I have some background in Shuai Jiao - Chinese wrestling. And when they teach you throws and take downs, they teach you to SNAP into them. The move is supposed to be SHORT and EXPLOSIVE. Now, just like in Judo, in Shuai Jiao you can do the move in a snappy, explosive motion, without doing it full force. That's what we did in demonstrations. And what Mr. Smith does is EXACTLY how we were doing REAL moves real take downs, real throws, in demonstration. SNAP, explosive but not full power. I guarantee you that Mr Smith can put so much force into this headlock take over that he can bruise your ribs with it by literally DRIVING you into the mat. But the way he does it is ideal. It LOOKS real, without BEING real. That's the best pro wrestling IMHO. When the REAL move (lets say, fireman carry) is done in a snappy and explosive way, just like you would do it in the competition or full contact sparring, but without putting all the force into it. That's why when japanese guys do the moves, they look REAL. Many of the japanese pro wrestlers have background in Judo, wrestling, karate, kickboxing. That's why their moves look so awesome. Even "Simple" moves.

In the tech part I feel that he should've let the guys do the drill and make some mistakes (correcting them after) instead of finishing them all off (hence "showing off"). When you pay for a seminar you pay to learn and practice the stuff, not to only tap out to the instructor. I feel he didn't seem prepared for the technique part at all.

In the old days they would hire MOSTLY former amateur wrestlers and teach them to SHOOT(as in how to really grapple and do submissions). This was a good seminar, but to be honest I feel that seminars shouldn't start with too much of a tough warmup or incorporate too many conditioning exercises. If I go to a seminar I want to learn new techniques / knowledge, not spend half the time or more on conditioning. After all people can do squats etc on their own time [Yes I agree that some of those people should be in better shape].
@LazarSoljaga
@LazarSoljaga 7 жыл бұрын
juandenz2008 All the seminars i ever signed up for had their routines listed at the start, incuding the warm ups. Tho none where Wrestling seminars. Also hes not just telling them what exercises to do but is also explaining how to do them properly, and is doing it with them. Conditioning training is important for Pro Wrestling.

@thickerconstrictor9037
@thickerconstrictor9037 6 жыл бұрын
Disagree. People say they want to be wrestlers and then come to the seminars looking like a bag of shit. Your body and conditioning needs to be more of a focus than your wrestling. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying your wrestling doesn't need to be good, but if you want to be a wrestler and you want to make a career out of it and you don't go to the gym then you don't really want it. Yes there are guys that get signed who don't look great, but those guys are in amazing condition as far as stamina. And those guys are also insanely good workers and have been around for years. And I guarantee you most of them work out. Stuff like this shows the people who want to be wrestlers the kind of shit that they need to be doing. Imagine one of these guys it's out of shape by some miracle get signed by WWE. What is he going to do in NXT when they do blow up drills that make the best athletes puke? I help train at a school in Florida and it's a very good school. And I have participated in tryouts. When I did my try out I was 215 9% body fat. I lifted 6 days a week I dieted I trained at a wrestling school two nights a week and wrestled two nights a week and this is after I had been in the business for 6 years. And I thought I was going to die. This was 2 weeks after wrestling a 35-minute match. It's not easy. If this was now I wouldn't be able to do this easy as warm up. Because I don't want to be a wrestler anymore. I work out still but I don't have the conditioning and I'm not in the shape that I was. I don't think it should take away from the time the seminar last, but I think absolutely 100% people should have to be put through this. Because if they think they're going to get signed looking like a bag of shit with no conditioning they are wrong. Regal came down to her school and the head trainer and myself sat down with him for about half an hour before the students got there. Basically we asked what WWE looks for in their tryouts so we can prepare the people who are really serious. He told us basics. Footwork timing selling facial expressions and very very importantly conditioning. Not that you have to look like a bodybuilder, but you need to be in good physical condition. There are freaks of nature that are out of shape and can fucking wrestle forever but generally if you don't work out at all your conditioning is probably not going to be good. Wrestling cardio is completely different than other cardio, but if you have a fitness lifestyle then you have a huge step up. Think about this. How many spots are there around the world for wrestling companies where you can actually make a good living? And how many wrestlers are there? And then ask yourself how many spots are there for guys who look like shit? You should do everything you can to make yourself as good as you can in every department. And if you walk in looking like an athlete and have a good look you already are ahead of the curve. If you add good condition to that you're ahead of the curve again. And if there are two guys who are both good and both can talk and one looks great and the other looks like shit chances are the guy that looks good is going to get signed. Wrestling isn't just wrestling. It's a whole package
@FreneticZetetic
@FreneticZetetic 6 жыл бұрын
Totally get where you're coming from, OP, but the reality is MOST people are in garbage shape, especially cardio wise. They have to have a proper warm up, and most of the time, it WILL seem a bit overkill or redundant. The level of conditioning required to stay focused and not get blown up in front of 20K people is a very misunderstood part of the business IMHO.
