/Complementary shaders, mods really helped out to give that little boost and give lower load to CPU). Other sections are really good. Whoever grabbed MC for this sale and likes to mod should refer to this video.

I really liked this video! Usually I don't peak much into the Best Mods video genre, but gave it a shot, and I must say this is one of the best channels that does it! You mentioned mods that many others don't (EMI for example) and included mods that I thought where long gone, or I haven't heard of (atlas, and map atlases). I liked that you didn't give your opinion much, just a brief overview of the mod in question, unlike other videos in the same genre of this one. 10/10 will recommend :D

I would add that theres a mod called Essential Mod, that adds a social messager to talk, share screenshots, customize your player model, and even freely play a single player world online with friends, again, for free! Being able to move chests and barrels with all its contents intact is the best I could ask for someone who re-innovate my base often. Crawl helps me when I build complicated and compact machines. (I play create mod a lot) And Wall Jump gets rid of the hassle of having to place blocks just to reach a bit of height, because let’s admit it, that ruins a lot of beautiful, completed builds and sceneries. I would even lose map and mini map for these 3 mods since build-in map already works fine but these 3 abilities are not. I mean, it just doesn’t make sense! You couldn’t scale over a fence with a height of your waist even though you already can jump 1 meter high. You couldn’t crawl at will, but if you close trapdoor over you, then you suddenly can. And come on! Moving hundreds of items out of a box every time you want to move them?

Shootout to Forgery/Fabrication, a huge collection of fixes, tweaks and balance changes for vanilla minecraft that's fully customizable and replaces many mods by itself. Also the many mods by Someaddon. He has many performance enhancing mods and general fixes, along with some tweak mods.

@@CrittersModMenagerie Glad to help. Perhaps you could do a followup video? there are a few extra mods going around that I consider essential. Here are a some from my current mod setup: - Async locator - Chunky - Sinytra connector (Requires Forgified Fabric API) + Connector Extras - Clumps - Better third person - Cycle switcher - Entity texture features - Entity model features - CIT Resewn / Forge CIT - Let me despawn - Mobtimizations - Modern Fix - No telemetry (functionality included in Debugify, but this one works in Forge 1.20.1) - Paper doll - Stylish effects - Yung's Traveler Titles Also I'm waiting for Better Biome Blend to update to 1.20.1, but it covers 1.19 currently.

I personally always like to use the notes mod. Ill have to check the creator, but it's a must-have for me personally. Really, its the best for anyone into roleplaying or writing story type stuff, but also as a coordinates book! Plus you can open up the various notes in a note program on the computer (at least on Windows). Edit: its by Chaosyr :> easily my favorite essential mod, I've even tried getting it on vanilla worlds and stuff. Its all clientside too!

If i could ask for a mod to make more realistic, id love to where data saves what where you been, but instead of an easy mini map you can always use, but have to make maps to use said mini maps/chunks of the world map, with this you can also easily able to cope maps to put on item frams as well as make line like thteds to show roads or pins for bad or good things

What arisenspirit mentioned, Map Atlases seems to be the closest mod that does what you want. The only thing I'm unsure about is whether you can copy the maps on item frames (could be done in the cartrography station maybe?)

For all of the "branch" mods in the performance section, do you have to install those in ADDITION to the base mod? Or are they just their own entire seperate mod built from the foundation of the base mod?
@CrittersModMenagerie
@CrittersModMenagerie 4 күн бұрын
The branch mods operate as their own mods, so they don't require the base mod. They're basically recreations of a mod but for a different mod loader (or for an older version of the game).

About the mod that lets you break a specific type of block all at once, what if I broke a piece of netherac and then all of it would break and that would surely be the new netherite mining technique but it will cost you your computer due to all of the block being broken in the nether
@CrittersModMenagerie
@CrittersModMenagerie 27 күн бұрын
If you broke a block like netherrack, I believe it just breaks a good chunk around you. It wouldn't actually break all the netherrack or all the stone at once for reasons like you said. The radius is configurable if I recall so you can raise or lower it, but it won't actually go that far.

The torches are from the Luminous Resourcepack. I don't believe dynamic lighting can be done from the pack, it would need to be achieved with shaders and/or a dynamic lights mod.

Kinda sad to see Nvidium left out, as I think it deserves more attention. Nvidium is a Fabric addon for Sodium that replaces the renderer with one that uses Nvidia-specific OpenGL extensions called mesh shaders. It not only improves frame rates significantly more than the standard Sodium renderer, but also allows you to have it keep chunks in VRAM to continue rendering them even beyond the normal render limit, even on multiplayer servers, for almost no performance impact. There are two drawbacks: first, as alluded to earlier, it requires a new-ish Nvidia GPU; it needs either a GTX 1600 series or RTX 2000 series card or newer. The second is that it does not work if you have shaders enabled. If you use it with an unsupported GPU or enable shaders, it falls back to the Sodium renderer without causing any problems, so there's no harm in including it in a modpack. There currently is no Forge port of Nvidium, however I have gotten it to work with Embeddium using Sinytra Connector. It requires some config file editing, so that Sinytra knows Embeddium satisfies the Sodium requirement, and to remove the Sodium version number requirements. If a modpack creator wishes to include it in a modpack, they can easily include the two config files needed in their modpack, and players won't need to do a thing.
@CrittersModMenagerie
@CrittersModMenagerie Ай бұрын
@scpredmage It was written in my script, however when it came to recording, Nvidium was oddly performing lower than just using Sodium. Tried to have a look at it in case it was something on my end, but eventually I had to just move on and scrap it from the video. If I ever did a follow on from this video, I'll do what I can to bring Nividium back in
