I got my hd620s around 2 weeks ago now. & I simply can't get them off my head. Such an amazing sound I am addicted to it. My 1st senhizer product was IE200 & instantly fell in love with their sound signature & now blown away with 620s. Couldn't believe they will out perform the ie 200 in terms of highs, but I was wrong. They sound much detailed & bass is though deep but lacks some upper range, plus they tried to put bigger phones using 500 chassis this I think somehow makes the proper head fitting & seal little difficult IMO. However very much satisfied with it and for sure not getting any other headphones.

@@tauhidirfani271 The PS Vita (at least my original fat model) is surprisingly capable sound-wise, in that its DAC is pretty solid and Sony rather likes over-engineering the outputs on their devices before costs are cut in later revisions (see launch model PS1 which is called the "audiophile PS1" for a reason, as well as the still stunning digital audio/video output from the fat PS3). And most portable devices have a pretty high output impedance, which Sennheiser headphones tend to like, provided the device is powerful enough to drive them with good headroom. Impedance matching is part of the reason Sennheiser HD 6-series headphones pair well with tubes.

Love the combination of subjective multi person take and the graphs. I really love the graphs^^. After 20 years of eq and diy headsets my mental image of the sound from graphs have become shockingly good. I know they doesnt mean much to a beginner, but we enthusiast really appreciate the graphs. I bought the 560s after seeing your graphs and the sound was just as you guys said it would be! Made a notch for them as I new I had too, but man those are light with no stored energy what so ever. I couldnt be happier with that purchase. I also bought the he400se but the stored energy in the treble is impossible to fix, even with a notch filter. After several years the comfy/lightness of the 560s is just awesome.

I was hoping that sennheiser would clone the hd 600 but the grills on the back of the headphones are closed back instead of open back. For example, have the same sound signature, same frequency response, same measurements, same drivers, same same 300 ohm impedance. Basically an exact copy of the hd 600 but there is only 1 difference being the headphones are close back instead of open back where there is no difference with only 1 exception because the sound quality is exactly the same with no difference at all. Before I got the hd 600, I was mainly using the hd 598 brown and beige open back sennheiser headphones similar to the noctua brown and beige fans. Every time I see the brown and beige noctua fans, it always reminds me of the sennheiser hd 598 open back brown and beige headphones. I have the original marble version of the sennheiser hd 600 that I always use all the time when committing by bus, walking around, running errands, listening to music, watching 4k movies from the headphone jack on my sony xperia 1 iv android phone with it's 4k 120 hz oled display and even playing video games on my gaming laptop being connected to my fiio k3 external dac amp . @@sennheiser It's the angled drivers that makes a difference in soundstage in terms of imaging. Sounds more like speakers in terms of imaging. I wouldn't go for closed-back design, especially for professional mixing. Neutral sound and spatial positioning plays a huge part for your sound perception. The setup of the mixing studio also plays a big role... but more importantly the intended space your final product is going to be delivered. Example, you mix differently for music meant to be played in a theater vs a live soundstage. I would personally go for an open-back planar magnetic design.... Either the HifiMan Edition XS .... or ... if you have the financial freedom, the Audeze LCD-X. If you don't have much experience, the HifiMan are a great starting point and very budget friendly :) You can build your collection from there. There's no golden rule as everyone's ears are different, so make sure you hear them yourself first, before you make a decision. All the best!

He lives! That type of resonance is a deal breaker for me. I'd have to try in person. Do you think they allowed it for the way people describe what they like about the 600?
@metal5715 ай бұрын
I don't think that resonance has anything to do with the sound of the 600. Probably is some artifact of however they had to design the cups for this thing, but FWIW the 271 for example had pretty much no extra damping foam last I remember taking one apart so it literally was cuppy. Not sure what the back side of the cups of this one looks like

If you get the chance to demo them at some point, I don't think they feel or sound like a $200 headphone at all. Compared to the 560s, the build is a massive amount better, and I would argue the sound is a lot better as well (at least to my ears). For the $300 I found them for, they are phenomenal for a closed back.

@@sennheiser as a musician when I use a headphone I prefer if the cable can easily disconnect, reason being that if I accidentally get the cable caught on something it just simply unplugs rather than ripping the headphones off my head possibly damaging them, or dragging my head down. I understand the appeal of locking in, but for me personally the small inconvenience of the cable coming unplugged is much better than having my head yanked down or possibly damaging my gear. Still looks like an awesome headphone though, and I will be for sure trying them once I get the chance.

Yes, solderdude at DIYaudiohaven confirmed in his review that they have the same earpad mounting mechanism as the hd560s and hd569, however using different pads to the original severely distort negatively the frequency response so if you are going to replace them it should be for another pair of the original

I think there's not a lot of good closed back because the demand isn't there? I mean... For the same price, you can get a Sennheiser Momentum 4 that is wireless, has ANC, a microphone, can be equalized easily, etc... Unless you're in a studio setting why would you buy those? 🤔
@En_Joshi-Godrez5 ай бұрын
Because the momentum 4 are worse in every conceivable way in terms of sound quality. This isn't rocket science.
@1337sim15 ай бұрын
@@En_Joshi-Godrez Is it really? You tried both? Even if you focus solely on SQ, I'd argue that because the Momentum can easily be EQed to the Harman curve or whatever you like, it's already worth it because FR represents the majority of what people consider "sound quality". Personally, if I want the ultimate SQ, I feel it's more worth it to spend a lot on a good open back headphones because you get the wide soundstage 😎 not so much for a closed back...

@@En_Joshi-Godrez I'm ignorant if you say so. To me Wavelet is easier to use than PEACE EQ. Also, lots of people listen to music in less than ideal conditions. The benefits of the one-click EQ + ANC wins over a regular closed back.

How is this versus the 560s, if anyone has heard them both?
@jedisoldier5 ай бұрын
Have had the 560s for a year and just got the 620s in yesterday. 620s have much more bass out of the box (I usually have to eq the 560s for music a little bit), but the bass is definitely not too much IMO. 560s are brighter, of course. 620s has a very comparable soundstage I'd say. Timbre is slightly better on the 560s I'd say, but honestly I prefer vocals on the 620s, I feel like the 620s are more detailed (could just be closed back advantage) and overall a much more fun listen for music. For gaming, the 620s are very capable, the soundstage and imaging are quite good, just should probably use EQ (560s have kind of an ideal freq response for gaming). It feels like a notable step up in sound quality, and it's a huge step up in build quality. People were hating on the build of these, but in the hand, they feel much, much nicer than the 560s. I'm thrilled with the sound and particularly this sound given it's closed back. Just be aware, as DMS points out, that closed backs will sound different to everyone, so if you buy, buy somewhere with a good return policy in case the sound just doesn't work for you.
@argo1170074 ай бұрын
@@jedisoldier Hey! Thanks for your response. I enjoyed reading through all the details you gave. I have the 560s and enjoy it for most things. It is interesting that you say the sound stage is comparable. I was curious about these two because the 620s is quite expensive but it seems like a closed back 560s, and was wondering if it is worth the price. Why did you want to get the 620s after the 560s? Is it just because u needed a closed back for some purpose? Edit: do you use an amp for these headphones?
@jedisoldier4 ай бұрын
@@argo117007 Hey, it's hard to directly compare soundstage, particularly in a closed vs open back, but the 620s truely do sound pretty spacious, at least for a closed back. I've never thought they sound super closed in. I wouldn't quite describe it as a closed 560s, the 620s has way more bass, which makes for a much more 'fun' sound. treble is a little less emphasized than the 560s, but still highly present. Overall it's a great listen, I've really enjoyed it. I do think "boxy" can describe the sound at times, but for most music it's been great. Yes, I realized there were a lot of cases I'd be willing to use a closed back than I would an open back. It just opens up when/where I'm able to listen to music with nice headphones. So funnily enough I had actually upgraded from the 560s to sticker modded had 8xx's (basically hd800s). Fantastic headphones, ridiculously good for gaming, but a bit of a cumbersome setup (dac + amp + modmic + dual cables). For the 560s and 620s I use an inline boom mic, just one cable. So I'm about to sell the 8xx, just can't justify keeping them if I don't use them enough. Finally, I actually don't use them a ton with an amp. For gaming, the steelseries gamedac gen2 I use is good enough, for music my MacBook pro is plenty good enough. My hd8xx really needed an amp a lot of the time, but these I feel like you can get away without one, although it does help at times. sorry for the long message lol. hope this helps
