Bought one last year. Great for all around mountain riding for speed, control, pow and stable on kickers. No real chatter over 50 mph. Rails well on the carves. Great ollie pop with the camber. Not great for rails and presses but I do some on it anyway. I love the mid with for my size 11s on the 162. Best borad I have purchased in many years. Great if your home hill has some steep and vertical. Super stoked on this board.

Have you actually GPS’d or used a radar gun to check your speed? I have and was shocked that what I thought was about 60mph was closer to 45mph. I had to straight line down a freshly groomed super long and steep run, early in the morning when the snow was at its fastest to just break 50mph.

I'm 5'10, 160, size 9.5 boot. Is the 156 a bit too wide for me? Looking for the quiver killer that won't die out in powder. I like the Uninc construction but I'm wavering between the 153, 156, or just the 156 standard construction. Mostly riding trees , side hits, and park jumps. Not a lot of jibbing these days. Thanks for any input! Currently riding an older TRS 154.5

I think the 153 Uninc would be the call for a better carver that still floats increadibly well. The 156 Standard will be better in powder but it will turn a little slower and not be as fun to turn. So it's all about what calls to you more.

Thanks! So those are two very different boards so very hard to compare. One is an all mountain directional twin with a lot of camber and the other a pretty tapered, set back directional back seat freeride board with a good amount of camber but less than the Standard Uninc. Hi more of a technical question. I just got this board but i like riding with a tiny setback. im using the same insert holes(reference stance holes) but on my back binding disc(union atlas) i slid it back horizontally a little bit to make the back binding set back 1/4 of an inch. Will this board carve differently or not as well on a groomer because im not equal on inserts? im riding it for the first time in a few days so I wanted to know incase i should just keep the stance centered for groomer carving/turning. Also would this effect how catchy it feels? Thank you and awesome reviews!!
@thegoodridesnow8 ай бұрын
That will work fine. I'd only go centered on sidecut if you plan to ride switch a lot but being set back 1/4" isn't going to feel weird. I've ridden it on the set back inserts on groomers when I was in a more directional mood and it performed very well.

@thegoodridesnow4 ай бұрын
So for bindings go Force. I think that would be best. So not only do they work with set back inserts but you can slide them to adjust your stance width. They also do better with side hits/jumps than the Atlas because of the softer foam. What make/model/size/year board do you ride now and how does it fit you?

Thanks! hard to help you decide based on the info you gave about yourself but I could say this. You could easily do both as it's not a stiff or hard board to turn for your specs. Go 156 if you like lots of control, want to butter more and like to make tighter turns. Go 159 if you want to carve harder, go faster and float easier. Not sure because I don't know what kind of boots you have. Hybrid is in another world so use that when its super deep and set it as far back as you can with the limited insert pack you have. This is very wide under foot in a 162. Check the in depth review on the site. There is an indention between the inserts and the waist called Mid-Bite so the waist width looks narrower than it is. A 162 will fit most 13's (especially reduced footprint 13's) much better than you think because it's much wider where you mount your bindings. I would call this 162 a true wide that can turn more like a mid/wide. It's fine with your weight as well. If you like a longer board you could go with the Standard 165. It will be longer/wider than the Standard Uninc 162 but it will have a lot less camber though.

They would have similar all mountain versatility and edge hold but a very different feel on snow due to the camber profiles. The Uninc will have more of a less catchy traditional camber feel vs the loose auto spinny but more forgiving feel of the Goldmember. The Uninc also has a little more set back on board than the old Gold Member but it needs full sized discs to utilize that set back. You will get a faster base too along with a more deeper/turny sidecut with the Uninc that likes to carve harder. The Gold Member is much more forgiving through.

Hey I am 176 cm 76 kg size 8 boots size what board should I choose ?? Or go for the shadowban 154 ?? I want one versatile board ride most time on piste little freestyle little on pow Please help
@thegoodridesnow Жыл бұрын
You would probably be best with a 153 Standard Uninc and you are in between sizes with the Shadowban. 154 shadowban will be better for buttering/playing around the mountain and 157 will be better in powder and better for turning, have more speed etc. What make, model and size board do you ride now and how do you like it? That might help me determine what you should go for size wise this time.

Might be a bit late to ask this but how does this compare to the korua otto? I got the otto but am looking to get a twin park/freestyle board and this is what I found.. Any comments on these two boards?
@thegoodridesnow Жыл бұрын
Not at all. You know there is a lot of overlap between the two but they each have a very fun personality. The flex is softer and there is more early rise in the tail with the Standard. It also has a little more turny sidecut and feels closer to a true twin when riding centered. It still is very much all mountain so I wouldn't get this for a twin/park board. This is a direct competitor to the Otto. Instead take a look at the YES Greats, Dicey or Jackpot for a twin/asym twin park ride. That would compliment your Otto better. I would only consider the Standard Uninc if you want to ride pipe or hit big kickers.

What would you say is too much over the recommended weight in between the 159 and 156. 159 would be better for my weight (210lbs) 156 for my boot size and height. I would be about 10-15lbs over the 156 recommended weight. Would I be sacrificing a lot of speed from downsizing to a 156 would speed be worse? Right now i ride a 158 yes typo.
@thegoodridesnow Жыл бұрын
What is your boot size and height? Boot size is most important when sizing a board and that is the determining factor of what board you should ride. Then weight. Then height but all three should be considered. Then you make compromises from there depending on boot size vs. weight vs. height.

Boot size 10.5 and height 5’9 thank you for your help appreciate it
@thegoodridesnow Жыл бұрын
156 will work well for you. That is the size I would go with if I were your specs. I would only go 159 if you like a bigger faster board but is a little harder to turn and the set back inserts might be a little wide for your stance width at 159.

For an intermediate directional rider on the east coast, would you recommend a hybrid 153 or standard uninc 156? 10.5 boots. I own 157 hybrid and 156 old jackpot. Looking for stability and more maneuverability on bumps and intro to tight tree riding. Thanks guys
@thegoodridesnow Жыл бұрын
Not sure because you didn't include your weight and height but both should have quicker turn initiation than the 157 Hybrid. I think if you want the same but more turny go 153 Hybrid. If you want less of a tapered directional feel go 156 Standard Uninc but it will be in between the 157 Hybrid and 153 Hybrid for what you want.

I can tell you from personal experience that the Excavator is an excellent board. Especially if you're not looking for a single do it all board.

How do you think this will pair with the union atlas pro?
@thegoodridesnow2 жыл бұрын
Review is coming but you trade dampness you get with the regular Atlas for a stiffer/more responsive base plate with the Atlas Pro. If you are ok with that then it's a great fit.

Does this board in a 156 turn about the same quickness as a Greats in a 154?
@thegoodridesnow Жыл бұрын
It's in between the 154 and 156 Greats. If you have a 154 Greats and you like how that feels go 156 Standard Uninc for sure.

Great review guys! Which did you like better, the PYL Uninc or this?
@thegoodridesnow Жыл бұрын
Thanks! They are both great for different types of riders or riding moods. If you are all about powder and really directional groomer riding go PYL Uninc. If you want a one board quiver to ride centered on groomers and set back in pow or just don't like the tapered feel go Standard Uninc.

It fits his size 12's really well actually. This is a much wider ride than you would think by looking at the waist. Check the in depth review on the site. He is a little heavy for it but not by as much as you would think and he does prefer smaller rides for his size.

@thegoodridesnow thanks for the info. Jonesing to ride already and I'll check in with you formally about a new board later in summer.
