I would change something here. Would state the food instead of Ronaldo. Not that Ronaldo isn't a big deal, I think he is the GOAT, but as far as Portugal's reasons, if you're visiting, food will be much more important. With over 500 miles of ocean front, Portugal has some of the best options of sea food out there. But not just fish, also the meat is awesome as well! Food, that's one of the reasons I'm so happy here :)

@@brixcosmo Hlooo broo Are you from Portugal I have a doubt Please reply brooo❤️
@brixcosmo Жыл бұрын
@@JoelJose-ty9xt Yes! Let's hear it! By the way Joel is a Portuguese name. José can be Portuguese or Spanish. It's not like we were different People in the begining of both Kingdoms. Although Portuguese became much more diverse 'cause of our 880yo History. I went to research it 'cause it's not a common name. Mine ain't either. I'm André but my origins are Moorish-Portuguese. I might have known 4-5 Joels in my life max. It's a Hebrew name. By guest is that you descend of the Sephardic Jews community in Portugal or Spain. Take in consideration that the Sephardic Jews community in the Iberian Peninsula was prior to the existence of both Kingdoms. Portuguese and Spanish Kingdoms were born out of the guts of the Umayyad occupation of the Iberian Peninsula (Al-Andalus) by what we called the Muslim Moors (Arabs and Amazighs (Berbers)). Umayyad Caliphate, Nizari, Almoravids, Almohads, Nasrids. The Sephardic Jews helped both Portuguese and Spanish Kingdoms defeating the Muslim Moors more like spies i believe not really fighting. But thiz not really linear 'cause thousands of Moors also comverted to Caliphate and embraced the new Kingdoms and became Portuguese and Spanish. The dane happened with Sephardic Jews. But afterwads in 1492 the Spanish Inquisition told them to convert to Christianity or leave. That was unffair to say the least that's why Portugal and Spain did laws to grant Citizenship to People that descent from these Sephardic Jews communities in the Iberian Peninsula. That is hranted under request and after aproval by the Sephardic Jews Communities existent in Portugal and Spain. But a lot of Portuguese have Jewish Ancestry. Daniela Melchior (Ratcatcher at Suicide Squad) or Daniela Ruah (NCIS) both working in USA for example do! You can see by their Surnames that are Hebrew like Joel is! Sean Paul Henriques (Reggae/Dancehall Artist) also does. His Paternal Family was Portuguese Sephardic Jew. They only migrated to Jamaica centuries after. In 17th or 18th Century i believe. So i belive they converted to Christianity. This doesn't really make sense for me 'caise i'm not religious at all. I always thought Sephardic Jews were Christians. That's how much i know about religions 😂

Dear Portugal. You are back in the world spotlight with your charms and your food and your landscapes. Your immigrants have spread all over the world. You have given us the ukulele, malasadas, caldo verde, piri piri chicken, Port Wine and pasteis de nata. Your coffee is the best in Europe. Your wine is unique and delicious. You gave us Eusebio, Figo and Cristiano Ronaldo. You gave us Fado and Amalia Rodrigues. You gave us your language and your poetry. You gave us the globalized world. But for some bloody reason you have not given us your architecture and your immaculate sense of design. Portugal, you NEED to export your amazing architecture to the rest of the world, especially North America. The cities here are so drab, dull, boring and ugly. You have perfected the European sense of space and design. Even your sidewalks are works of art. Even your modern buildings are attractive and well thought out. Lisbon and Porto are magical cities. Madeira and the Azores are floating gardens in the sea. The rest of the world needs you to teach us. Help us, Portugal. Help us. Teach us how to make things beautiful again. Portugal: The most epic little country on the planet.

The snowy landscapes of the Estrela mountains, the rough wildlands of Tra's-os-Montes, the laid-back plains of Alentejo, the posh beaches of the Algarve, the tropical but traditional feel of Medeira, the nature unspoiled of the Azores and the never ending small towns and locations in between with its own unique treasures. Considering the fact that Portugal is a somewhat an isolated country located in the most western point in Europe, that is situated in a peninsula and its only border is with Spain, Portugal does not suffer from great migrations of people as much as other countries, this fact in tandem with public mentality of the irreversability of consequences for your actions not only for your self but also for other people, make most of us "the portuguese" a very pacifist populace. It is not like we don't have feelings of hatred or dislikes about other people or cultures, we simply don't see any point in spending energy on something that isn't productive, after all hatred generates more hatred. I recon this type of mentality is also due to our colonization past and the fact that we had to come to therms with our past be it the good or the bad. A good example of a demonstration of our civil order is how most dealt with the pandemic and how most adhered to the vaccination, or even how people protest. I guess this lack of "violent" action regarding to sertain situations leaves us prone to them but all in all a life with out unnecessary complications is a more enjoyable one. All I ask of you who visit us is to treat us with as much respect as we treat you even if we are weird in our own way and have our quirks.

I love Portugal, it IS really the best country in the world! Even after brexit, it opened its frontiers to every englishman and women! They are so nice, that when people were living trough covid and couldnt leave the house, they offered their country to host the champions league final, and the tourists that came didnt even have to follow the rules of the lockdown! And did you know, that if you spend more than a milion euros there, youll get a golden visa? Boy, I fucking love Portugal, and if you’re not Portuguese, you’ll love it to!

IF you are a foreigner, with foreign amounts of money. Living here with minimum wage, while rents and overall cost exploded is almost impossible. You make in a normal job between 700 euros and 900 euros, a one bed apartment out of the city center is 600 to 700 euros, while rooms near the capital are half your wage. Most expats loved the summer, moved in, struggled during the winter and left. It´s one of the most corrupt countries in Europe, and it is actually more expensive then for example Spain. Most Portuguese actually intend to leave at some point, majority go to Switzerland, France and the UK. Absolutely amazing for vacation, but to live? It is super easy to get Portuguese nationality at this point, the country is completely for sale. We have favelas for example, where foregeigners don´t go - search Bairro da Jamaica, Quinta do Barruncho, Ferrel, Torrão 1 e torrão 2, Cova da Moura, etc, and there is still tons of problems with racism. If it is better than a lot of EU contries? definetely. Financially it is very very complicated, but hey if you make your money outside of Portugal, Life can be great here.

Everywhere needs money. Influx of foreigners to Portugal has increased rental prices. The countries openess may be its downfall in years to come. I do hope a balance is struck and the Portuguese people are put first
@Antarcticite1012 жыл бұрын
Oh trust me,we citizens are NOT being put first,the influx of wealthy tourists and people who came to live here absolutely destroyed the housing market,the average house/apartment within the vast majority of the populated cities go around 700€/month,while the minimum wage is about 705€ before tax,meaning if you're by yourself and need a place to live your only option is either a bedroom or sharing with a friend,unless you have a really well paying job wich even then you're not that well paid by EU standards,or you can just buy a house outright which still has a fair share of problems,not to mention the houses people got kicked out of to be made into rentals/hostels,Lisbon is already unrecognizable from what it used to be,it will not be easy for the people the next upcountry years im afraid...

That might not be the case if it were swamped with immigrants from impoverished Third World countries. Salaries are not high enough to attract this type of immigrant.
@mariomartins69603 жыл бұрын
@@perolagrande you clearly haven’t been to other European countries and lived there because if you did you would realise that immigration is not really a problem in Portugal. But if you are finding it hard to get employed it has nothing to do with immigration, it probably has to do with you rather than any body else.

These are the 17 factors about Portugal that has nothing to do with real living routines. How Portugal can be rated as the best country for living with - high level of bureaucracy - insane real estate pricing - low average income - the highest tax rates among the EU (for everything including, earnings, real estare, cars) - undeveloped business environment (it takes months to start a new company while in other countries it takes a few clicks online and one-two days to sign papers) - winters without heaters, high humidity, and mold. The country is absolutely perfect for a rich retirees.

I really do believe Portugal is an amazing country to visit, but to live in, it's very debatable. If you are a very materialistic person, do NOT go to Portugal! If you want to buy an Iphone every 2 years, a computer, or whatever item that is available everywhere else in Europa / USA, just know it will take you much more time / sacrifices to buy one. Here the minimum wage is around 700euros a month and all generic items (once again like Apple watches, Iphones etc.) cost the same if sometimes not more than in other countries. Meaning a portuguese person that earns the minimum wage (which is around 60% of the population) has to stop paying rent / eating for almost 2 months to buy the new Iphone 13. (Which is definetely something to keep in mind considering the amount of comments talking about how cheap it is. Yes it's cheap compared to the rest of Europe but as I'm writing this comment, Lisbon has been ranked 3rd most expensive city in the world to live in). But I love Lisbon and I love my country

Yeah, legend has it that Madeira was so full of trees, that the sailors who first went there had to burn a major part of the forest, and fires raged on for days, if I am not mistaken. Full of wood, absolutely full.
