As a collector, I no longer have the money or space to pledge for more than one deck when the only difference is color. An additional version needs to have value added, ideally in more than one area (e.g. gilding, foil, deluxe tuck box).

I like to have 3-5 in a set. Red and blue players edition, a limited special edition(foil), limited foil gilded edition, the occasional private reserve/ap/proto edition. The limited foil edition, gilded edition, and private reserve edition may be combined into one deck or each be their own deck. Mini decks are also fun to have sometimes. That being said 6 makes for a really nice rounded number that can be put into a nice half brick display much like the successor or AOP Standard playing cards. Having more editions than just my 3-5 is totally fine but it needs to have purpose and feel like it belongs there. TGW always seams to make it work so perfectly in my opinion. I love my little library of Dynastinae and black/gold foil decks that I have been building since the Parlour.

Every NOC deck must be collected. All 5.3*10^42 of them.

Generally, I would say 4 is enough. A couple of standards in 2 different colors and a couple of more limited editions, possibly a gilded or whatever. If they prove immensely popular then a couple of 2nd editions a year or so down the track would be appropriate

An interesting discussion. I definitely feel that some creators go way overboard with some artificially limited and "rare" editions. I will generally stay away from those options. Probably the craziest variant set I went in for was "The Planets". It was nine different designs with two variants, so 18 decks in total. It did allow me to buy a complete set at once and "guarantee" I wouldn't miss a popular one. I really hate the super rare tiers that vanish in seconds. I generally will not even bother.

I've stopped buying recolours in general. Use the time and effort to find the colour that highlight whay you are trying to show and leave it there. With milking it you will end up dropping completeonists out from your future decks. So for me, anything more than 3 variants is too much nowdays...sorry. id it goes more, just make seperate campaigns with less in it.

The color of the deck doesnt matter if the faces are not different. Gilded this and holo that. Make one deck that is all of that. Im not falling for the different variant if the faces are not different and its getting pricy trying to collect all the color variants. Rare this and limited that. It gets old very fast and the main reason for me why i havent purchased a new deck in over a year
