Once i felt this moment. I started my monologue, then i just felt like i dive in the moment. I feel sad, i cry, it feels too real at that moment. The feeling that you didn't wanna go back. And After im done with my monologue i just forgot what just happened. Is this considered as a correct feeling when we're acting?
@thehellerapproach7 жыл бұрын
Hi there, Thank you for subscribing to the channel! Brad Heller always says that acting should feel like you're doing nothing. In order to duplicate human behavior, you listen, receive and react. In a monologue you will react to certain things too, even your own thoughts. It would be great to schedule you for a free audit sometime. You can come into one of our group classes Tuesday night, or Thursday morning at the studio in Burbank, CA. If you are not local, we definitely recommend online acting lessons via Skype webcam, which have been very effective for many of Brad Heller's students around the world. Take a look at the website, where you will find much more info. www.thehellerapproach.com and feel free to call with any questions. We look forward to hearing from you! I was thinking of Charlie Chaplin last night… I rewatched The Artist too… Charlie Chaplin and silent films were my inspiration for a short film I made about a lost dog finally finding a loving home… It’s called The Stray … shot by my ex Juan Camillo Botello ( 2WayCreative) At the time, I was severely depressed… I reached for a way to show happiness and joy when living was barely bearable.. it is a silent short… and won best short film at UM that year

I am facing the same problem which you took in last section of Vedio, this issue ,I faced during my acting class, we were asked to do emotional act as some of our loved one like brother ..friend etc has died in some accident or terrorist attack and his body is infront of us. When I was practicing it in my living place, I was able to get into the character with emotions,but when I was asked to do in front of class ,it went completely flat, I could not get into any emotional feeling. At that time ,I couldn't understand why it happened. But now I will try to practice it in a not a comfort zone as per your suggestion,and will update you about results soon.

Hello! I just found your channel yesterday. I got a part in our college's christmas musical. The first scene when I come in my character is panicked and then she is left alone looking through a box of things from when she was little, which brings back a lot of sad memories. I don't think that I'm the best actor, so I'm trying to find tips on how to make it "honest" like you said. Do you have any videos on how to be panicked/sad or crying without it looking cheesy or fake?

Practiced responses. Everybody does that, .. Not on a script, for off the cuff responses. if someone says good morning we generally respond in kind, although I've experienced odd re greets>. One day I said good morning to a guy, and he shouted F....k you. He must of had a bad day. I shrugged it off. I didn't want to make his day worst . I mimicked him for years. We became work mates on a repair crew. Team mates, you might say. Heavy repair structural at times.lol

So the goal here is to have the amygdala and the frontal cortex being in alignment while doing a scene. The frontal-cortex runs at 3 to 4 data-bits-per-second and the amygdala runs at 2 million data-bits-per-second so, you can only have your frontal cortex l33d the amygdala. To trigger an honest mirco-expression (Dr. Paul Ekman) happens at a 1,000th if a second. Best of luck to all of us LARP actors...

hey thanks brad for this amazing video i have many questions two of which are that like how we can understand what actually is script demanding do we have to frame the situation in our mind and one more thing like it is like that actors get script before hand so do actors practice it at their home so that they may feel more next day on set.
@thehellerapproach5 жыл бұрын
Hey Prem, we're glad you found the video helpful! Unless you are "cold reading" a scene, it's important to take the time to fully go through the script line by line so you can understand what is happening in the scene, and what your character's emotion and objective are. That will absolutely help you be more effective on set. Hope this helps! -The Heller Approach Staff

I dont like you saying "acting correctly". I mean what means correctly? Is acting according to Brecht not correct acting, because he tells to actor to step out of the character on stage and be the actor apart from the character. I think there is no correct acting, in my opinion. Everything is and feels different. But otherwise great videos!! Keep it up! :)
