@@sandib4234 Im not sure how it works 100% but the horseman when mounted and on guard which is their job, are there for protection of the queens horses, property and belongings. Its uncommon and very unusual to witness anything today that has held on so strongly to tradition and professionalism so of course it draw great interest. The guards are not to let anything get in the way of their duties to the queen, because of this they do not speak to the public unless its a command reflecting or effecting them from preforming what is expected of them, they do speak to speak other guards on duty that approach in a professional way.. Taking the reins of the horse is like grabbing the stirring wheel or the keys to a police cruiser. It could also cause injury to the horse, the rider and anyone standing near by but more importantly directly effects their ability to react and is a distraction. the horse is trained to react to the smallest/lightest touch/movement of the reins Although I think the tour guide should know these things and explain and direct the ppl that are in their care and are responsable for, since they bring them to the location. I also know that there is no way these same ppl would try the same crap with a police officer, firefighter or even a body guard for the famous.. they are taking full advantage that these men are following orders that state they are not to react unless threatened

They can do as they want for the most part. The UK is still a free country. If the Horseguards administration want to prevent tourists from going into the arches they should put up a notice to that effect or a chain across the opening. They obviously don’t think walking through the sentry box is a problem, especially when it’s not occupied. Touching and patting the horses is allowed. Good manners isn’t protocol and most people have them. You only see the few that don’t on these videos because that’s what interests viewers and earns hits.

I’m an American and dream of coming to the UK. To see this in person would be beyond a dream come true. Being an American, of course I don’t know protocols. But protocols or not I would respect the guardsman doing his job and ask if I may get a picture before shoving my camera or phone in his face. They are doing a job, not entertaining people. I know I would be uncomfortable with people standing around shoving cameras in their face. Not to mention asking if I may pet the horse first before just putting my hands all over a living being. The guardsman knows their horse better then I do and if a horse was just not in the mood then why force him to do something he doesn’t want to. I don’t think it’s a tourist thing but a common sense thing. And if I get an answer of no then I will respect it and come back another time. I wish people would respect people and animals more, especially when they have a heavy responsibility such as a horse guard.

This is to answer certain questions in the chat. Why should we have to change The King's Life Guard and/or our Horse Guards for others. (The King's Life Guard are on foot and our Horse Guards are self explanatory). It is down to the individuals both from a visiting country and our own country to know what is permitted and not permitted. If you are unsure then common sense dictates that you stand around for a little while and watch others and then follow that example. If you are shouted at to get back, this is for not only YOUR benefit but for that of others as well. In response to people saying put up signs, are we expected to put up a sign in a shop saying don’t steal? Or should you be expected to know this? Does an employee stand at the door and tell everyone who enters. “Please don’t steal”. No. We have our traditions and reasons for them. Anyone who starts to handle the reins in any way WILL immediately be told to let go. Generally, if this is a young child, then our Horse guard’s will quietly say let go of the reins, if it’s an older child or an adult you WILL be shouted at!. This is done deliberately and for good cause. By handling the reins you affectively are attempting to handle the horse / take control of the horse and manoeuvre the horse. This is clearly an absolute non-starter. As for people getting close to The Kings Life Guard or to our Horse Guards again, this is tradition. I will end with this. Disrespect is not intended when you are actively being shouted at but rather it’s coming from a place of safety and awareness. The safety and awareness isn’t only for the benefit of the individual(s) who are being shouted at, but for the safety and awareness of all those other people who are standing nearby. Finally, if you was passing an armed Police Officer who is guarding a scene of a shooting, or who is stood still in the streets in the UK, in Europe, in any of The Americas…. Would you try to handle his weapon? Would you try to take control of their gun?. No you wouldn’t. Would that officer when people start standing around tell you, hey, hello, please don’t touch my gun.? No because it’s common sense. There is no difference between The Kings Life Guard, our Horse Guards in this respect. The Horses for our Horse Guards are the equivalent to an Armed Police’s Officers gun. Therefor common sense, truly should prevail. Hope this clears up a lot for everyone.

I've recently discovered that a triple tap fast forwards the video by 20 seconds. 😁

You’re making your titling dramatic, but nothing on the film just to make us stick to the end. BYE. NOT GOOD

I observe that these tourists are mostly people not used to obeying law and order. Can you imagine handling the horse's reign to endanger the guard and horse.? Do they think they are tin soldiers?

I can understand that people want to take pictures of the guards. They look beautiful. I do not understand the need to touch the horse

It’s amazing how many will walk through horse 💩 instead of the actual gate they’re supposed too! 🤦🏻♀️

The sign should also say “Don’t touch the guard, horse or reins”

Really walk through horse poop? Hardly any of the tourists really care about following protocol. Just get THEIR stupid picture. Poor horses, Guards and Police !!! They have no understanding of what they are watching. I just wish I could cross the pond and see this.
