Summary: 1. Don't live above your means - The money you save in your 20s is worth exponentially more than the money you save in your 30s due to compound interest. 2. Build up your credit score - Get a credit card, spend some money with it, pay it off in full every month and increase your credit score. 3. Don't wait for things to happen - If there's something you want, make it happen. Even if you have no idea what you want to do, use this as a time to try new things and gain new experiences. 4. Take more risk - Put yourself in uncomfortable positions, try a new career, start a business. If you could do anything right now and you wouldn't fail at it, what would you do? You can do these things now while you don't have too many responsibilities. 5. No one has it all figured out - Most people are just winging it as they go along. You will always have some doubt about what your are doing, but everyone else has those doubts too. 6. Don't worry about nothing - If you spend your time thinking about things that are probably not going to happen, you will be taking that time away from other things which you could be working towards to better your life.

This is a whole mood. I think all the passive learning I did listening to his videos set me up for success for when I actually started a job and got an income. He’s the reason I know what a high yield savings account is, why APYs and debt interest rates matter so much, what the difference between a Roth and traditional account is, how it can be really cool and inspiring to live below your means and to take genuine pride in your savings and investments even if no one else sees or knows about them. And it’s all doubly important for women bc financial knowledge isn’t typically taught to us or encouraged in us bc of stupid gender roles. Thanks to my own hard work, a good bit of luck, and people like Graham Stephan, who are or at least feel quite genuine in sharing financial knowledge, I’ve saved and invested 20k this year alone. Super proud of myself. You can do it too!

The day I turned 21 my mind was on partying, vacations, and a new sound system for my car. I was a mortgage loan officer at the time, and I am SO thankful that a bunch of my old coworkers practically held me down and FORCED me to set up my 401k, contributing 10% per paycheck, including the company match. I’m 34 now and let’s just say that I am very, very happy that those dudes made me open up my 401k account at such a young age.

I recognized how expensive Starbucks was, so every time I wanted to go get a coffee, I would put that money in a savings account and not go get one. Eventually I had enough money to buy an espresso machine, I did that and have been spending $0.30 on coffee daily instead of $6/day. Yesterday I went to Starbucks to see how close I was to their flavors (I’m trying to learn to make Quality lattes and such) and I was disgusted. Starbucks doesn’t even taste good compared to my home made stuff 😂. Thank you Graham for your amazing knowledge

The most important thing is to focus on improving yourself. Yes I know it sounds selfish, but look at it this way: when you need to put an oxygen mask in the plane, you put yours first and then you help others with theirs. I can vouch for the advice about not taking risks. I played it mostly safe in my 20's, but I put a lot of things off and I didn't take the risks that I should have. When I exited my 20's I was broke, obese, and had never been in a relationship. But things started to turn around for me in my early 30's. I got a lucky break, and then fought my way back from the abyss. I'm now one year away from being financially independent. I've lost over 100 pounds and am in the best shape of my life. I have a goal of being able to do 100 pushups by the end of the year. I'm still single, but I've been on a couple of dates and it feels like it's not impossible to meet someone. I wish I had heard this advice when I was 20. Things would have been very different for me. On the other hand, the experience from all those mistakes has made me the person I am today.

It actually reminds me of a year when I was so broke that I could barely pay my bills. I remember the most important step in my life when I invested my last income with an experienced Forex trader who was recommended to me by a friend. It may seem a bit, but it took courage to know that investing was the right thing to do at the time. Today my small investment of just $ 300 generated over $ 80,000,After I kept Investing and reinvesting. To be successful, you must take a big step. It all starts here.

I just gotta say my sister regularly tells me I do the most just to save a buck however this year alone I've managed to become debt free, raise my credit score past 750, and have now been contributing the maximum to my 401k; family has recently been asking me how I learned this and to show them how I did it and now I'm just telling them to take the initiative.

I’m currently working in a call center and I’m terrified of getting a call with a yelling customer or that I won’t be able to do something that is being asked of me. I keep dreading going to work bc of that and I just realized my fear is keeping me from earning more money because overtime is worth almost twice my hourly rate. Thank you for making this video, it made me realize I do need to just do things and leave fear behind.

As soon as I turned 18 I got a credit card, my credit score is now 740+ a year later and this is all because I started watching this channel when I was 17. My only problem is I took out student loans because I was not able to live at home and go to school and the school I go to has given me really great opportunities so I do see it as an investment and yes, not the smartest financial idea but I am majoring in Computer Science and should pay it off within one or two years post-graduation. The loans are also really low in interest rates.

I spent my 20s mostly trying to not screw up. Don't get into too much debt. Don't loose your job. Don't wreck your car. Don't do something that you will regret later. Somewhere in my early 30s I realized that this was not bringing me much success. Sure, I was not doing badly, but I was only treading water and was not building anything towards my future. Took a few years to figure out what I want to do, and am now slowly doing it. Humble beginnings, and it may fail, but even if it does fail it is not going to set me back any further than my previous course, and if it doesn't fail then it will build a future. If nothing else, the failure will be the bones to stand on for the next attempt. Little to loose, everything to gain; a good combo of safe risk towards a decent future.
