There's something about Colonial America in AC3 that always grabs me in how authentic it feels as opposed to being vibrant or lively as some of the other settings in the franchise. The Frontier in was very reminiscent of the Kingdom from AC1. Compared to most nature oriented open-worlds, it always felt a lot more grounded and dynamic with its NPC's and events, which always drew me back to it whenever I replay. In the Black Hills section of the map, you could literally parkour amongst the trees for long stretches of time and see the beauty that really shines through in the remaster. Along with the beautiful Winter setting which really brings everything to life even more.
@1woozy7 ай бұрын
I agree. It truly felt like the devs wanted an authentic approximation of the setting in AC3 and not a sandbox that just catered to what players had come to expect (i.e. sprawling high buildings, rooftops and 'exotic' sights). Like they chose Revolutionary America and then went full-send when it came time to flesh it out, doing their best with the tech available to them at the time. It sets the game apart from the ones before it and makes for a very immersive experience.

For me what also gave personallity to those games with its first entries was the crowd and all the social stealth that came with it. I liked how you had to pay attention to the crowd when traversing cities: - Walking quickly at the risk of bumping with someone holding a vase/crate and breaking your stealth approach or walking slower but making sure you avoid NPCs. - Running quickly at the risk of bumping into someone and falling or running slower but making sure to push people away and not get slowed down. - In AC1, avoid crazy people who will shove you aside, breaking your stealth approach. Alongside the recruitable NPCs we got with AC2 (courtesans, mercenaries, thieves), all those things brought some personality to the world and unique mechanics to the game. I was sad when, starting with AC3, the character would automatically run at full speed and remove civilians from his way, it just made the crowd part of the decor now, like any building, instead of having it be a "character" of its own to pay attention to.

@@1woozy That depends what you could as world. If you talk about just models/textures/placement of things, AC1 of course should be low. But if we start counting as part of it world building, setup, timeframe you play in history, AC1 suddenly jumps to top because you cannot really beat crusades, real templars, real assassins and their attempts of authenticity (we removed crossbow!). Like AC1 health bar is not health bar - it is synchronization bar with ancestor - because no one would really survive getting hit with sword that hard. Not to mention game even adresses some inconsistency with history in game (like anyone can write book etc.). For me it’s always a hard choice between Odyssey and Valhalla. The amount of detail the developers put into Odyssey is just amazing. Like the giant snake skeleton near Delphi as a reference to to Apollo killing a snake so that Delphi gets it’s clairvoyant ability. Or the giant statue of Athena on the Akropolis which was destroyed almost a thousand years ago. And Valhalla’s huge forest with fog etc really adds an almost supernatural factor to the game. To the point where you find yourself just going from collectible/mystery to next one. It has authentic and fitting vibes, but thats about it. Realistic? Yes, but there is a fine line between realism and enjoyment. Its really weird when you think about Odyssey and Valhalla are very similar in terms of the size and exploration, yet in Odyssey it feels so much better. I feel Syndicate (with Unity as second place) deserves the best ac world only for the fact that it FINALLY felt 1:1 scale... The buildings are big, the monuments massive! Climb them is so satisfying, and it shadows so much the other games' scale. For example, climbing San Marco's bell tower in Venice with Ezio was awesome... But then when I went there in real life I realized how big and LARGE it was that pillar (10/15 people at least, while in the game was large like 5/6 ezios) This just changed all for me, I now see worlds in games in a totally different way

AC Revelations (Nice blend of AC 1 settings with the Ezio Trilogy but not as much variety on the buildings and less landmarks) Low-tier: 11. AC Rogue (North Atlantic is pretty but New York feels like AC 3 mixed in with Black Flag) 12. AC Valhalla (Lots to explore with an autumn feeling to England but most of the areas are in open fields and I prefer being in cities) Black Flag could be above or below both Odyssey and Unity anytime and Unity and Odyssey could swap places with each other and the same goes with AC 1 with AC 3 and Valhalla with Rogue. For me it΄¨s Assassin¨s Creed IIThe Florence,Monterigioni,Tuscanny and especially Venice is the reason that i fell in love with the Renaisance Italy and from then on i always wanted to go there just to see the atention to detail with my own two eyes.

I've never played an AC game, they didn't appeal to me until recently when I heard Syndicate was set in Victorian London and it looked like an amazing recreation, so I picked it up. Recently got Origins amongst a bundle of games and that setting looks interesting too so I think I'll give it a go when I have time. I'm not really interested in the story/gameplay, I just want to explore these places!

About Brotherhood I want to say, NO you can't navigate Rome after playing the game like many people claim, I've lived there 15 years and trust me it's utter and complete bs

Brotherhood's Rome might not be top of the list as a game world, but goddamn I would rank it #1 for music everytime Echoes of the Roman Ruins is literally peak

Rogue is much better if you consider the time and budget constraints, but if we're ranking without considering that then it's not the best, true

This guys hate for Valhalla shows in almost all his videos 😂. I actually liked it allot. If you don't treat it as an assasins creed game and just look at it for what it is. Which is a viking game then it becomes allot of fun.

But thats dumb if next year call of duty releases a 3rd person platformer instead of a shooter you cant expect cod fans to like it! On top valhalla is not even a good rpg game so like it if you want but dont defend this garbage

I'm new to AC so I don't have much to say on that matter I've only really played 2 of them for now: Syndicate that I already finished twice, and 3 that I'm currently playing But yeah I completely agree with what you said about these 2

Valhalla is not one of the best AC game, But the world of AC Valhalla is one of the best. I would put it under top 5 at least. As for AC unity, the game is stunning but there is very less variety compared to other worlds. I would put it under top 5 as well but i don't think it deserves number 1.

I agree with the top 3, but for me, the order would be Origins, Unity, and Odyssey. The problem with Origins is that when I played it, I thought the missions would take me through all the regions of the map, but that wasn’t the case. I reached the end and still had many parts of the map left to explore, and when I did, I realized most of it was just desert. Unity would easily be the best if it weren’t for the online or co-op missions. They couldn’t be played solo or weren’t played in the historical order they should have been. If this were fixed to follow the chronological story, the world would be better understood, and the game itself would easily be the best. Odyssey is by far the best, haha. I love it. I love Greece. The missions make you go everywhere, they add everything accomplished from previous games, it’s simply such a fun game in such a well-crafted world.

My favourite world is probably odyssey, it just looks incredible and I love Ancient Greece so that adds to it. Shadows could definitely beat it if it’s done correctly though, I’m excited for it just to explore feudal Japan 😂

I know this isn’t a popular opinion but black flag is my least favorite game and map. I skipped it on release because the pirate esthetic didn’t appeal to me. But then hearing everyone raving about it I came back to it and played it after origins and I really don’t like it at all. I did complete 100% it as well so I did spend a fair amount of time with it. Am I the only one that doesn’t like black flag at all?

I actually didn’t like it bc of the protagonist. Edward, to me, is so damn unlikable and his greed and selfishness gets everyone who even sort of looked out for him killed or to leave him. He learns the errors of his ways in the late game but by then what does it matter? Altair had a similar character arc but he was publically humiliated and had to claw his way to redemption Edward starts off a scoundrel and stays a scoundrel until everyone dies/leaves him and suddenly hes like “maybe being an asshole isnt good?”

In terms of cities - Rome (Brotherhood) and Paris (Unity). In terms of continent - Greece (Odyssey) and Egypt (Origins). But, all worlds are excellent work.

I’m enjoying Valhalla more than I thought I would. Good I waited 4 years and got the compete edition on a major discount. I don’t much care for the assassins part of it. GOW got me hooked to Norse myth and this game has an intriguing take on it too.

I'm glad I came across this channel. Regardless of what others may think, I've enjoyed every AC game I've played. Mirage was a bit disappointing because I finished it in about 30 hours. I love the gigantic games that take weeks to almost do everything. That's why I'm replaying Odyssey. Lol

The best are black flag ( many exotic colors ) mirage blue filter and odyssey . Rome was greater than you say it but it was small . Others are good as well but mostly limited .

Odyessy and Origins are two of the most favorite settings I have. I dislike the fact that Valhalla let's you explore abandoned Roman cities yet we NEVER got a game in Ancient Rome. Paris and Syndicate and Baghdad are top tier cities. That there is no doubt about. Paris will hold a place though.

My ranking (I have not played any games after Origins, so I cannot rank them): 11. Brotherhood 10. Rogue 9. Liberation 8. Revelations 7. 3 6. 1 5. Origins 4. 2 3. Syndicate 2. Unity 1. Black Flag I put Origins so far back because I do not really like the non-urban areas. I also disliked the RPG elements added to Origins which is another reason why it is lower (and I know that this is a gameplay element rather than the map, but a map will be created for the game's genre, and I dislike how most RPG maps are made). I also felt like a lot of the map began to feel the same. 1 is high because of Damascus.
