It's hard for a great white to survive against orcas not because their size but because orchas usually travel in packs especially when it's feeding time. Great white sharks on the other hand roam the waters freely and are known to attack one another if they aren't careful especially during feeding time. Though orcas are much bigger, a bite from a great white shark can do major damage to an orca. Jaws the movie was based off the great white sharks ancestors the megalodon which ate huge Wales and killed killer Wales and we're known to attack boats and ships. They grew 40 to 60 feet long and weighed 50 thousand to 100 thousand pounds. Since humans have only researched and understand only about 5% of the ocean, I'm sure there may be one still lurking the seas.

Probably prey is quite abundant where they are, so the orcas can afford to be wasteful. The liver is full of oil, and hence is the most calorie rich part of the shark. This is actually quite common in the animal kingdom; during the height of salmon runs in Alaska, brown bears often only eat the eggs and head of female salmon, and discarded anything else. Polar bears in spring and fall season often only eat the blubber of the seals they killed, leaving the meat to the scavengers.
@russg18016 жыл бұрын
Interesting that the biologists are concerned about big, nasty, dangerous sharks when a lot of folks down in Oz would prefer that they just disappeared. I recall an incident a number of years ago where animal rescue people 'saved" a couple of harbor seals. I think they were coated by an oil slick and were in bad shape. Anyway, they were rescued, washed, and nursed back to health over a period of a few weeks. Big Day came for their release from the marine aquarium, with hundreds of onlookers gathered to send them back to the wild They made it about 1/2 mile from shore before a shark had 'em both for lunch!

It's crazy how the killer whales can get to the liver without ripping the shark into 2 pieces. It's like they are surgeon.

How is a great white classified as an "apex predictor" when The orca all over the planet Make Pate out of their livers and probably wash it down with a nice Chianti? 🤣🤣 But really can there be 2 or 3 apex predators?

Orcas litterally scann the shark body with their echolocation abilities, so in a kind of way they can "see" the liver, orcas teach their youngers this is the point to target.

It's old news that orca's are the boss over the great white. What's make me concern is that fish disappeares and orca's has to find new territories for food. So it's also a problem in food chain. Very 😔.
@NoName-eq5oy5 жыл бұрын
Orcas hunt in packs, so of course a great white shark half their size doesnt stand a chance. Take a giant great white shark of lets say 22 ft and make it a 1v1 against a single orca, and the outcome could differ.
@deepdungeon84652 жыл бұрын
@Gianluca Podda uhmmmm no, GW would always torpedoes their ass away as deep as they get when they detect an Orca. It's just instinct kicking in telling the GW to get away as fast as it can.

Lol what triggered you? It's a "G" btw. I can tell English is not her first language. From her accent I can easily tell she speaks the the same language in which that place is named. Also she has a northern west coast accent. They pronounce the G with slightly more throat. But it's still pronounced properly. Gansbaai means Duck Bay...btw.

Orca, true Kings of the sea. The irony that mammals are the bosses of the sea shouldn't be lost on us.
@Disinf3ctant7 жыл бұрын
In a direct comparison orcas are not really physically more suited to killing than white sharks. The sharks have far stronger jaws and aggressive teeth arrangement. They also have far tougher skin in the event prey defends itself. But orcas travel in pods always, they communicate and know how to induce tonic immobility by leveraging their weight to knock the sharks over. But in the food chain, any advantage is an advantage and due to these factors; orcas come out on top when they decide to risk going after sharks.
@mariawaters38077 жыл бұрын
Disinf3ctant I have to agree with you on the great white it has an aggressive teeth arrangement as for the bite, neither one of us can say one or the other has a stronger bite also the orca has very sharp razor teeth that are actually larger than the great white. orcas have also been known to grow larger than great whites. but the difference here is the intelligence level the Orca knows exactly where to kill the great white and how to kill one. they're both magnificent creatures
@jamesmanuel85175 жыл бұрын
That's why they use their brain! Jesus Christ! The lack of physical attributes can be overcome through knowledge and experiences. Still orcas predate white sharks like a human predates huge crocks by using the brain! 😁

That's an exaggeration. Orcas will always have to sharpen their Hunting Skills. They are creature are Organized. One will attack a shark and stun them and another one will help to open it. Its like opening a can but they got no hands
