Thank you for allowing God to use you to help gospel musicians all over the world. It would have been impossible to learn this on their own.

This is an excellent video! I got so much out of it. It's cool noticing how a Maj7b5 chord has the same notes as a rootless b713 chord and a b7#9#5. It happens at 6:14 where you have the rootless voicing moving chromatically. Ebmaj7b5-Dmaj7b5 equaling to Rootless F13-Bb#9#5. I love these simplifications of more advanced concepts because now I can memorize every voicing of Maj7b5 and use that chromatic movement on the fly. I think the next episode could be about rootless voicings, talking about them as shapes which can function in multiple ways depending on how you imagine them over the bass notes. Talk about why transposing them into every key and memorizing can help on the fly passing chords and movements with deeper harmonic context. Hope that makes sense!

appreciate your work. what you call the dimMaj7 is actually a dom13b9 chord. voiced from the b7 in the left hand.
@thegiftedhandsmusic Жыл бұрын
Hey! You are right about that, the Diminished Major 7th chord can also be looked at as the dom13b9. The reason why I used the term dimMaj7th is because of the root note. If the root note matches with the first note of the diminished chord then I would call it by that name. If the voicing is functioning as a dominant chord or lets say I'm playing a CdimMaj7/D then I would call it a dominant chord. Thanks for pointing that out!

Great Vid Elijah! Learnt something new. I was just wondering for the chromatic dominant movements, ik you play the dominant in the LH but what chords do you play in the RH or how do you form them everytime? Thanks a lot

You're a great musician but you move to fast.😢 You don't explain the theory behind your chords.
