I'm pretty sure having the kickstand that short is just a weird old dual sport thing. A lot of the old dual sports out of the '90s had kickstands that short. No idea why they were short then and long now. That adjustable kickstand is really cool though.

Hi Jake. If you lengthen the side stand , you cannot put the stand down when sitting on the bike unless ground absolutley flat. The bike stands close to vertical and you risk dropping bike as you dismount. This has happened to two 300 Rally owners here . The joy of long soft suspension. Enjoying your happy presentations. Regards Charlie.

As an older rider I have the same issue. Initially I could just about swing my leg over the seat but when I added a small tail bag it proved impossible. With encouragement from an even older Tenere rider I have now learnt to lean well forward over the tank then stand on the peg and swing into the saddle in time to stop the bike falling over to the right. Need to be tall or it may prove a disaster. Reckon I may invest in a longer sidestand anyway as I always use a 35mm wood block in the garage to save parking space. The standard left lean on this bike is crazy.

Mine is even worse on my Rally now that I have a stiffer shock. I saw their kickstand a few weeks ago and was thinking about it. I'm going to try sectioning and lengthening the stock stand. Replacements are super cheap from Honda, so I ordered a couple to cut up and add about 1 inch of length. Need to find some steel tubing to sleeve either inside or outside to make sure it's strong.

If you look at my MT07 adv series we can see how I extended the kickstand on that. One of the tricky things you’ll run into is it makes the kickstand heavier and the spring will be too soft. We ended up remaking the spring attachment point a bit further down. Not really ideal to just stretch a too weak spring to make it work. Also it ended up bending a bit and we had to fix it. That’s in the videos towards the end of the series. So you can modify them but going longer is a can of worms.

@@TheGardenSnake I remember seeing some of those issues you dealt with on that stand. I may need to rethink this. I was honestly a little sketched out by an adjustable stand and question how sturdy it is. You seem to suggest it's beefy in your video. Thank you for the feedback

FYI for anyone else. I just installed mine. I noticed that they didn’t angle the foot pad, so the kick stand is riding on its edge toward the back tire. Probably won’t be an issue in the long run. Just annoying that they overlooked that for an overpriced kick stand.

Ya, the kickstand is a bit un-nerving! Me, being 64 and now on my own CRF300L, first off road bike since the mid 70s. Leg don’t swing over the seat like it used to! I watched another video on how to mount by first stepping on the foot peg and thought for sure it would pull the bike over, but no! I am getting more comfortable with it now but know I will do some kind of mod to extend it. Again, just like the 70’s, slide on a platform ‘shoe’ on the end!🤣👴🏻🇨🇦

IF YOU ARE OFF-ROADING people need a mud-foot on the stand? Cost's less than a dollar. That will help your wheels upright in the rough. I also attached Long Stands to the metal bar that surrounds the seat. If my 'scoot falls over fully loaded I simply unfold the appropriate Long Stand, and lift the machine up with the Long Stand supporting the machine as you stand it up 9in small stages.

Hi Jacob, biggest fan of your's. Have been watching ur channel forever. But lately it's been more about promoting sponsors and speaking about Patreon. I miss the content like "my wife gave me an enema" or "Fireguy is my best freind". I will still keep tabs on your channel since you're the one who single handedly started to get me back into motorcycling. But I still lack the previous content you used to publish....
@TheGardenSnake3 жыл бұрын
Well thanks for sticking with me over the years. Your issues with my content is two different things so I’ll address them one at a time. The old riding around talking about funny stories and being a hooligan doesn’t really work anymore. No one watches that stuff and KZbin nerfs it hard. Can’t get sponsors doing that kinda stuff either. So it makes no sense financially. Also I’m 36 years old, married, and have two kids. Can’t keep being a full time hooligan. I’ll still do it from time to time but not 3-4 days a week anymore. Secondly shouting out the patreon for like 30 seconds or so is something you can easily skip past. But patreon pays the bills and is the only reason you see a video at all. KZbin pays me hardly anything. You’re getting free content from me at the end of the day. If I stop for a minute to promote something that feeds my family and you don’t like that then leave. Sorry to be blunt but I’m not stopping the push for patreon.
