The Voice control is a pre-gain Mids boost/cut. (the other EQ knobs are post gain). That's why the Voice affects gain.

Just Purchased this, and an American Sound. Both Used. Looking forward to playing them.
@7171jay Жыл бұрын
The Voice control sounds like it works just like it does on the Joyo American pedal which I do own. The Voice control is simply a somewhat wide low mid eq boost (lower in frequency than the Mid control). The Voice control affects the gain because it is pre drive as opposed to the Low/Mid/High eq controls which are post so they don't affect the gain like the Voice does while the Voice overloads things if you crank it and don't keep the Drive control very low. You have a good ear and skills that you nearly figured this out simply by messing with the pedal.

I had an Orange Rockerverb in my Sweetwater cart just for fun, and when I learned about this pedal I had to buy it. Now I have it, I'm finally watching a review video to see what the consensus is. An Orange simulator for the price of a nice dinner? After all, why wouldn't I? Completely love what I got, still learning how to combine the drive and vice, and the level does seem to go from silent to ridiculously loud in a tiny range of sweep. Overall, it's huge fun to play with, and almost rude not to buy for the $39.99 asking price. Oxford, don't you know!

Excellent demo. I am fairly sure this is taking after the Tech 21 Oxford, another orange pedal, which I actually happen to own. I paid (years ago) more than twice the price of the Joyo--maybe almost three times the price. I like the Tech 21 but I don't love it, which is why it's hardly ever on my board. I got it originally because I did not at the time have an actual Orange amp, and so when I finally bought an Orange amp, the pedal became neglected. Isn't it cheeky of Joyo to not only copy the Tech 21 but also lift its name? Oxford, don't you know.
@sinistrality78832 жыл бұрын
you are exactly right all of Joyo's Sound Pedals are direct clones of the Tech21 Series.
@Jacob-Laeby2 жыл бұрын
Well to be fair Tech 21 did discontinue the original pedal long ago. So nice of Joyo to make it available again. Also if it's like their American Sound, Tech 21 Blonde clone, it's not actually a direct copy. I know people who own both the original Tech 21 Blonde and the Joyo American Sound clone of it who actually prefer the Joyo clone. The Joyo got different EQ points for some of the EQ controls, and allegedly a more open well defined top end. Don't know if this is actually also the case with the Oxford Sound, Oxford clone though, or not.

Oxford, don't you know!!!!! Absolutely nails that early seventies rock rhythm sound. It's in there somewhere, and you won't stop playing or grinning for hours when you find it. I have been using it with some high end Peter Green pickups, and it's definitely part of his sound, though I know he used Fender and other amps at different times.... Just buy it.... and as the man says, beware the hyperactive controls, not for the feint-hearted. By the way, there are also some beautiful clean/off clean tones in there too. I just keep finding more and more sounds I've lost count.

I'm sure you know that there are several pedals that have this knob layout, with various geographic or amplifier words in the name, and made by various cheapo pedal companies. I have the one with California in the name made by Horse, and I really like it. Seems like all of these are probably similar in quality, just trying to emulate different amps. It's all about the range of tones the EQ knobs are capable of, together with the interplay between the voice and drive knobs. Used with other pedals especially, there's really an astonishing number of nice tones available, at least from mine. I plan on trying a few others.

Thanks for using the pedal baby to amplify. Very good basis for comparison as it is just a power amp, and it's the same power stage Orange has in the super-crush series. I'm a big fan of those amps, but looking for something that will essentially give me that sound in preamp for. I really wish Orange made a preamp version of their super crush amp.

I looked up a few other Joyo amp simulator pedals (gut pics) and the board looks very similar... I noticed that at least one has that capacitor in place. I'm guessing that they have a standard 'amp simulator' type PCB and gets populated a little differently for the different amp version.

Comparison video with the Orange Terror Stamp? Would be interested to hear your thoughts! Of course I dropped the $$$ on the Terror Stamp, but WELL worth it IMO! My only critique of the Stamp is that the push button only switches between two volume levels. Switching gain levels would be great, but then it's a two channel, amp pedal. I realize the joyo pedal is not an amp in a box (even though it's emulating the Orange amp sound). Side by side would be a great vid. Putting a Stamp through the Katana Artist via power amp in, or send and return would also be interesting... Circumvents the 20w limitations? Makes it better / more useful live? Oxford don't you know!!!

This line of pedals have caught my eye. I have a small tube amp and a 1x12" with no fx loop, or tone control. Its loud and noisy. I have a couple of 25w digital power amps. I need a pre amp to run into a power amp then the cab, or directly into my mixer, for headphone/monitor home use. Ive tried a Metal Zone as its often referred to as a preamp. Whilst having a great "channel strip" eq, it sounds "thin". Its not actually a guitar preamp at all. Am I safe in assuming that this and all the other "True Tone" pedals are pre-amps? If so which one would be the best one trick pony? I have an old jangly Teisco. I love the garage punk and velvets, jangly sound. One commentor replied it has lots of clean tones, thats the Fender pedal platform taken care of. I also like bass heavy drop dooming. This sounded heavy on that. Is this the most versatile unit they make? So many questions.
@novueaumonde2 жыл бұрын
I agree with leaving everything around 12 o’clock. Crank the drive and it sounds wicked. I got this to compare with my UK Rocker 30 and they’re quite different in sound doing an A/B, the Joyo sounds more.. modern voiced? Quite tight. I’m now using this as a clean boost into the clean channel, it gives those ‘sparkly’ Fender cleans, love it. Really good pedal for the price, you can’t go wrong.

Hey Andy. You should try one of those cheap polyphonic "harmonizer" pedals I've been seeing lately. VSN Harmonizer? I think. They claim to be polyphonic and they're only around $40-42 USD. They do 2 octaves up or down as well as 7 half steps above or below the current note. They seem like a pretty good deal for an octave up & down pedal that works better than most of the cheap "octave pedals". Most of the cheap "octave pedals" I see only go down 2 octaves like the Behringer Octave pedal. Where this harmonizer goes up AND down as well as X # of steps above or below the current note.

So far, the ones I have sound great. Especially into the fx loop return on my Monoprice 15w 1x12" tube combo. I'll likely get the British one next but I figured I'd check the orange pedal out, also. Not sure I'm feeling the AC Tone. Haven't found a good demo of it yet. Shane at InTheBlues demo'd it but his demos never tell me much in the way of whether I'd like a pedal or not.

Oxford don't you know, I just bought an orange TTC 15 12-in amplifier it does not have the effects loop like the modern version of it so I decided that I wanted to have a little bit more than just a tone knob that comes on the orange amp so I looked at the tech 21 and it's pretty impressive because it's got the cab soon but I can't justify five times the amount of money just for the cab soon because the amp already has a great speaker This joyo fits the bill for giving the rest of the flavors needed to color this amplifier TTC 15 12-in beyond its tone knob. Makes total sense is orange in color and it's damn affordable for an EQ pedal, I also do own the American joil pedal which simulates the tweed 57 and I love it so it's great to be able to have three different EQ pedals set up for the particular amps that I'm going to play through whether that's an orange amp or a fender amp or just a straight pedal amp platform that's super clean like a deluxe reverb or Princeton reverb and then to be able to change them into other amplifiers at a very moderate price without having those so-called modeling amps and being able to use real tubes with some additional EQ capabilities Love it thanks for doing this video tech21 is cool but it's not worth five times the amount of money the enjoyo even though I am trying to revamp and get rid of some of my pedal line and try to stick to pedals that are not necessarily made overseas but you got to love this pedal

I bought the Joyo digital delay in a similar sized enclosure. It died after a year. My only pedal to do so and I own a lot, mostly cheap micro clones and Berry plastics. I'm sure it was just a freak incident. I build a few devices. I can't see that they are made any worse than other budget devices. Most likely the switch. The gloop shown was added to this pedal range later on. The early ones including the Voodoo fuzz had a lot of staining on the pcb, as if they weren't changing the fluid used to clean off the flux., the fly wires to the switch pcb would break prior to the gloop being added. This later addition looks good, though I've no idea on the switch quality. It's worth learning to solder or finding an affordable old school tech if you're into guitars and other electronic audio.

O-Range, don't you know? Been looking at these joyo's as an alternative to both software and actually getting a tube power amp or a better tube pre since mine are single 12ax7 affairs for microphones and a compressor...and my old Marshall AVT 20 watt (sounds good close mic'ed to taste) which probably is 25 years old lol. I figure so much can be done with dsp chips cheaply these days that we're on edge of some serious breakthroughs in cost...I have boutique stuff yes but rather have the money stretch as far as it can and do things a little differently. I have a lot of Joyo stuff a friend left me with and I was pleasantly surprised how good it was, probably never would have tried them. Cheap pedals back in the day really often sucked. This is a good time for someone like myself looking to shape out a set of tone colors that sound like they belong together over a series of tracks and coming from the world of synths I look at tone chasing akin to avoiding the cliches of "hot" preset sounds just more subtle; I'm installing p90s on my hollow body guitars and playing around with every variable (trying to shape the noise rather than using a gate, so far via eq, filter and I hope some kinda octave pedal, that I would call wavefolding on a synth (messing with even and odd harmonic, phase modulation...). Bottom line If I can get good amp sounds outside of software I'm happy, then I get to play with my humble but well loved mic's (sm 57, still an old fave...wonder if they've emulated those hmmm)

Wait. There's a cap missing from this pedal? Where at? How'd you figure that out? The spot in the pcb isn't populated? Or?

Oxford I don’t know. Never been there but I hear it’s nice. That pedal is definitely nice. I have a Terror Stamp and I still think I’ll get one. Daft not to at that price but I probably won’t go to Oxford for it. 🙂

Oxford, dont you know? So we can have jolly good laugh. Often times, Im not fan of Marshall in a box affordable pedals, as they are damn too gainy and copressed for Marshall sound, but this one has some nice sounds in it (esp with Tele, that was surprise).
