If you dont have one of the vacuum operated brake bleeders to suck up the fluid then here is a tip when bleeding the the calipers make your self a collection reservoir simply by getting an old soft drink plastic bottle and some clear plastic hose that will fit snugly over the brake bleeding nipple. So put your ring spanner over the plastic hose and then attach the end of the hose to the end of the brake caliper bleed nipple. With the other end of the hose pierce the cap of the soft drink bottle and push the hose into to the bottom. Use enough hose so that the bottle can be placed on its base on the ground. Then bleed your brakes . This way you will not have to worry about the fluid leaking onto your paint , garage floor , hands etc - its cleaner more effective safer then just squirting it into a towel wrapped around the bleed nipple

You said "nipple". And then "squirting". :)

Also if you are old enough to still own a lighter you can burn a hole in the side of said bottle to run the hose through to reduce the likelihood of spillage. I tend to find the cap method more annoying.

Awesome video 👍😁 just received a set of these brake lines in green 😍😜 someone may have said this, but i’m not gonna look lol, but a tip would be to go to lowes or home depot and get a clear rubber line that will fit snugly onto the caliper bleeder valve and run that into a container. Works awesome and no break fluid going everywhere 😁😁😁🤓

Hi Jake. Before you drained the fluid from the old lines, you pumped the brake a bit the opened the bleed nipple. Why? It that to get some fluid out of the reservoir to prevent spillage for when you open the reservoir? Despite you mocking the customiser aspect of this series, it is a great help with just general bike knowledge, and we really appreciate that. Thanks

Hey man, great vid - but is there a reason you don't use a catch bottle for the fluid that's bled out? I've always used one to stop the fluid splashing everywhere and make it easy to see when new fluid is coming through clean/free of bubbles, but I wondered if there's a reason I don't know about to do it without!

One way so you don't have to use rolls of rags to clean up the fluid. Use a plastic bottle and clear hose that fits snugly over the bleeder nut. Fill the bottle half just so the tip of the hose is covered with fluid and then proceed to the bleeding process. I've done this a lot with semi trucks that have the hydraulic brakes. Works a ton better and you don't have to clean up as much.

@FourFortyFourPM7 жыл бұрын
I'm just curios as to why you didn't remove the reflectors attached to your front brake calipers. I removed mine on my FZ-07 but have wondered if I made a mistake because I'm thinking that maybe they act as a washer for the caliper bolts or possibly some sort of reinforcing brace for the brake calipers. Do you have any feedback for me regarding this?
