Some hair restoration surgeons harshly criticize FUT because they say it's outdated, and they also say FUE is the only option because it involves no surgery and no scar. Is that a red flag? I think FUT isn't outdated and that a choice between FUT or FUE is dependent on what type of hair loss the patient has, and how much they want to restore.

Thanks, so from what I get, FUT is preferred for younger ppl who may lose more later and for ppl who have lots of hair loss. What's better for someone in mid 40s? With not too much hair loss? Like I can grow my hair and almost have a fully covered head. Front of my head is thinned, plus the crown. On Norwood scale, I am closest to 4.

Okay. Since the patient runs the risk of a bare or patchy donor area on my scalp, how about harvesting grafts from another site, say the chest or thighs? Are they of the same structure as scalp hair?
@tj93824 жыл бұрын
Seems to me that unless you have very minimal loss of hair which you know is not going to progress any further, you’d be wise to avoid it altogether. Robbing Peter to pay Paul is exactly what it is until cloning or regenerating dormant follicles becomes a real option.

Hi There, I'm from India suffering from Grade7 stage baldness. which technique is suitable for me (less donor area) few r saying FUT+FUE because the biggest draw back of fue is we cant extract huge grafts from fue where are with fut we can get more number of grafts. as the baldness is more and we have to extract more grafts so one must go through FUT+FUE how far is truth in this sir. is it really true tat FUE wont b useful to extract more grafts when compared to FUt. thx in advance

I have a question.Are both of these permanent?. If the graft that is taken from the back of the head is never suppose to go bald, then when it is moved to the balding spot, will it ever go bald?.
@rickr20293 жыл бұрын
It's relatively permanent. Yes, you have the concept correct. The follicular unit has all the right biological components to make it work in the recipient site. The surgeon. Is not just plucking a hair follicle and relocating it. He is taking the follicle in it's own natural tissue setting and transplanting it.

I did fue, I want more density but I'm very great full that I'm not bold. I cut my hair on the sides with a zero fade, so a fut was not my fit. But my hair on top could be better I wanted more of a look by lowering the front allowing to cover my forehead, my dr. Said I cannot do that ,and that is more for a women look. That my crown being covered with a round shape in the front is more of a better look. I just want more density, I comb it back but it looks flat, I want like a ocean wave comb to my hair. I don't know to risk the scar from a fut to do so, or a fue is better for another procedure-(_PRP, and microneedle tattoo was interesting until I found out that there not permanent, results.) I still feel the itching from the fue. Help Dr's o/r opinión?*___and by the way I was the one that chose the fue,...was not pressured for the fut offer or the fue offer-(i just did not want the scar)-fue is for me(just want more density;*what is it opinion dr?...fue,fut,prp,microneedle,or as is

I have two quotes that say 6000 hairs for 8000 and 7800$. Another doctor told me 5900 for 2000-2200 grafts. How many hairs are in a graft so I can compare them better? Thank you
@TheHairLossShow4 жыл бұрын
You should never be quoted on hairs. That way you will know you are definitely being taken for a ride. The number of hairs per graft depends on the person. Some people will have a higher proportion, some people a lower number. You should only be quoted on grafts, otherwise the clinic might be splitting the grafts into singles just to charge you more...

I have a headache researching hair transplant. Ive seen some saying NO ONE should have FUE proceedure unless your hairloss is very minimal and youre over 50 years old. The reason they say this ive read is because FUT grafts survive better and have more growth. Its hard to believe even these surgeons as they couldnt really give objective opnion because they sell both. .

It is. I was gonna do FUE until about a week away from my surgery date. I switched to FUT and they harvested 3,168 grafts. You get better quality AND quantity with FUT. my scar is ear to ear but barely noticeable with a #3 buzzer. It came out amazing. If you can just get over the scar thing, it’s a no-brainer to go with FUT. if you wanna do FUE then just find a good doctor/surgeon and make sure they’re not doing more than 2500-3000 grafts. Otherwise they’re over-harvesting which can look weird in the back and limit your options for another transplant down the road. I swear by FUT.
