I went to college in a highly technical field and make $240K base salary and I still cant afford to by anything but a shack. Certainly cant afford anything over $1Million. Something here does not make any sense. After retirement savings/investments, rent, car payments (a cheap car), insurance, and living expenses there is not much left. She must be making over $500k off youtube videos or something or mommy and daddy money or something? This just doesn't make any sense. She made a new money move - She jumped into a large, expensive house as sort of a vanity move for making good money. Then she realized what we all do when we do that mistake... You really DON'T need that much room, the land taxes, insurance, and utility costs are too high. And it is smarter to invest that money into a variety of passive money-making machines BEFORE you get that dream home... so your machines can fund your dream. It wasn't just about finding the perfect interior, we looked at everything. The actual location, the school district, the lot itself (don't want sidewalks since we have to shovel the snow here for like half the year), no fire hydrant, are the neighboring lots new houses (lots of tearing down old house and reconstruction in the area we were looking at).... In my city a decent house is really expensive, and everything needs to be perfect for such a big investment

My problem with these types of videos is that they almost never relate to the average citizen. Like sure she has a $1.3 million dollar home, but she is also making like 35-40k a month... And at the age of 25 nonetheless, I would guess she must have a wealthy family or got pretty lucky *EDIT: I found out she is a pretty big youtuber*. I don't know any job positions that have a starting salary of 35-40k a month fresh out of school. The whole how she paid for the house is simple, she makes 35-40k a month. I feel anyone making that could afford a 1.3 million dollar house. What would have been better is HOW she is making that much money at 25. In terms of this video, what would really impress me is the person who went through college paying their own debt, working a beginning average annual salary of like 40 - 50k/year in their early 20s, then having said accomplishments by 25 - 30. Obviously it would be a lot harder and interesting for someone like that to obtain similar goals then someone who makes an average yearly salary in a month. I feel it would be very entertaining if some company or even Graham himself found individuals such as this and made a video series interviewing them on how they achieved success from a more realistic standpoint.

She did work pretty hard. Getting big on KZbin takes a lot of time and effort, and it certainly doesn't happen overnight. She didn't just get given 35k a month for no reason. So she is in fact a "normal citizen", she put in work to get the money she has.

So living in a 3rd world country, my issue with all the advice (Specifically around how much you should spend on a house) I hear from people online is that it, unfortunately, does not always apply to my situation. In my country, South Africa, housing is ridiculously expensive. My rent costs about half of my salary and this was the cheapest rent in a moderately safe area (which is a big deal here because we have about 54 murders a day and break in's happen at literally every time of the day, I chased and caught the guy who tried to break into my parent's place last week). Now rentals become more affordable because purchasing a place at the same value of my rental is next to impossible in a semi-decent area. Now to also put this into perspective, my girlfriend and I live together and split all costs so rent with utilities comes to roughly 1 3rd of my salary, and running a calculator shows that my girlfriend and I have a combined salary that is in the top 10% of earners in SA... Being in the top 10% of earners in our country and we cannot afford to buy a place mostly due to our affordability with the bank and ridiculously high housing prices, what are we supposed to do? We don't live a lavish lifestyle, only own second-hand cars which are paid off and still, we basically live at our limit. I'm in no way saying the content you produce is wrong, I just wanted to let other people understand that some times your situation doesn't allow you to live as you ideally should because of factors that are out of your hands.

Asking people to comment "I can't believe you burned your house down" is lowkey a pro gamer move and not random at all.

Lol "Vlogmas" was started by Ingrid Nielsen aka "MissGlamorrazzi" in 2012 or 2013 the purpose behind that was because her subscribers (myself included) wanted her to vlog everyday leading up to Christmas because we were being nosey and wanted to see how she prepared for the holidays. She said she would do it but needed a name and she left it up to her audience to come up with the name and that's where the term "Vlogmas" was born. KZbinrs took it and ran with it and now sadly she isn't really credited for starting Vlogmas.

Omg thank you on the modern farmhouse comment!!! I thought I was the only one in that boat. When I bought the house, I had to replace all appliances, cut down trees, replace furnace and AC... lol. I ended up patching the roof instead of replacing it. Things you get in a neglected 20 yo home. They told me everything was remodeled and updated. 🧐

Also collaborations with brands youtubers do and if I’m not wrong they are paid for the photos they put on Instagram, I know celebrities get paid for them so

Sponsorships. Influencers are easily paid 30K or more for one Instagram-photo or a short video.
@MissyxAkunai4 жыл бұрын
@@shadowfox009x I would prob say you're looking at more like 10-20k depending on the product. Maybe that much if it was a video sponsor. Affiliate links would give commission (which as a lifestyle blogger 5-15% depending on the brand) is important and same with merch (which usually gets you 15-25%)

Her 20s mistakes? What was that?
@Nooneknows594 жыл бұрын
Syazwani Shukri She had a video in which she details the mistakes she made in her earlier 20s. She said spending money on designer items. She gave a specific example of buying a Chanel backpack that she has only worn a few times, despite it costing over 5k. She also detailed spending a lot on rent. These are just two of the mistakes she mentioned, but she elaborated on others in her video. She’s still in her twenties though, but seems to have learned lol
