I used to ride as a teen girl and as I've grown up I've wanted more than anything to get back on the bike and go to events like these again. You've no idea how much happiness it brings me to see a woman in events like these, as female riders were never in my childhood and you would have been the perfect role model for me as a little girl, as you are now that I'm fully grown. I'm sure there are plenty more girls who feel the same way watching you ride. I am so, so proud of you for finishing this race and as the only woman in the competition, I think that is a mighty achievement.

I'm not a girl, but I'm a dad to two girls. And I completely agree with you. If my girls wanted to do something like this I would love to support them. It's hard to be an extreme athlete as we get older too. Incredible effort from Vanessa.

I recognize and understand the "roller-coaster". You have learned things about yourself that always will be useful , but never should have been needed to learn (yeah yeah, it doesn't sound logical). The former accident you had was probably more of a major pain the a** - and in a lot of other places - than strictly life threatening, but this hits you in all kinds of ways: mentally, physically and so on, and it is probably harder to deal with when some parts of the brain in some ways is not actually helping you, but risking to put you in ever more dire circumstances. You most certainly did the right thing when you did hit that emergency button and got pumped with all that fun stuff in your arm. Don't be ashamed, embarrassed or anything of that kind. Know that you are a fighter and survivor and that deep down you have that crucial little extra that makes you do the right thing when it really, really counts. Trust it! (Anything that sounds like bad wording or that I don't know what I'm talking about: Ignore it! I'm translating on the fly in my head to Inglese. Intentions are good and you should know that. The rest doesn't matter.) I still have some 40 minutes of this video to watch... (and more onions to cut)
