Seen a couple comments pointing this out, yes I know ProjectE is still being updated. No, I did not know that until said comments told me. Haven't seen it in a modern day pack or even pop up on the mod browser when browsing so I was under the impression it was abandoned.

I've seen it in a few packs. If I had to guess people hates balancing it, the tiniest mistake and someone has infinite emc, it basically has to be banished to the end of any pack its in

It isn’t really in any packs unless it’s the main content mod because of how progression breaking it is also it legit gives you creative flight for the cost of a single villager ontop of infinite items it’s creative mode with a bit of progression built into it

I mean, 1.7.10 is kind of ancient. I never played on it, but I saw the glory of this version through let's plays. What REALLY caused my psychic damage is that 1.12.2 is becoming considered ancient

I didn't start until after vanilla 1.8 came out, but 1.7.10 was a significant checkpoint for a lot of mods (I believe it was at least partially to do with how Mojang drastically changed block/item models in 1.8 which made updating things require people to learn the new json model & blockstate system, when very few tools existed for it at the time). As such, I still played quite a few 1.7.10 packs because that was what bigger packs were stuck at for quite a few years...

Hell, last time I sat down and played Minecraft was 1.6.4. That was back when Thaumcraft was still at 4 and the Forestry mod was the only was you could do stuff with bees.

1.7.10 used to be the heaven for minecraft mods. Orespawn, thaumcraft, galacticraft, bibliocraft, ect. If anyone here remembers crazy craft modpack, you have been around for so long.

Love the video! I should note, ProjectE is still being updated to this day, and Archimedes Ships has been remastered and split into Valkyrien Skies (which adds support for physics) and Eureka (which adds the actual ship part). Valkyrian even has a crossover mod with Create, called Clockwork.

Bibliocraft, Carpenters Mod, and Balkan's Weapons were among my favorites. Biblio added so much, including customizable furniture and a typewriter where mobs could write books. There was the Shadow Dimension, which had potential, Ancient Ruins, and while Mo' Creatures hasn't been forgotten, it seems to have been abandoned, the same with Millnaire, with it's varied cultures and settlements that grew if you traded resources with them.

I have missed Bibliocraft for the last few versions, I occasionally used the shelves and such, but the really OP thing was the printing press letting you copy enchanted books. Modern mods give /other/ ways of duping enchants but the Printing Press holds a place in my heart and memory.

Balkans Weapons is still the greatest Vanilla+ weapons mod ever. Mo’ Creatures was cool, but nowadays mods like Alex’s Mobs and Enemy Expansion outclass it. I miss IndustrialCraft, GalactiCraft, Witchery, and Fossils & Archaeology. Also shoutout to the Candy Land dimension lol Edit - there’s a Balkan’s Weapons port on 1.20.1 called Balkan’s Weapons Legacy

None of these mods died in 1.7. The original mods were updated to at least 1.12 and all of them have some equivalent that is updated to 1.20. Openblocks: kibe utilities updated to 1.20 Extra utilities: kibe utilities updated to 1.20 Project E: 1.20 Archimedes ships: eureka! and valkyrien skies updated to 1.20 Morph: remorphed updated to 1.20

Open Blocks and ExtraUtilities were must haves for mod packs back in the day. Especially technology & automation focused ones. Barrels were really handy for things like BuildCraft's oil & fuel, the liquid tank was great for storing stuff, glider worked great with jetpacks, generators worked perfectly with the machines from Thermal Expansion & Minefactory Reloaded (another forgotten mod).

Open blocks got taken apart and has some mods reimplementing things from it: gliders, elevators, etc. Archimedes ships has its own successor - Eureka! Ships! (Which is an add-on for a library Valkyrien Skies)

It’s really funny seeing ProjectE in this form since I remember it during the days of Tekkit where it was more about chests and stationary inventories than it was about an on the go utility. Also all the tools and rings were so powerful yet completely broken like the flying ring that never actually took energy. Also interesting seeing it as just its own mod instead of being a complimentary mod that helps the rest of the mod pack. In fact basically every single mod mentioned here was functionally that. Small mods that added a fair bit, but were only ever complimentary mods to whatever mod pack you were playing.

god i miss the morph mod, every time i come back to modded minecraft i look to see if it’s been updated because it was such a huge part of my early modded experiences. it made killing a bat an important part of progression, getting to fly around as one of those was such a cool experience. i hope someone picks it back up eventually, i would hate to see it vanish into memory altogether.

There was a mod called Cellular Automata which used a procedure to generate “Great Wall of China” style walls, cities, and roads. I think it was last available in 1.7.10

Lots of the major things from openblocks, extra utilities, and the chicken bones mods have modern ports, the likes of openblocks elevator, chicken chunks 1.8+, and angel ring 2 Project e is still around and updated, it just isn’t really included in packs because nowadays people know exactly how broken it is

Most of the mods that you look at in this video are my go-to mods when it comes to playing 1.7.10. All of them add things to minecraft that either change the dynamic of gameplay or add things that just feel fluid, especially when used with other mods. The 1.7.10 era of minecraft modding will always be my favorite

Oh dear lord I still boot up a modpack with all 4 of these sometimes. So much headspace wasted on these mods. I still remember that the Rainbow bacon is the only Pam's harvest craft feast with an EMC value because it only contains vanilla items in its recipe, but because lapis lazuli was one of those ingredients its still cheaper to just pull out a stack of steak.

ProjectE is still maintained but i havnt seen any modpacks use it in a LONG time Some notable ones i remember is that one that has like random weird events that spawn tons of op monsters that was in like every modpack at the time for some reason, and the one that summoned those weird cobblestone towers with a cyclopse at the top

I love Extra Utilities. It's still not forgotten in my mind. The cursed earth created from the ritual with the division sigil is really useful for mob grinders, as they have increased spawn rate for hostile mobs, and make any mob spawner on top work faster. But a mod I really miss, is Blood Magic... Or it's extention mod Sanguimancy. Loved Sanguimancy.

It's not extinct per se, since it has a tight-knit active community, but you should absolutely check out the Lord of the Rings mod. It's seriously probably the largest, most cohesive, and most well-crafted mod that Minecraft has ever seen, but it goes mostly under the radar because it stayed on 1.7.10 and the developer was never very public-facing. This mod is seriously it's own game, it's that massive, it's a complete overhaul of Minecraft to turn it into Middle-earth. Just to clarify, there is a newer "Renewed" version of the mod for 1.16, but the dev didn't get super far into the development before pausing for an undetermined amount of time. If you check the mod out (and again, you absolutely should, you're seriously missing out if you haven't tried it before), make sure you're getting the Legacy version for 1.7.10.

1.7.10 and 1.12 were MEGA modding eras. some of the best mods come from those times

Mostly also because it took Ages to move on from those versions, the turn around time these days Really doesn't favour the scene much as by the time Neo Forge updates they're almost immediately having to start on updating to the next Minecraft version, After 1.12 they also took their time to Rewrite Forge from scratch which also made 1.12 such a popular version because for like a Year or more people could work on that version and just focus on the mod itself instead of making sure it's available for the latest version

Oh boy, good ol combo of Morph mod and Lycanites. Player files on server with these two could go up to 10-15 gigabytes and cause serious lags. Miss it

I think you saw some of Dahomeyian Video. He did some very cool and unique Minecraft Retrospectiv Videos. Sadly he deleted all of his Videos at the beginning of the year, because he got bullied with false Copyright Strikes. I got some of them as a Backup. Also to this Video Thaumcraft was my favorite Mod. But it didn't get any Updates anymore. Last Version was for 1.12. I want so god danm bad a new Blightfall Modpack within modern Minecraft. Another mod that was forgotten that I loved is Better than Wolfs from back in the Beta and early 1.0 days. The mod was very like the Create Mod and I am so thankful that Create is the new Better then Wolfs Mod.

Galacticraft is pretty forgotten eventhough everyone remembers it nobody plays it anymore since its stuck on old Minecraft versions. Like most mods on this list it has a spiritual successor being Ad Astra.

A really old mod I didnt see mentioned but absolutely loved and wish could be brought back to modern minecraft is Runes of Wizardry/ Runic Dust Mod. Its gone by a few different names over the years and at some point got a 1.12.2 port but by todays standards its very outdated. Despite playing 1.7.10 quite often I miss those mods I wish they ported those mods to newer versions

morph mod is also not dead its been remade under a new name called Remorphed not to mention several other remakes for other past versions
