@@TheGebs24 I don't doubt someone will come along and buy it, but I find it difficult to understand paying so much to own it in _that_ condition. Taking resale potential out of the equation, I probably wouldn't pay £20 for a box like that, nevermind £200. For me personally, the items in my collection are special to me, games that I enjoy looking at or interacting with. Opening that tatty box will never give me that feeling. I'll probably never own a big-box Super Metroid because the prices for a good condition one are far more than I'm willing to pay, but I'm fine with that! I still have a lot of other items to enjoy (tbh I'd rather own the Super Famicom version which has much nicer artwork!).

£200? No chance! The nostalgia for this stuff is going to peak at some point in the next few years, and the generations below wont have the affinity for this stuff that folk of our vintage have ... watch the pricing on things like this take a tumble then.

I hope you're right. I don't care that some games I paid £10 for are now worth £100 because I'm never going to sell them anyway, but I'd love to be able to pick up some of the things I didn't buy back then for a reasonable price

I Used to pop in there on a regular basis many years ago, ages since I've been to Castleford though! Always has some nice rarities in the cupboards. There's a retro game shop in Scarborough that I've been in a few times, think its called the Game Pad, small shop but's it's packed floor to ceiling, one of those places where you really have to have a good rummage! Worth a visit if you're ever out that way! There's a retro toy shop in Filey too that stocks quite a few games, only a 20 minute drive away from Scarborough :).

i'm glad you didn't pick up that Super Metroid, it's missing the inside lids, and has too much damage on the corners and otherwise, to me the fact that the lids are missing, means i would just throw that box in the trash, as it's broken and incomplete, not spending money on crap like that, that should just be sold as loose cart + players guide

Personally I think 3 could've been really good if they hadn't packed every corner with bullet sponges. I think it actually takes away from the atmosphere. Reminds you you're playing a game. There's also a few another annoyances like those pits you can fall down. Really not.a great addition to a game that's mostly in the dark with awkward camera angles. It does still look fantastic on a CRT though. One of the best looking PS2 games.

Big box Metroid was in my local Electronics Boutique around the PS1 era for 3 years on the shelf and nobody picked it up. I was bamboozled by PS1/Saturn at the time so never gave it a look either. It was £70 if memory is correct. Mind £70 in 1995/6/7 was quite a bit of money then. I never buy games that are less than 8/10 condition. Just finished Wavetale on the switch, quite a good game for the 5/6 hours it takes to complete., very easy going and a good story. I have moved away from using original hardware pre HDMI except GC/PS2 including handhelds, A GBA SP standard screen is just so lame these days.
